The role of Adipocytokines, Vitamin D, and C in Colorectal Cancer
...Show More Authors

Colorectal cancer is the world's 3rd most frequent malignant neoplasm and the 4th most common cancer in Iraq. Leptin and Adiponectin are two major Adipocytokines produced by adipose cells that have opposite effects on the formation of colorectal tumors. Leptin induces tumor growth and metastasis, whereas Adiponectin inhibits it. 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D controls and limits cancer cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Vitamin C deficiency, on the other hand, has been regularly detected in cancer tissues and has potent anti-cancer properties. The purpose of this study was to look at the biochemical role of circulatory Adipocytokine levels (Adiponectin and Leptin) as well as the anti-cancer potentials of Vitamin D and C in CRC patients from Iraq. The research looked at confirmed cases of CRC who were seen at Nanakali Hospital for Blood diseases and Cancer in Erbil before their treatment sessions. A total of 35 patients with confirmed CRC cases and 36 healthy participants who were age, gender, and BMI matched were recruited. ELISA technique was used to quantify serum levels of Adiponectin, Leptin, Vitamin D, & C. The results showed a significant increase (P<0.0001) of serum Adiponectin levels (12.06±1.59) in CRC patients relative to the controls (2.05±0.96). On the contrary, the serum Leptin levels (24.09±2.92) were non-significantly lower (P=0.098) in CRC patients in comparison to controls (53.84±1.54). Furthermore, serum Vitamin D (13.14±1.21) and Vitamin C (1.03±0.10) levels in CRC patients were significantly lower (P<0.0001) when compared to controls (24.49±1.47, 5.78±2.16), respectively. The findings in the current study suggest an imperative biochemical role of Adipocytokines (Adiponectin and Leptin) and Adipose tissue dysfunction in the pathogenesis of CRC patients. Furthermore, decreased serum levels of Vitamin D and C reduce their effective anti-cancer effects, allowing Colorectal malignant neoplasms to survive and develop. Thus, the present study findings suggest Adiponectin and Leptin as potent prognostic and risk factors of CRCs. Also, Vitamin D and C deficiencies are the major risk factors among Iraqi CRC patients.

Breast Cancer Detection using Decision Tree and K-Nearest Neighbour Classifiers
...Show More Authors

Data mining has the most important role in healthcare for discovering hidden relationships in big datasets, especially in breast cancer diagnostics, which is the most popular cause of death in the world. In this paper two algorithms are applied that are decision tree and K-Nearest Neighbour for diagnosing Breast Cancer Grad in order to reduce its risk on patients. In decision tree with feature selection, the Gini index gives an accuracy of %87.83, while with entropy, the feature selection gives an accuracy of %86.77. In both cases, Age appeared as the most effective parameter, particularly when Age<49.5. Whereas Ki67 appeared as a second effective parameter. Furthermore, K- Nearest Neighbor is based on the minimu

The Role of FDI Inflows in Economic Growth in Malaysia (Time Series: 1975-2010)
...Show More Authors

Recently, Malaysia has been recognized as one of the most popular destinations for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Southeast Asia. But how do these FDI inflows affect Malaysia economy? This paper aims to identify the role of FDI inflows in Malaysia economic growth through a proposed endogenous growth model. Annual data covers from 1975 to 2010. Unit root test and Johansen Co-integration test are adopted to respectively verify the time series data is stable and the linear combination of the variables is stationary. Hierarchical Multiple Regressions (HMR) Analysis is then conducted to find out the momentum of the Malaysia economic growth including FDI inflows. The results show that the FDI inflows together with the human capital deve

Mechanisms of cancer cell death induction by triptolide

Abstract
Drug resistance is a hot topic issue in cancer research and therapy. Although cancer therapy including radiotherapy and anti‐cancer drugs can kill malignant cells within the tumor, cancer cells can develop a wide range of mechanisms to resist the toxic effects of anti‐cancer agents. Cancer cells may provide some mechanisms to resist oxidative stress and escape from apoptosis and attack by the immune system. Furthermore, cancer cells may resist senescence, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, necroptosis, and autophagic cell death by modulating several critical genes. The development of these mechanisms leads to resistance to anti‐cancer drugs and also radiotherapy. Resistance to therapy can increase mortal
... Show More

The etiological role of Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections in systemic lupus erythematosus of iraqi female patients
...Show More Authors

Recently, Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was considered as one of the autoimmune diseases that the genetic and environmental factors contributed in the disease etiological profile. According to the environmental factors, infectious agents have been concluded to have a role in the etiology and pathogenesis of SLE. Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae are among these infectious agents that have been suggested to be involved in the etiology of SLE. Accordingly, the current study was designed to assess the anti-C. pneumoniae and anti-M. pneumoniae IgG antibody status by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the sera of 64 Iraqi SLE females' patients and 32 Iraqi healthy females as controls. The patients' group were distribu

Chemical Productions and Immunological Assessments of Cancer Vaccines According to Α-Galactosylceramide and Ganglioside Antigen
...Show More Authors

iNKT cells, sometimes known as the immune system's "Swiss Army knife," have become key components of cancer vaccination treatments. Glycolipids that activate iNKT cells, including α-galactosylceramide (αGalCer), have been used to create self-adjuvanting anti-tumor vaccinations and can boost the immune response to co-delivered cancer antigens. The chemicals synthesis of ganglioside antigens, specifically (Neu5Gc) GM3 and GM3 antigen, and conjugations to αGalCer, and packaging into liposome as effective platforms for their in vivo deliverying are the main topics of this work. In mouse and human cell experiments, liposome containing, (Neu5Gc) GM3-αGalCer, GM3-αGalCer, and equimolar quantities of conjugates have thoroughly describe
