Four new binuclear Schiff base metal complexes [(MCl2)2L] {M = Fe 1, Co 2, Cu 3, Sn 4, L = N,N’-1,4-Phenylenebis (methanylylidene) bis (ethane-1,2-diamine)} have been synthesized using direct reaction between proligand (L) and the corresponding metal chloride (FeCl2, CoCl2, CuCl2 and SnCl2). The structures of the complexes have been conclusively determined by a set of spectroscopic techniques (FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and mass spectra). Finally, the biological properties of the complexes have been investigated with a comparative approach against different species of bacteria (E. coli G-, Pseudomonas G-, Bacillus G+, Staphylococcus G+, and Streptococcus G+).
Some coordination complexes of Co(??), Ni(??), Cu(??), Cd(??) and Hg(??) are reacted in ethanol with Schiff base ligand derived from of 2,4,6- trihydroxybenzophenone and 3-aminophenol using microwave irradiation and then reacted with metal salts in ethanol as a solvent in 1:2 ratio (metal: ligand). The ligand [H4L] is characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis, C.H.N, 1H-NMR,13C-NMR, and mass spectra. The metal complexes are characterized by atomic absorption, infrared spectra, electronic spectra, molar conductance, (C.H.N for Ni(??) complex) and magnetic moment measurements. These measurements indicate that the ligand coordinates with metal (??) ion in a tridentate manner through the nitrogen and oxygen atoms of the ligand, octahedral st

Metal Complexes with ions have been also synthesized and characterized spectroscopic methods spectroscopy, flame atomic absorption, molar conductivity measurements and magnetic susceptibility. These studies indicate that the moler ratio for the complexes. Biological activity of the carotenoids which are produced fromchemically-mutaed local isolate of Rhodotorula mucilaginosawas studied. The results showed variation of inhibition activity of caritenoids against different types of pathogenic bacteria include, Staph aureus, E. coli, B. subtilis and Salmo. typh., the number declined from 2×107cell/ml to 2×104, 5×104, 2×105, 9×105 cell/ml respectively after 24hour. The produced carotenoids from alocal mutant Rhodotorula mucilaginosa revealed an antioxidant activity as free radical removal of 85.6%. Carotinoides revealed a highest stability in petroleum ether solvent for 30 days at room temperature. It found that the pigment was more stability in sesame oil compared with sun flower and coc

Acid hydrizide 3 was prepared by the reaction of hydrazine hydrate with new ester 2, which was later used to prepare derivatives of Schiff bases 4-13. In the last step, Schiff bases and thioglycolic acid were reacted to give thiazolidine derivatives 14-23. All these compounds were diagnosed using melting points, FTIR, 1HNMR and mass spectroscopy. Scheme 1 shows all the synthesized compounds' reaction steps and structures. Keywords: Thiazolidine; Schiff bases; biological activity; piperidine; dichloroacetic acid.
A new series of transition metal complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II) and Fe(III) have been synthesized from the Schiff base (L1) and (L2) derived from Semicarbazide hydro chloride and 4-chlorobenzaldehyde or 4-bromobenzaldehyde. The structural features have been arrived from their elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductivity, IR, UV-Vis. and 1H NMR spectral studies. The data show that the complexes have composition of [M(L)2](NO3)2 and [Fe(L)2 (NO3)2](NO3) where the M=Co(II),Ni(II) and Cu(II) ;L=L1and L2 type. The magnetic susceptibility and UV-Vis spectral data of the complexes suggest a square planer geometry for Co(II) and Cu(II) but Fe(III) octahedral geometry and Ni(II) tetrahedral geometry around the central metal i

Show MoreA phosphorus‐containing Schiff base was prepared from bis{3‐[2‐(4‐amino‐1,5‐dimethyl‐2‐phenylpyrazol‐3‐ylideneamino)ethyl]indol‐1‐ylmethyl}phosphinic acid and paraformaldehyde as a novel antibacterial compound. The reaction of the Schiff base ligand with VO(IV), Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Pd(II) and Pt(IV) led to binuclear species of metal complexes, depending on the ratio of metal ion and ligand. The ligand and its complexes were investigated using elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–visible and mass spectra, thermogravimetric analysis, conductivity measurements and thermal analysis. The results showed that the S
