Background: type 1diabetes (T1DM) is a form of diabetes mellitus that results from  autoimmune  destruction of insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas, leading to permanent insulin deficiency ,categorized as either being positive or negative for various auto antibodies related to pancreatic function .An anti glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibody(Anti-GAD) is recognized as one of the major serological markers for type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Objectives: to determine the prevalence of the immunological marker  (Anti-GAD) among a sample of type1diabetus mellitus patients and to identify some factors that might be associated with its seroposivity.

Serum samples were obtained from patients suffering from chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) disease. They were divided into three groups; 20 patients with RA taking biological treatment Etanercept (Enbrel), 20 patients with RA not taking biological treatment (disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug) and 10 people as healthy control group. The purpose of this study was to measure serum levels of insulin-like growth factor-binding protein (IGFBP7), Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), Growth Hormone (GH), Interleukin 6 (IL-6) and insulin in acromegaly patients and healthy controls. The acromegaly group had 60 patients, while the population group had 30 people who had never had acromegaly before. The concentration of IGFBP7, IGF-1, GH, IL-6, and insulin were determined. The study included 117 hepatitis C patients comprising as 63 pre-treated patients, the range of age was between 20-65 year with a mean age of 48.12 ± 16.1 and 54 post-treated patients with age range was between 23-63 year with the mean of 46.1 ± 18.1.
