This study was designed to evaluate the effect of anesthesia on thyroid hormones (T3, T4, rT3), thyrotropin(TSH), and cortisol levels in patients undergoing major urological surgery. The study included fifty patients scheduled for elective major urological surgery where 70% of the patients underwent general anesthesia, while30% underwent regional anesthesia. All patients were in stable control general conditions. The study showed that the thyroid hormones, thyrotropin and cortisol levels were affected with general anesthesia more than regional. The levels of these hormones responded to anesthetics and surgical stresses. This response was thought to be mainly mediated by afferent neurogenic impulses from the area of injury. Therefore, abolition of sensory as well as autonomic afferent stimuli by neurogenic blockaded types of anesthesia such as (epidural anesthesia) that may help in reducing the excretion and metabolic response to surgery.
A new 5‐fluorouracil–naproxen conjugate is synthesized as a mutual prodrug for targeting cancer tissues. The structure of the target compound and their intermediate are characterized by their melting point, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and elemental microanalysis. The cytotoxic activity is preliminarily evaluated using nonsmall lung cancer CRL‐2049, human breast cancer CAL‐51, and one type of normal cell line; rat embryo fibroblast cell line. The synthesized compound shows a good cytotoxic effect at the cancer cell and no significant effect at rat embryo fibroblast cell line.
Objective(s): To assess the burden of mothers` care for child with colostomy and find out relationships between child and mother socio-demographic data with mothers` burden. Methodology: a descriptive study was conducted from 1 August 2013 to 1 September 2014. The sample consisted of 100 children and their mothers at Baghdad Teaching hospital in Baghdad city. A questionnaire was prepared based on the previous literature review, meeting mothers of children with colostomy, and the Zarit Burden Interview scale. Data has collected through the application of questionnaire and interview techniques. Results: T
The design of this paper is to find the possible correlation of Epstein Barr virus infection ina group of Iraqi women with cervical carcinoma though detection of Latent Membrane Protein 1 (LMP1) in these cervical tissues. Paraffinized blocks of two groups were included. The first sample of 30 cervical carcinomatous tissues and 15 biopsies from an apparently normal cervical tissues. All the samples were sectioned on a positive charged slides with 4 mm – thickness then submitted for immunohistochemical (IHC) staining to detect viral LMP1 expression. Sixty three percentage (19 out of 30) of the studies group showed positive overexpression as shown in with a significant association of the expression with cervical cancer with a significant ass

The research problem lies in this que

Three separated steam power plants which Dura , south –Baghdad and Nasria were studied . The investigation showed the possibity of increasing the electric power from 10 to 15% for Dura and Nasria , whereas 6% for south – Baghdad . According to the nowadays of operation to Iraqi steam power plants , the results showed that by cutting–off high pressure feed water heaters we can generate additional electric power about 250 MW during 3-4 hrs. daily. In addition, the fuel consumption can be reduced in comparison with diesel generat
