Synthesis, Characterisation and Biological Activity of New Co, Ni, Zn and Cd Polymeric Complexes Derived from Dithiocarbamate Ligand

Synthesis of a new class of Schiff-base ligand with a tetrazole moiety to form polymeric metal complexes with CoII, NiII, ZnII, and CdII ions has been demonstrated. The ligand was synthesised by a multi-steps by treating 5-amino-2-chlorobenzonitrile and cyclohexane -1,3-dione, the 5,5'-(((1E,3E)-cyclohexane-1,3-diylidene)bis(azanylylidene))bis(2-chlorobenzonitrile) was obtained. The precursor (M) was prepared  from the reaction 5,5'-(((1E,3E)-cyclohexane-1,3-diylidene)bis(azanylylidene))bis(2-chlorobenzonitrile) with NaN3 to obtained (1E,3E)-N1,N3-bis(4-chloro-3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl)cyclohexane-1,3-diimine (N). By reacting the precursor (M) with CS2/KOH, the required ligand was synthesised. Co (II), Ni (II), Zn (II), Cd (II) ions produce polymeric metal complexes with the formula [M(L)]n when they react with the ligand (L). These complexes were synthesised using the same methods. The geometrical structure of ligand and their polymeric complexes were determined using FTIR, 1H, 13C-NMR, electronic spectroscopy, ESMS, magnetic susceptibility, metal and chloride contents, micro elemental analysis and conductance. From the results ,we conclude that the L-complexes demonstrate the production of four-coordinate complexes with tetrahedral geometry for Co(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II), and square planer geometry for Ni (II). We examined the antibacterial activity of both ligand and complexes with two types of bacteria positive (Bacillus stubtili and Staphylococcus aureus ) and negative (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ) with concentration 10-2.

Mixed ligand complexes of bivalent metal ions, viz; M= Fe(II),Co(II),Ni(II),Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd (II), and Hg(II) of the composition Na2[M (Amox)(Sac)3] in 1:1:3 molar ratio, (where Amox = Amoxicillin tryhydrate (C16H19N3O5S.H2O) and Sac = Saccharine(C7H5NO3S) have been synthesized and characterized by repeated melting point determination, Solubility, Molar conductivity, determination the percentage of the metal in the complexes by flame(AAS), FT-IR, magnetic susceptibility measurements and electronic spectral data. The ligands and their metal complexes have been screened for their biological activity against selected microbial strains (gram +ve) and (gram -ve).

Synthesis and Characterization of Schiff Base Derived From Chitosan and Its Complexes With (Co+2, Ni+2 and Cu+2)

     In this research, new Schiff base is derived from chitosan O-nitrobenzyldehyde and its complexes were synthesized. All compounds were characterized by FT-IR, UV-Visible, TGA, DTA, TG and molar conductivity with melting point. The results showed that Schiff base was coordinated via  nitrogen atom azomethine with the center metal ions Co+2,Ni+2 and Cu+2 behaving monodentate ligand and forming complexes with molecular formula [M(L)Cl2H2O] The tetrahedral geometrical was suggested for all prepared complexes based on the characterization data for all techniques.   +2,Cu+2, Ni+2M = Co

Synthesis and characterization of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd (II) and Hg(II) complexes with new derivative of L-ascorbic acid

Stable new derivative (L) Bis[O,O-2,3;O,O-5,6(carboxylic methyliden)]L-ascorbic acid was synthesized in good yield by the reaction of L-ascorbic acid with dichloroacetic acid with ratio (1:2) in presence of potassium hydroxide. The new (L) was characterized by 1H,13C-NMR, elemental analysis (C,H) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). The complexes of the ligand (L) with metal ion, M+2= (Cu, Co, Ni, Cd and Hg) were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, UV-Visible, Molar conductance, Atomic absorption and the Molar ratio. The analysis evidence showed the binding of the metal ions with (L) through bicarboxylato group manner resulting in six-coordinated metal ion.
