...Show More Authors

This study was carried out to find out the effect of germination of broad beans and chickpeas seeds for different periods on the sensory properties of homus bethina and falafel. The results revealed that the studied properties were significantly different (P<0.05) in tenderness, flavor and overall acceptance as compared to control samples. While other properties such as appearance, body (texture), leavening and color did not showed significant differences. It was found that treatment B1 (100% germinated broad beans) varied significantly in tenderness in comparison with control samples.Treatment B3 (75% ordinary bread beans + 25% germinated broad beans) revealed significant differences (P<0.05) in both flavor and overall acceptance as compared with other treatments. The falafel processed from chickpeas (ordinary and germinated) showed significant differences among all treatments and control sample. The sensory evaluation of the falafel processed from different ratio of ordinary and germinated broad beans and chickpeas showed significant differences (P<0.05) in flavor and overall acceptance as compared to other treatments contained different proportions of ordinary and germinated broad beans or ordinary and germinated chickpeas as compared with control sample which was D0 (100% ordinary broad beans ) , while when considering treatment E0 (100% ordinary chickpeas) as control , the treatment contained high proportion of ordinary and germinated broad beans or ordinary and germinated chickpeas varied significantly in flavor. Also, treatments contained high proportion of germinated broad beans varied significantly (P<0.05) in overall acceptance in comparison to control treatment.

Preparation and properties of Nanostructure Zinc Oxide Thin Films
...Show More Authors

Zinc Oxide (ZnO) is probably the most typical II-VI
semiconductor, which exhibits a wide range of nanostructures. In
this paper, polycrystalline ZnO thin films were prepared by chemical
spray pyrolysis technique, the films were deposited onto glass
substrate at 400 °C by using aqueous zinc chloride as a spray
solution of molar concentration of 0.1 M/L.
The crystallographic structure of the prepared film was analyzed
using X-ray diffraction; the result shows that the film was
polycrystalline, the grain size which was calculated at (002) was
27.9 nm. The Hall measurement of the film studied from the
electrical measurements show that the film was n-type. The optical
properties of the film were studied using

Preparation and electrical properties of polyimide/carbon nanotubes composites

Abstract
Polyimide/MWCNTs nanocomposites have been fabricated by solution mixing process. In the present study, we have investigated electrical conductivity and dielectric properties of PI/MWCNT nanocomposites in frequency range of 1 kHz to 100 kHz at different MWCNTs concentrations from 0 wt.% to 15 wt.%. It has been observed that the electrical conductivity and dielectric constants are enhanced significantly by several orders of magnitude up to 15 wt.% of MWCNTs content. The electrical conductivity increases as the frequency is increased, which can be attributed to high dislocation density near the interface. The rapid increase in the dielectric constant at a high MWCNTs content can be explained by the form
... Show More

Mechanical and thermal properties of cockles shell cementing material
...Show More Authors

Mortar of ordinary Portland cement was blended with cockles shell
powder at different weight ratios to investigate the effect of powder
admixture on their strength and thermal conductivity. Results showed
that addition of cockles shell powder at 50% of mortar weight
improves hardness and compressive strength notably and reduces the
thermal conductivity of the end product. Results suggest the
possibility to incorporate cockles shell powders as constituents in
cement mortars for construction and plastering applications.

Ab initio structural and vibrational properties of GaAs diamondoids and nanocrystals
...Show More Authors

Gallium arsenide diamondoids structural and vibrational properties are investigated using density functional theory at the PBE/6-31(d) level and basis including polarization functions. Variation of energy gap as these diamondoids increase in size is seen to follow confinement theory for diamondoids having nearly equiaxed dimensions. Density of energy states transforms from nearly single levels to band structure as we reach larger diamondoids. Bonds of surface hydrogen with As atoms are relatively localized and shorter than that bonded to Ga atoms. Ga-As bonds have a distribution range of values due to surface reconstruction and effect of bonding to hydrogen atoms. Experimental bulk Ga-As bond length (2.45 Å) is within this distribu

Compositional Dependence of Structural Properties of Prepared Alloys and Films
...Show More Authors

Results of a study of alloys and films with various Pb content have been reported and discussed. Films of of thickness 1.5 μm have been deposited on glass substrates by flash thermal evaporation method at room temperature, under vacuum at constant deposition rate. These films were annealed under vacuum around 10−6Torr at different temperatures up to 523 K. The composition of the elements in alloys was determined by standard surfaces techniques such as atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and the results were found of high accuracy and in very good agreement with the theoretical values. The structure for alloys and films is determined by using X-ray

A Predictive Model for Estimating Unconfined Compressive Strength from Petrophysical Properties in the Buzurgan Oilfield, Khasib Formation, Using Log Data
...Show More Authors

Unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of rock is the most critical geomechanical property widely used as input parameters for designing fractures, analyzing wellbore stability, drilling programming and carrying out various petroleum engineering projects. The USC regulates rock deformation by measuring its strength and load-bearing capacity. The determination of UCS in the laboratory is a time-consuming and costly process. The current study aims to develop empirical equations to predict UCS using regression analysis by JMP software for the Khasib Formation in the Buzurgan oil fields, in southeastern Iraq using well-log data. The proposed equation accuracy was tested using the coefficient of determination (R²), the average absolute
