The study of important physico-chemical factors of water of Al-Husainia creek during the period of May 2005 till the end of April 2006 indicated that water temperature showed clear monthly fluctuations ranged from 10 C° during January to 33 C° during August. Dissolved oxygen values ranged from 5.5 mg/ml during August to 14.8 mg/ml during January. Slight monthly changes were noticed in pH values, ranged from 7.7 during May to 9 during January. Also, slight monthly changes were recorded in salinity values which ranged from 0.67 ppt during October to 0.91 ppt during May. Twenty four bacterial isolates were identified from (10) places for wandering sellers in south Baghdad city (Bayaa garage). They were Staphylococcus aureus (9 isolates), Bacillus subtilis (6 isolates), Salmonella spp. (4 isolates) and Psudomonas aeruginosa (5 isolates). Agar well diffusion method was used to definition sensitivity of the fresh and dried juice of Capsicum grossum L. and Allium cepal L. at different concentrations. The fresh juice had no inhibitory activity against the bacterial isolates in contrast to the fresh juice , dried juice which show marked activity against all bacterial isolates at (30) mg/ml.

A new spectrophotometric method for the determination of allopurinol drug was investigated. The proposed method was based on the reaction of the intended drug with catechol and Fe(II) to form a blue soluble complex which was measured at λmax 580 nm. A graph of absorbance versus concentration shown that Beer’s law was obeyed over the concentration range of 2–10 μg ml–1 with molar absorptivity of 9.4 x 103 l mol–1 cm–1 and Sandell sensitivity of 1.4 x 10–2 μg cm–2.
