Presupposition is the background belief that is known by both the speaker and the addressee, it is tied to particular words and aspects of the surface structure that act as linguistic triggers. The present study aims at investigating whether Iraqi fourth -year university students are able to recognize the English presuppositions through the meaning of these linguistic triggers .To fulfil the basic requirements of the study, the researcher has conducted a test . The results of the study have validated the hypothesis of the work and it is found that the linguistic triggers are important tools in recognizing presuppositions.    

Background : To assess the actual practice of breast self-examination (BSE), as an early detection tool for breast cancer, among a sample of patients affected with breast cancer in Iraq.Methods: A random sample of 200 female patients with breast cancer was analyzed to evaluate the extent of their actual practice of breast self-examination before the diagnosis of the disease.  The examined variables included the age of the patients, marital status, education, occupation, smoking habit, family history of cancer, frequency of gravidity, parity and abortions. Through my acquaintance with the literature of Iraqi women, specifically during the first half of the twentieth century, I noticed a lack of interest in this type of literature, which forms part of our literary history. Therefore, I decided to date this literature and extract its output from the stomachs of newspapers and magazines, so that readers can see it and remember the names of the Iraqi poets who defied the difficulties in order to participate in the literary movement and who made their contributions in the field of literature.
