New series of 4,4'-((2-(Aryl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole1,3(2H)-diyl)bis(methylene))Diphenol(3a-g) was successfully synthesized from cyclization of the reduction product of bis Schiff bases (2) with aryl aldehydes bearing phenolic hydroxyl in the presence of acetic acid. The structure of these compounds was identified from FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and EIMs. The Antioxidant capability was screened by DPPH and FRAP assays. Both assays showed antioxidant capability more than BHT as well. Compounds 3b and 3c showed antioxidant capacity slightly less than ascorbic acid. Two ligand ortho-amino phenyl thio benzyl (L1) and 1,3 bis (ortho - amino phenyl thio ) acetone (L2) and their complexes have been prepared and characterized . The L1 ligand is lossing phenyl group on complexcation and forming 1,2 bis (ortho - amino phenyl thio ) ethane L3 and this tetrahedrally coordinated to the metal ion ( M+2 = Ni , Cu , Cd ) and octahedrally coordinated with mercury and cobalt ions , while the ligand L2 is behave as tridentate ligand forming octahedrally around chrome metal ion . Structural , diagnosis were established by i.r , Uv- visible , conductivity elemental analysis and (mass spectra , H nmr spectra for( L1 , L2 ) .

SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION, STRUCTURAL, THERMAL, POM STUDIES, ANTIMICROBIAL AND DNA CLEAVAGE ACTIVITY OF A NEW SCHIFF BASE-AZO LIGAND AND ITS COMPLEXATION WITH SELECTED METAL IONS

A new ligand [N-(4-methoxy benzoyl amino)-thioxo methyl ] leucine (MBL) was prepared from the reaction of (4-methoxy benzoyl isothiocyanate with leucine acid in molar ratio (l:l), it was characterized by elemental analysis (C.H.N.S), FT-IR, UV-Vis, 1H and 13C-NMR. The complexes of the bivalent ions (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Hg ) have been prepared and characterized too. The structural was established by elemental analysis (C.H.N.S), FT-IR, UV-Vis spectra, conductivity measurements atomic absorption and magnetic susceptibility and determination of molar ration (M:L). The complexes showed characteristic behavior of tetrahedral geometry around the metal ions except with (Cu) complex showed square planer.

In the present work, the phthalic acid (phthH2) and 1.10 phenonthroline (phen), and their complexes were synthesized and isolated as [M(phth)(phen)2], Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II) Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) ions.
