This study is dedicated to solving multicollinearity problem for the general linear model by using Ridge regression method. The basic formulation of this method and suggested forms for Ridge parameter is applied to the Gross Domestic Product data in Iraq. This data has normal distribution. The best linear regression model is obtained after solving multicollinearity problem with the suggesting of 10 k value.

Interleukin-35 (IL-35) is a new member of IL-12 family of cytokines, and its role in pathogenesis of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been recently suggested. Accordingly, a case-control study was conducted during June - October 2018 to determine IL-35 serum level in Iraqi patients with chronic HBV infection. The results revealed that IL-35 level was significantly decreased in patients as compared to control (163 vs. 301 pg/ml; p < 0.001). However, such decreased level was more pronounced in patients at the age groups < 40 and 40 – 50 years (165 and 145 pg/ml, respectively) as compared to the corresponding age groups in control (482 and 234 pg/ml, respectively). Reactive arthritis (ReA) has been as joint developing after infection, it belongs to spongylo arthritis (SpA). The etiology of this disease was multi factorial, the combination between genetic and environmental factors for triggering this disease. This study included 75 Iraqi Arab patients and 39 healthy control. Urine samples and blood were collected from each subject. The results showed that Escherichia coli bacteria (E. coli) was isolated from 32% of urine samples. HLA-B*27 allele frequencies was higher in ReA patients infected with E. coli. This lead to suggest that E. coli may be trigger factor in ReA patients with UTI which had HLA-B*27 positive.

  Chronic viral hepatitis is an important health problem in the world, where hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections are the main causes of liver insufficiency. The study included 100 blood samples from patients with chronic viral hepatitis, fifty of them with HBV infection and 50 with HCV infection. Twenty apparently healthy age and gender matched subjects were included as a control group. Out of the 50 patients with HBV, 36(72%) were males and 14(28%) were females. Thirty two (64%) patients with HCV were males and 18(36%) were females.
