In this paper we proposed the method of X-ray fluorescence (XRF) determination of some essential trace elements in medicinal herbs and vitamin-mineral complexes at the level of 10⁰-10¹ mg/ml. To increase sensitivity and selectivity of the determination we simple and effective approach based on the extraction of metal ions from aqueous solutions with chemically modified polyurethane foam sorbents followed by direct XRF analysis. The conditions of sorption preconcentration of Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) ions with modified sorbents were optimized. Five N-substituted acrylamides were prepared by reaction of substituted aromatic primary amines with acryloyl chloride in the presence of triethyl amine. The synthesized acrylamides were allowed to introduce copolymerization reaction with three vinylic monomers including acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate respectively to obtain eleven new copolymers having different physical properties which may used in different applications.

An aromatic ester containing two azo groups namely p-nitro phenyl azo-β-naphthyl-(4'-azobenzoic acid)-4-benzoate was synthesized by esterfiaction of 4,4'-azo dibenzoic acid with p-nitro phenyl azo-β-naphthol. Synthesized ester was characterized by CHN-Elemental analysis, FTIR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR. New substituted anthraquinones with amino derivations fragments were synthesized through the substitution of bromine atom by different amines using the Ullmann coupling reaction. This work involves synthesis of amides containing isoxazoline unit starting with
chalcone; 4-[3-(3‾-nitrophenyl)-2-propene- 1-one]-aniline[I]. 4-Aminoacetophenone was
reacted with 3-nitrobenzaldehyde in basic medium giving chalcone [I] by claisen-schemidt
reaction. The chalcone [I] was reacted with hydroxylamine hydrochloride giving isoxazoline
[II] in NaOH basic medium. The amides with structural formula [III]a-h were prepared by the
reaction of amino compounds ; isoxazoline [II] with different acid chlorides in dry pyridine
and using DMF as a solvent at 4

C. All the synthesized compounds have been characterized
by melting points , FTIR and

HMNR (of compound [III]a) spectroscopy.

In this research, Schiff bases derived from the reaction of anthrone with different heterocyclic amines have been described. The resulted Schiff base compounds were reacted with various nucleophiles in order to obtain new heterocyclic derivatives. Chemical structures of all products were confirmed by IR, 1H-, 13C-NMR spectral data and elemental analysis. All synthesized compounds were in vitro tested against a standard strain of pathogenic microorganism including Gram +ve bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), Gram –ve bacteria (Escherichia coli), and fungi (Candida albicans).
