Study the effect of polyphenols extracted from Iraqi grape seeds on glucose , MDA levels and GST activity in streptozotocin (STZ ) induced diabetic mice.
...Show More Authors

1-Objective:- Polyphenols are biochemical compounds with antioxidant activity against differences diseases related to Lipid peroxidation such as diabetes mellitus. Polyphenols distributed widely in medical plants, the aim of the study is to extract and analyze some polyphenolic compounds from grape seeds and examine their effects on (STZ) induced diabetic mice. 2-Methods:- In the present study , a group of polyphenols has been extracted from Iraqi grape seeds by ethanol and the extract has been analyzed by using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) coupled to ultra violet (UV) detection. Five fractions were eluted from the column : procyanidin B1, gallic acid , quercetin , catechin and epicatechin. The detection was recorded at (280 nm). The reactive action of the above polyphenols on glucose, and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and glutathione – S – transferase (GST) activity was tested in (30) streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic mice which treated with extracted grape seeds polyphenols to examine the antioxidant effect of these compounds . Grape seeds polyphenols action on the above parameters was determined before treatment and after (1 week), ( 2 weeks) and (3 weeks) of treatment with this reactive extract. 3-Results:- The data have shown that glucose levels were increased in (30) diabetic mice (after injection with streptozotocin) compared with control group (p<0.001) but after treatment with grape seeds polyphenols , glucose levels were decreased relatively (p<0.001) after (1 week), (p<0.001) after (2 weeks) and (p<0.01) after (3 weeks) of treatment with these polyphenolic compounds. MDA levels were increased for diabetic mice (after injection with streptozotocin) compared with control group (p<0.001) but after treatment with grape seeds polyphenols , MDA levels were decreased relatively (p<0.01) after (1 week) ,(p<0.01) after (2 weeks) and (p<0.05) after (3 weeks) of treatment. GST activity was increased in diabetic mice (after injection with streptozotocin ) compared with control group (p<0.001) but after treatment with grape seeds polyphenols , GST activity was decreased relatively (p<0.01) after (1 week), (p<0.01) after (2 weeks) an (p<0.05) after (3 weeks)of treatment with these antioxidant compounds. 4-Conclusion:- Our data indicated that glucose , MDA levels and GST activity correlated positively with oxidative stress related to diabetes mellitus.

Electrolytic preparation of Iron powder with particle Size Less than 106 pm
...Show More Authors

Avery large numbers of articles are made by powder metallurgical methods using electrolytically reduced metal powders. Iron powder is one of these powders which play an important role in this field. Its preparation by electrolytic method is economic in comparison with the traditional methods (Atomization and carbonyl processes).

An electrochemical cell consisting of two electrodes (stainless steel cathode and iron anode, 99.9%) was used to study the electrolytic preparation of iron powder with particle size less than 106µm directly as powde1y form. Ferrous sulphate electrolyte was used containing sodium chloride as a stabilizing agent. The produced powder was thoroughly washed with an acidified distilled water and absolute ethan

Refinement for Ocular Ultrasound Images Quality by Utilizing Combination of Enhancement Techniques
...Show More Authors

Ultrasound has been used as a diagnostic modality for many intraocular diseases, due its safety, low cost, real time and wide availability. Unfortunately, ultrasound images suffer from speckle artifact that are tissue dependent. In this work, we will offer a method to reduce speckle noise and improve ultrasound image to raise the human diagnostic performance. This method combined undecimated wavelet transform with a wavelet coefficient mapping function: where UDWT used to eliminate the noise and a wavelet coefficient mapping function used to enhance the contrast of denoised images obtained from the first component. This methods can be used not only as a means for improving visual quality of medical images but also as a preprocessing

Structural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Hollow Beams under Partial Uniformly Distributed Load
...Show More Authors

A Longitudinal opening is used to construct hollow core beam is a cast in site or precast or pre stressed concrete member with continuous voids provided to reduce weight, cost and, as a side benefit, to use for concealed electrical or mechanical runs. Primarily is used as floor beams or roof deck systems. This study investigate the behavior of six beams (solid or with opening) of dimension (length 1000 x height 180 x width120mm) simply support under partial uniformly distributed load, four of these beam contain long opening of varied section (40x40mm) or (80x40mm). The effect of vertical steel reinforcing, opening size and orientations are investigated to evaluate the response of beams. The experimental behavior based on load-deflection

Semi-Analytical Assessment of Magneto-Hydrodynamic Nano-Fluid Flow Jeffrey- Hamel Problem
...Show More Authors

In this paper, analyzing the non-dimensional Magnesium-hydrodynamics problem Using nanoparticles in Jeffrey-Hamel flow (JHF) has been studied. The fundamental equations for this issue are reduced to a three-order ordinary differential equation. The current project investigated the effect of the angles between the plates, Reynolds number, nanoparticles volume fraction parameter, and magnetic number on the velocity distribution by using analytical technique known as a perturbation iteration scheme (PIS). The effect of these parameters is similar in the converging and diverging channels except magnetic number that it is different in the divergent channel. Furthermore, the resulting solutions with good convergence and high accuracy for the d

Preparation of Al2O3 /PVA Nanocomposite Thin Films by a Plasma Jet Method
...Show More Authors

Alumina thin films have significant applications in the areas of optoelectronics, optics, electrical insulators, sensors and tribology. The novel aspect of this work is that the homogeneous alumina thin films were prepared in several stages to generate a plasma jet. In this paper, aluminium nanoparticles suspended in vinyl alcohol were prepared using exploding wire plasma. TEM analysis was used to determine the size and shape of particles in aluminium and vinyl alcohol suspensions; the TEM images showed that the particle size is 17.2 nm. Aluminium/poly vinyl alcohol (Al/PVA) thin films were prepared using this suspension on quartz substrate by plasma jet technique at room temperature with an argon gas flow rate of 1 L/min. The Al/PV

Computer literacy is an urgent necessity for university students, given the rapid development in the means of communication in which we live in this era, and the flow of abundant information. Mainly on the computer in all administrative and academic transactions, where first of all the registration for the semester is done through the computer. Computer culture has many characteristics and advantages that distinguish it from other sciences, including the concept of computer culture that cannot be defined absolutely, and it is difficult to define its levels, because the specifications of the computer-educated individual differ from one individual to another, and from time to time also, you find it a luxury in a country What, and you
