Ghrelin and Obestatin Levels as a Novel Marker in Iraqi Obese Children
...Show More Authors

Obesity is an escalating health problem in developing countries. One to ten children worldwide are overweight in a report showed by the International Obesity Task Force. Ghrelin, orexigenic peptide, has 28 amino acids, it is considered the greatest remarkable promotion in the last two decades for understanding the physiological changes of action regulating food intake and hunger. Obestatin is a 23-amino acid peptide nearly connected to ghrelin that secures from substitution splicing the alike resort molecule, pre-proghrelin. The study is designed to assess the level of ghrelin and obestatin in Iraqi obese children and its relation with other biochemical parameters. Ghrelin and obeststin levels were measured in sixty obese children; the range of their age was (5-16) years, and this group was compared to 30 children in a healthy state as a control. Serum FBS, PPBS, and also lipid profiles (TG, TC, HDL-c, and LDL-c) were determined in the studied groups. Calculation of insulin resistance was done by using (HOMA-IR) a Homeostasis Model assessment of insulin resistance. Ghrelin levels were lower in a significant way in subjects who have obesity in comparison with control group.  Significantly, there was a high increase in obestatin in obese patients when compared with control. This study demonstrates that obestatin raises and ghrelin is low in obesity, these hormones are related to the resistance of insulin, and there is an association between ghrelin and oxidative stress. The scales between obestatin and ghrelin are likely disturbed in obesity.

Investigation of phase change characteristics for refrigerant R-134a flow in a double pipe heat exchanger with the use of thermal non-equilibrium model
...Show More Authors

Almost all thermal systems utilize some type of heat exchanger. In a lot of cases, evaporators are important for systems like organic Rankine cycle systems. Evaporators give a share in a large portion of the capital cost, and their cost is significantly attached to their size or transfer area. Open-cell metal foams with high porosity are taken into consideration to enhance thermal performance without increase the size of heat exchangers. Numerous researchers have tried to find a representation of the temperature distribution closer to reality due to the different properties between the liquid and solid phases. Evaporation heat transfer in an annular pipe of double pipe heat exchanger (DPHEX) filled with cooper foam is investigated numerical

IT Infrastructure Readiness for Business according to the International Standard ISO/IEC 2025: 27031at Earthlink, the Internet Service Provider in Iraq: A case study
...Show More Authors

Abstract: The research aims to assess the level of readiness of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure for business continuity at Earthlink Telecommunications and Internet Services Company in Iraq, in light of the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 27031:2025. The research adopts a case study approach as an appropriate methodological framework for understanding and analyzing the organizational and technical complexity inherent in telecommunications sector organizations. To achieve the research objectives, a set of integrated data collection tools was employed, including field interviews with technical and administrative staff, a review of organizational documents and approved policies, as well as d

Reliability of the multipeg™ transducer in measuring dental implant stability by using a resonance frequency analysis device (Osstell®): An observational clinical study
...Show More Authors

Background: Measuring implant stability is an important issue in predicting treatment success. Dental implant stability is usually measured through resonance frequency analysis (RFA). Osstell® RFA devices can be used with transducers (Smartpeg™) that correspond to the implants used as well as with transducers designed for application with Penguin® RFA devices (Multipeg™). Aims: This study aims to assess the reliability of a MultiPeg™ transducer with an Osstell® device in measuring dental implant stability. Materials and Methods: Sixteen healthy participants who required dental implant treatment were enrolled in this study. Implant stability was measured by using an Osstell® device with two transducers, namely, Smartpeg™ and M

Serodiffusion of Helicobacter Pylori and HAV in Patients Attending Two Centers in Baghdad
...Show More Authors

Background: Helicobacters are motile curved, oxidase and catalase positive,
gram negative rods similar in morphology to vibrios. The cells have polar flagella
and are often attached at their ends given pairs "S" shapes or seagull
appearance.
Object i ves: The present study was undertaken to estimate the serodiffusion of
H. pylori and hepatitis A virus (HAV) in 300 patients attending two centers in
Baghdad.
Metthods:: HAV was determined by the detection of HAV-IgM in the serum samples. Detection of H. pylori was by ELISA and endoscopic examination.
Resul t s: The serodiffusion of H. pylori was 40% (n=120). Out of the 120
patients infected with H. pylori, 50(41 .6%) patients were diagnosed clinically to

Foreign Channels Speaking in Arabic and their Role in Addressing Middle East Issues
...Show More Authors

This research aims to understand how Middle Eastern issues are addressed in talk shows on foreign Arabic-speaking channels, taking “France 24 Arabic” as a model. It seeks to determine the channel’s level of attention to Middle Eastern issues in talk shows, the nature of the guests invited, the methods used to address the issues, and the professional characteristics of the program host. The study is descriptive-analytical in nature and relies on content analysis of episodes of the weekly talk show “A Week in the World” on France 24 during the period from August 1, 2017, to July 31, 2018. The main findings indicate that foreign Arabic-speaking channels pay attention to covering Middle Eastern issues, especially political and milita

Specifically, the study sought to analyze how their literary works, philosophical ideas, and political writings challenged Tsarist autocracy, depicted the suffering of the masses, and inspired opposition movements. The study aimed to highlight the defiant writings that contributed to the rise of political figures and the eventual overthrow of the repressive regime. Methods: The historical narrative and analytical methods were employed, conducting a comparative analysis of prominent works by renowned authors such as Tolstoy, Gorky, and Chekhov. Spatial and Temporal Analysis of Severe Dust Storm in Iraq in May 2022
...Show More Authors

Dust storms are a common ecological occurrence in many world‘s countries, mainly in dry and semi-dry parts. Dust storms tremendously influence human health, the environment, the climate, and numerous social aspects. In this paper, spatial and temporal analysis, metrological triggers, and trajectory, dust exporting areas of a severe dust storm that occurred in Iraq on May 16, 2022, were investigated. The dust storm's backward trajectory was determined using HYSPLIT model, which is then compared with MODIS and Meteosat satellite images. The weather is then analyzed using the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis model, and the approximate area of these sources was determined using Landsat 8 satellite image classification method. The results revealed
