Uptake of Three Pharmaceuticals by Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) from Contaminated Soils: امتصاص ثلاثة انواع من الادوية بواسطة نبات الفاصولياء في التربة الملوثة
...Show More Authors

The ability of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) to uptake three pharmaceuticals (diclofenac, mefenamic acid and metronidazole) from two types of soil (clay and sandy soil) was investigated in this study to explore the human exposure to these pharmaceuticals via the consumption of beans. A pot experiment was conducted with beans plants which were grown in two types of soil for six weeks under controlled conditions. During the experiment period, the soil pore water was collected weekly and the concentrations of the test compounds in soil pore water as well as in plant organs (roots, stems and leaves) were weekly determined.
The results showed that the studied pharmaceuticals were detected in all plant tissues; their concentrations in plant roots were higher than plant stems and leaves. The extent level and accumulation of the studied pharmaceuticals in sandy soil was higher than the clay soil. The concentration of diclofenac in plant tissues was higher than both of mefenamic acid and metronidazole, indicating that diclofenac is more available to plant. The content of dissolved pharmaceuticals in soil pore water decreased gradually over time during the experimental period confirming the ability of beans to uptake these pharmaceuticals from soil.
The results suggest the possibility of studying pharmaceuticals to be accumulated in beans tissues despite their low concentrations in the studied soils.

The Thermal Pre-processing Technique of the Bio-waste for Contaminated Water Treatment: Histological and Experimental Study
...Show More Authors

The current study suggested a thermal treatment as a necessary proactive step in improving the adsorption capacity of bio-waste for contaminants removal in wastewater. This approach was based on the experimental and histological investigation of biowaste pods shell. This investigation showed that these shells compose of parenchyma cells that store secondary metabolites compounds produced from cells were exhibited in present study. The results also reported that these compounds are extracted directly from the cells as soon as they are exposed to an aqueous solution, hampering their use as an adsorbent material. The increase in the weight of bio-waste adsorbent at unit liquid volume increases the production of secondary metabolites compounds

Use The Crustacean Cyclocypria As Bioclaner For Bacteria Escherichia Coli & Staphylococcus Aurous In Contaminated Water.
...Show More Authors

In this study the Individuals of Ostracoda crustacean Cyclocypria were used as bioclaner of two species of bacteria namely Escherichia coli & Staphylococcus aurous, these bacteria have been introduced to an artificial aquatic environment with known number from pure cultures. The aim was to check the predation efficiency and ecological role of Cyclocypria as biological cleaners.      The results showed that the predation rate was between 6 106 ×  and 7× 10 6 colony/ ml/ 3 days/ 10 crustacean in the first three days. This rate increased remarkably in the 9th, 12th & 15th day from the beginning of the experiment and it was 10 × 10 6 and 15 × 10 6 respectively.  &nb

Comparison of Protein Concentration in Red and White Muscles in Two Species of Bony Fish
...Show More Authors

The current study deals with estimating the protein concentration and the effect of fish weight on protein concentration values in red and white muscles in two different regions ( R1 : Anterior region lies 2 cm behind the head and R2: posterior region lies 2cm from caudal fin  (in  two types of bony fish, namely common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Samples were collected from Karmat Ali river- north of Basrah between October 2019 and February 2020. The protein was extracted using protein extraction buffer, the current study show that the average of  protein concentration in red muscles of Nile tilapia ranged between  7.74-7.4 mg / ml  and ( 6.8-8.85 mg / ml) in R1 and R2 region re
