The effect of surlactin produced by Lactobacillus acidophilus on eye infectious bacteria in rabbits

Twenty five vaginal swabs from outpatients' healthy women were collected from Kamal Al-Samarai Hospital, Baghdad, to isolate and identify of Lactobacillus acidophilus. Three isolates were diagnosed as L. acidophilus which represents 15% of the total number of lactic acid bacterial (LAB) isolates; other LAB types represent 65% (20 isolates). The ability of L. acidophilus to produce surlactin was detected after measuring its biological activity to inhibit the adhesion of biofilm formed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa to surfaces using test tube method. It was found that all isolates were able to produce surlactin but the activity of surlactin was varying in each isolate. Surlactin produced by isolates 1 and 13 was the most effective. Biological applications of surlactin were studied by inhibiting the adhesion of pathogenic P. aeruginosa producing biofilm on contact lenses. In this study the surlactin has the ability to inhibit the adhesion up to 60% and 55% for isolates 1 and 13 respectively and does not have an antibacterial activity.Surlactin showed an ability to treat the infection in rabbits' eyes with P. aeruginosa while it did not show this ability against Staphylococcus aureus. Additionally, it prevented the infection with P. aeruginosa when administrated to rabbits' eyes inoculated with these bacteria only, while it showed no effect against S. aureus.

Spectroscopic Study of Plasma Parameters Produced by Pin-Plate DC Discharge Technique

In this work, plasma parameters such as electron density (ne), electron temperature (Te), Debye length (λD), plasma frequency (fPlasma), and Debye number (ND) for Cu plasma produced by Pin-Plate DC discharge were studied. Spectroscopic technique was used to analyze and determine spectral emission lines. The value of the electron density for Cu was in the range (1.5–3.5)×1018cm-3 and for the electron temperature was in the range ( 1.31 – 1.61)eV. Finally, plasma parameters of Cu were caculated through plasma produced by Pin-Plate DC discharge using different voltages (600-900) V.

Diagnostics of Magnesium-Aluminum alloy plasmas produced by laser induced breakdown spectroscopy

In this work, the Al-Mg alloys plasma plume that produced under vacuum (10-1 torr) by Nd:Yag Laser was studied. the plasma spectra were analyzed by comparing the atomic lines of Al and Mg lines with standard lines. The effect of laser energies on spectral lines produced by laser ablation were investigated using optical
spectroscopy .several plasma characteristics like electron temperature, electron density, Debye’s length, plasma frequency and number of particles in the ‘‘Debye’s Sphere’’ were calculated in vacuum .The results show the electron temperature and electron density increase in magnesium, aluminum and magnesium :aluminum alloy
targets . It was found that the lines intensities at

Histological and mechanical evaluation of the osseointegration of titanium implants by the modifications of thread design and/or coating with flaxseed (An experimental study on rabbits)

Background: Dental implant surface technologies have been evolving rapidly to enhance a more rapid bone formation on their surface and improve implant therapy.Implant threads should be designed to increase surface contact areathat induced better stability. In addition, implant surface coating with Flaxseed was used to enhance bone formation at the bone-implant interface. Materials and methods: Ninety-six commercially pure titanium (CpTi) screws were implanted in rabbits' tibiae and divided into three groups as dual-threaded group, flaxseed-coated group and control group. All groups were evaluated mechanically, histologically and radiographically after each healing periods (2, 4, 6 and 8) weeks and the resulting data were statistically analy

The influence of some amino acids, vitamins and anti-inflammatory drugs on activity of chondroitinase produced by Proteus vulgaris caused urinary tract infection

Two hundred and ten specimens include urine, blood and ear swab were collected from different hospitals in Baghdad city; 85 (40%) isolates were diagnosed as Proteus spp. with (82%), (11.7%) and (5.8%) represented in urine, blood and ear swab specimens respectively. PCR technique was shown 30 (35.3%) isolates were positive for specific Urease C gene that used in rapid detection of Proteus vulgaris. The ability for chondritinase production was checked invetro and invevo, 24 (80%) isolates of P. vulgaris were showed ablity to chondritinase production and the isolate (p17) has higher enzyme activity value to (175.2U/ml). The Chondroitinase was purified by three short steps only included precipitate with 60% saturated of ammonium sulfate, dia

THE ROLE OF EFFLUX PUMP FOR ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE IN BACTERIA: THE ROLE OF EFFLUX PUMP FOR ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE IN BACTERIA

ABSTRACT

The multi-drug resistant efflux pump is a glycoprotein pump whose function is to push foreign substances. The efflux pump is found in humans, animals. It also has wide-ranging properties in  bacteria and fungi. They are found in all species of bacteria, and efflux pump genes can be found in bacterial chromosomes or mobile genetic elements, such as plasmids. The most sensitive function that leads to a global problem is its resistance to antibiotics in bacterial cells, which increases the ability to bacteria from becoming strong virulence factors that most or all antibiotics cannot kill. It also has othe

Antifungal Activity of Bioactive Compounds Produced by the Endophytic Fungus Paecilomyces sp. (JN227071.1) against Rhizoctonia solani

Biologically active natural compounds are molecules produced by plants or plant-related microbes, such as endophytes. Many of these metabolites have a wide range of antimicrobial activities and other pharmaceutical properties. This study aimed to evaluate (in vitro) the antifungal activities of the secondary metabolites obtained from Paecilomyces sp. against the pathogenic fungus Rhizoctonia solani. The endophytic fungus Paecilomyces was isolated from Moringa oleifera leaves and cultured on potato dextrose broth for the production of the fungal metabolites. The activity of Paecilomyces filtrate against the radial growth of Rhizoctonia solani was tested by mixing the filtrate with potato dextrose agar medium at concentrations of 15%,

Effect of the electric field on drilling Brass by Laser

The research include a pulsed Nd: YAG Laser with (300µs) pulse duration in the TEM00 mode at (1.06µm) wavelength for energies between (0.5-3) J was employed to drill Brass material which is use in industrial applications. The process of drill was assisted by an electric field. This resulted in an increase in the hole aspect ratio by the value (45%) and decrease in the hole taper by the value (25%) of its value under ordinary drilling conditions using the same input energy.
