Studying the Effect of Curcumin (Standard & Supplements) and Zinc on the Concentrations of Glucose, Insulin, HOMA-IR, and Anti-Mullerian Hormone in PCOS-Model Rats
...Show More Authors

The goal of the current study was to investigate the effects of curcumin in both formulas (supplement and standard), zinc, and then use them together to show their effect on the levels of glucose, insulin, insulin resistance (IR), and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) in the model of female rats with induced polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) using 1mg/kg/day of letrozole for 21 days followed by a treatment period of 14 days including different treatments of zinc 30 mg/kg, curcumin standard 200 mg/kg, curcumin supplement 200 mg/kg, (curcumin standard plus zinc), (curcumin Supplement plus zinc) and metformin as a standard treatment. After the treatment, all female rats were sacrificed, and blood samples were collected from the inferior vena cava of each rat for biochemical measurements. The concentrations of insulin and AMH were measured by using of immunoassay technique ELISA. Glucose was determined by using the spectrophotometric method while insulin resistance is measured by calculation methods. The results indicate that the administration of letrozole as an aromatase inhibitor resulted in a significant elevation of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH), glucose, insulin, and insulin resistance in the polycystic ovary syndrome-designed model. Curcumin (standard or supplement) and zinc showed a significant decrease in insulin levels in all treatment groups, while the effect was more pronounced when zinc was taken with a curcumin supplement. Results also showed a significant decrease in glucose and IR, this indicates the ability of curcumin supplement and zinc to restore glucose and IR to their normal level in the healthy control group. Anti–mullerian hormone decreased significantly for all groups that took both forms of curcumin, and curcumin and zinc together, while the decrease was highly significant in curcumin supplement and zinc

Factors Affecting Birth Space Interval of Women Who Are Attending Primary Health Care Centers
...Show More Authors

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the factors affecting birth space interval in a sample of women.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study conducted in primary health centers in Al-Tahade and Al- Shak Omar in
Baghdad city. Data were collected by direct interview using questionnaire especially prepared for the study.
Sample size was (415) women in age group (20-40) years who were chosen randomly.
Results: Analysis of data shows highest rate of women (31.8%) had a birth space interval of (8-12) months
followed by (26.7%) had a birth space interval of (19-24) months, (20.2%) had a birth space interval of (>24)
months and (16.1%) had a birth space interval of (13-18) months respectively, while lower rate of w

Background: Determination of local bone mineral density (BMD) immediately after implant insertion play an important role in implant success rate, may offer comprehensive description of the bone, and give enough information to the surgeon prior to implant insertion and at follow up status. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the changes of local bone density in the dental implant recipient sites by using computerized tomography. Material and method: The sample consisted of (20) dental implants recipient sites, bone density assessment was done twice, immediately after implants insertion and after six months. Results: The mean HU of the bone around the implant insertion site, immediately after implant placement was 552.28 HU, and inc

Polycondensation of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid with Some Prepared Diamines Derived from Amino Acids or Antibiotic
...Show More Authors

Many condensed polymers [A1-A7] were prepared via reaction of (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid = EDTA), with different prepared imide-diamines by modification [ modification of amino acids and antibiotics (B1- B7)] Imide-diamines were prepared by chlorination of L-amino acids such as [ L-Histidine, L-Alanine, L-Valine, L-Glycine and L-Aspargine ] or selected antibiotics such as [Cephallixine monohydrate and Amoxilline ] with thionyl chloride at 0°C, then reacted with ammonia to obtain imidediamines [B1-B7] . The physical properties of all prepared condensed polymers [A1-A7], new prepared diamines [B1-B7] were studied and characterized by FT -IR spectroscope to certify the structural formulas. The thermal analysis (TGA, DTA) were studied, a
