Monitoring of Defects Concentration in Deformed Aluminum Using Doppler Broadening Technique
...Show More Authors

Doppler broadening of the 511 keV positron annihilation ??? ? was used to estimate the concentration of defects ?? different deformation levels of pure alnminum samples. These samples were compressed at room temperature to 15, 22, 28, 38,40, and 75 % thickness reduction. The two-state ^sitron-trapping model has been employed. 'I he s and w lineshape parameters were measured using high-resolution gamma spectrometer with high pure germanium detector of 2.1 keV resolution at 1.33 MeV of 60Co. The change of defects concentration (Co) with the deformation level (e) is found to obey an empirical formula of the form Cd - A £ B where A and ? are positive constants that depend mainly on the deformation procedure and the temperature at which the deformation takes place.

REMOTE SENSING MONITORING OF CHANGES IN SOIL POLLUTION A CASE STUDY IN A REGION IN BAGHDAD, IRAQ
...Show More Authors

One of the main environmental problems which affect extensively the areas in the world is soil salinity. Traditional data collection methods are neither enough for considering this important environmental problem nor accurate for soil studies. Remote sensing data could overcome most of these problems. Although satellite images are commonly used for these studies, however there are still needs to find the best calibration between the data and real situations in each specified area. Landsat satellite (TM & ETM+) images have been analyzed to study soil pollution (Exacerbation of salinity in the soil without the use of abandoned agricultural for a long time) at west of Baghdad city of Iraqi country for the years 1990, 2001 & 2007. Concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide by Batch Distillation Column
...Show More Authors

An investigation was conducted to study the concentration of hydrogen peroxide by vacuum distillation. The effect of the process variables (such as vacuum pressure, reflux ratio, time of distillation, and packing height of the column used in the distillation process) on the concentration of hydrogen peroxide were investigated. During the third stage of distillation (95 wt.%) concentration was obtained.

Box-Wilson central composite rotatable design is used to design the experimental work for the mentioned variables. It was found that the concentration of hydrogen peroxide increases with Increasing vacuum pressure, decreasing reflux ratio, increasing the time of distillation and increasing the packing height.

Investigating the Influence of Precursor Concentration on the Photodegradation of Methylene Blue using Biosynthesized ZnO from Pometia pinnata Leaf Extracts
...Show More Authors

The ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized at various precursor concentrations i.e. 0.05, 0.1, and 0.5 M by biosynthesis method based on Pometia pinnata Leaf Extracts. Initial nanoparticle concentration influenced the optical bandgap, shape, and structure of nanoparticles. The photodegradation process was carried out under UV illumination. The efficiency of MB degradation was determined by measuring the decrease in MB concentration and by analyzing the optical absorption at 663 nm recorded by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Results showed that the biosynthesized ZnO nanoparticles exhibited efficient photodegradation of MB, with a maximum degradation rate of 80% after 90 minutes of exposure to UV-C light. The study highlights the potential of Pometia pi
