Prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus in Hepatitis C Patients in Wazirabad Tehsil of Gujranwala District of Pakistan: hepatitis C in Diabetic patients
...Show More Authors

Hepatitis, a condition of liver’s inflammation that can be self-limiting or, in certain chances, it may lead to liver cancer, fibrosis or cirrhosis. Hepatitis viruses mainly cause hepatitis in the world. People with hepatitis C have predominant chances to develop diabetes as HCV virus participates in causing type 2 diabetes. HCV virus causes pathogenesis in two ways: it either directly destroys the β cells of pancreas or contributes to the specific autoimmunity of β cells. The present cross sectional study was done in Wazirabad Tahsil of Gujranwala District to analyze the percentage of patients suffering from hepatitis C who had the risk of diabetes mellitus. For this research work, demographic information and data about any other medical history were collected by using a questionnaire. Blood samples were collected from hospital and real time PCR was performed to measure the viral load and blood sugar was measured by using glucometer. Data were then analyzed by using statistically designed software. A total of 29.33% patients, having hepatitis C, were found to be diabetic in Tehsil Wazirabad. 14.70% male and 38.59% female patients having hepatitis C were diabetic. From results shown that the patients of hepatitis C are at higher risk to develop diabetes, therefore; it is supposed that persons having hepatitis C should regularly visit doctors for routine check-up of diabetes and change their life style to reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

The effect of unsecured use of chemical pesticides on the environment and health in Iraq
...Show More Authors

The wide use of pesticides in recent years leads to rapid distribution of these pollutants in the environment (air, water and soil). They were transported by means of air or water to biological ecosystems. They become more toxic through the processes of biological magnification while some of them persist for along period. The aim of this work is to show the negative effect that chemical pesticides causes, and in the same to show their side effect on the environment and health in Iraq. We could conclude that the bad use of these chemicals could cause an urgent impact now or in the future. Governmental offices dealing with these materials should take the right measures to minimize the danger and the misuse of these chemicals by seeking alternat

Study of Micellar Behavior of a Tween 80 Surfactant in Aqueous Media Containing Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride
...Show More Authors

The surface properties of mixtures of a nonionic surfactant Tween 80 (Tw 80) and a cationic drug, diphenhydramine HCl (DPH) have been investigated. This was done by calculating the surface excess concentration (Γmax), minimum molecular area (Amin), surface pressure at the CMC (ᴨcmc), Gibbs Free Energy of adsorption (ΔG°ads), Gibbs free energy of micellization (ΔG°m), the standard enthalpy of micellization (ΔH°m), and the standard entropy of micellization (ΔS°m). The calculation was performed using the surface tension in the temperature range of 293-323 K with the variation of surfactant concentration to determine the crit

Investigation of the Anti-cataract and Antioxidant Activities of Cnidoscolus aconitifolius Leaves Extract In vitro
...Show More Authors

Background: Cataract is a major cause of visual impairment and blindness around the world. This study evaluated the in vitro antioxidant and anti-cataract activities of Cnidoscolus aconitifolius leaves extract and fractions. Antioxidant activities were evaluated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiozoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS), total reducing power, and hydrogen peroxide scavenging assays. Anti-cataract potential was evaluated in vitro using goat lenses divided into eight groups of different treatments and incubated in artificial aqueous humor at 37 °C for 72 hours. Glucose-induced opacity in the lenses was observed and biochemical indices quantified (cata

Efficacy of Amphotericine B Ddrug Against Promastigote and Axenic Amastigote of Leishmania Dononvani in Vitro
...Show More Authors

Leishmania are protozoan parasites belonging to the family Trypanosomatidae that cause high morbidity and mortality levels with a wide spectrum of clinical syndrome. This study aimed to investigate the effect of liposomal amphotericine B (AmBisome) drug on promastigote and axenic amastigote stages of Leishmania donovani isolate (MHOM/IQ/2005/MRU15)in comparison with pentostam SbV drug. Different concentrations of AmBisome and SbV drugs were investigated against Leishmania donovani promastigote and axenic amastigote. The ICR50R values of SbV and AmBisome drugs on promastigote were10.12 mg/ml and 2.21μg/ml, respectively, while they were 0.77μg/ml for axenic amastigote for both drugs. The present study concluded that axenic amastigote was

Review of the Mechanisms for Preventing, Diagnosing, and Treatment of Pipe Sticking in Drilling Operations
...Show More Authors

Stuck pipe is a prevalent and costly issue in drilling operations, with the potential to cost the petroleum industry billions of dollars annually. To reduce the likelihood of this issue, efforts have been made to identify the causes of stuck pipes. The main mechanisms that cause stuck pipes include drill cutting of the formation, inappropriate hole-cleaning, wellbore instability, and differential sticking forces, particularly in highly deviated wellbores. The significant consequences of a stuck pipe include an increase in well costs and Non-Productive Time (NPT), and in the worst-case scenario, the loss of a wellbore section and down-hole equipment, or the need to sidetrack, plug, or abandon the well. This paper provides a comprehensive

Effect of Curcumin at Various Doses on the Pharmacokinetic Profile of Tacrolimus in Healthy Rabbits
...Show More Authors

The purpose of present study is to evaluate the effect of co-administration of curcumin (CUR) at various doses on the pharmacokinetic (PK) profile of tacrolimus (TAC), a CYP 3A4 substrate in healthy male rabbits. Healthy male rabbits (n=18) were employed in an in vivo, parallel-randomized study. Three groups of rabbits were selected and separated: The rabbits in the first group (control group) received 1 mg/kg TAC orally. Blood samples (1.5-2 mL) were drawn from rabbits' ear marginal veins at the following time frames:  15.0, 30.0, 45.0, 60.0, 90.0, 120.0, 150.0, 180.0 and 300 minutes after TAC administration post dosing and analyzed by using a TAC chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay (CLIA) detection kit. In the second and third gro

In-Vitro evaluation of load-deflection characteristics and force levels of nickel titanium orthodontic archwires
...Show More Authors

Background: Nickel-titanium (NiTi) archwires have become increasingly popular because of their ability to release constant light forces, which are especially useful during initial alignment and leveling phase. The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare the load–deflection characteristics of four commercially available NiTi archwires. Materials and methods: 200 NiTi 0.014, 0.016, 0.018, 0.016x0.022 and 0.019x0.025-inch nickel–titanium archwires from four different manufacturers (3M, Ortho Technology, Jiscop and Astar) were tested. The load-deflection properties of these archwires were evaluated by a full arch bending test in both palatal and gingival directionsat 37°C temperature using a universal material t

Effect of Feed Concentration on the Production of Pregelatinized Starch in a Double Drum Dryer
...Show More Authors

Double drum dryer is operated for producing pregelatinized maize starches using feed starch slurries of different
solids(7, 10 and13 g/100 g )content . Steam pressure (2,3,and 4 bar), the level of pool between the drums (4,7,and 10
cm) , and speed of drums rotation (3,4,and 6 rpm) are varied together with the feed solids content in a practical range of
values. The response of the dryer is registered by measuring several output variables, i.e. external drum temperature,
product moisture content, mass flow rate.
