Hepatoprotective Effect of Echinops tenuisectus (Compositae) on CCl4 Induced Hepatic Damage in Rats
...Show More Authors

Flavonoids are known to play a vital role in the management of various liver disorders. They are a large family of compounds synthesized by plants; they belong to a group of natural substances with variable phenolic structures. In this study we aim to scan the types of flavonoids in a newly studied, wild Iraqi plant named Echinops tenuisectus of Compositae family. The medicinal importance of flavonoids on one hand, and the absence of any phytochemical investigation on tenuisectus species of Echinops genus on the other hand, acquired this study itۥs importance. Three flavonoids were identified in the seed,s extract of this plant (Silymarin, Rutin, Quercetin ) by two chromatographic methods, first Thin layer chromatography (TLC) using TLC ready made GF254 plates, UV detector at 254 nm, and two different solvent systems in which the Rf value of the standards (Silymarine, Rutin, Quercetin) matched with the Rf value of the Silymarin, Rutin and Quercetin found in the plant seed٫s extract. High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) was the other chromatographic method that used to identify the presence of these flavonoids in the plant seed. The plant seed ۥs aqueous extract was evaluated for its efficacy in rats by inducing hepatotoxicity with CCl4.Single oral dose of 250mg/kg of Seeds Extract was given to ratۥs for 7 days. Serum activities of transaminases (ALT and AST) were used as the biochemical marker of hepatotoxicity. Histopathological changes in ratُُs liver section were also examined. The results of the study indicated that, the pretreatment of rats with Echinops extract before the hepatotoxins agent (CCl4) offered a hepato- protective action.

Effect of Inhalation Exposure to Nano-Imidacloprid on Liver and Kidney Functions In Male Rats
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Pesticide poisoning is a serious global public health issue and is responsible for a sizable number of annual fatalities. This study was designed to examine the potentially harmful effects of adult rats being exposed to imidacloprid (IMD) as a nanoparticle by determining the chronic effect of inhalation of (5,10 and 20) mg/kg/b.w. of nano-imidacloprid for a duration of 60 days. The most important biochemical parameters of the serum liver function parameters were aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and alkaline phosphatase ALP, kidney function [blood urea, creatinine, and urea], and oxidative stress parameters (MDA, GSH, and CAT) in all treated groups when</p> ... Effect of Cold Atmospheric Pressure Plasma on Fertility Hormones for Female Rats
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The direct application of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) is the main scope of plasma medicine in or on the organism for curative purposes. Cold plasma is both effective in disrupting a wide range of microorganisms including multiple drug resistant ones (MDRs) and to stimulate proliferation of mammalian cells. It has obtained by Floating Electrode Dielectric Barrier Discharge (FE-DBD) system. The present study aimed to show the effected of cold plasma on the fertility hormones LH, Prolactin, Estrogen, and Testosterone hormones for healthy adult female rats (Albino) / bulb c). There are divided into many groups according to time exposure of plasma (15, 30, 60, and 90 second) and a refere</p> ... Show More

The Influence of Helicobacter pylori Infection on Hepatic Enzymes, Inflammatory Markers, and Hematological Parameters in Patients with Gastritis
...Show More Authors

Helicobacter pylori (HP) colonizes the gastric mucosa and causes gastric and extra-gastric disorders. Several liver diseases, such as Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, seem to be caused by the gastrointestinal tract, which is primarily determined by the presence of bacteria like Helicobacter pylori. The study aims to evaluate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and liver diseases by measuring liver enzymes, inflammatory markers, and hematological parameters among patients with gastritis and without Helicobacter pylori infection. A total of 1,325 patients who had gastritis diagnosed by gastroscopy were included in our study. They were divided into the HP– group (340 women, 323 men) and the HP+ group (330 women,

The Effect of Gas Flow on Plasma Parameters Induced by Microwave
...Show More Authors

In this paper, construction microwaves induced plasma jet(MIPJ) system. This system was used to produce a non-thermal plasma jet at atmospheric pressure, at standard frequency of 2.45 GHz and microwave power of 800 W. The working gas Argon (Ar) was supplied to flow through the torch with adjustable flow rate by using flow meter, to diagnose microwave plasma optical emission spectroscopy(OES) was used to measure the important plasma parameters such as electron temperature (Te), residence time (Rt), plasma frequency (?pe), collisional skin depth (?), plasma conductivity (?dc), Debye length(?D). Also, the density of the plasma electron is calculated with the use of Stark broadened profiles

Histological Evaluation of Effect of beta-Tricalcium Phosphate on Bone healing in Alloxan-Induced diabetes
...Show More Authors

Background: Improved glucose level control with insulin injections have allowed for the diabetic population to live longer and healthier lives. Unfortunately diabetes remains a worldwide epidemic disease with multiple health implications. Specifically, its effects upon fracture healing are compromised in diabetics with as high as 87% recovery delay relative to “healthy” counterparts. Current medical treatments for bone injuries have been largely focused on replacing the lost bone with allogenic or autogenous bone grafts, beta-tricalcium phosphate (β -TCP), a ceramic alloplast, has interconnected system of micropores, has been widely used as a biologically safe osteoconductive bone substitute. The aim of this study was histol

Abstract

Background: anabolic androgenic steroids (AASs) are becoming increasingly popular between bodybuilders and people who want to enhance their physiques. However, according to the rise of the Internet and laws prohibiting sales of these substances without prescription, the route of obtaining and administration practices have become more and more dangerous.

Objective: Anabolic-androgenic steroids represents a group of synthetic testosterone derivatives its play an important role in clinical treatment. These group of drugs are widely abused among the general public to increase lean body weight and improve athletic performance. It has been reported that AAS use can cause many adverse e

Antioxidant Activity of Total phenols and Flavonoids extracted from Echinops polyceras roots grown in Syria

Free radicals are reactive compounds, their excessive production is considered to be an important cause of oxidative damage in biomolecules causing degenerative diseases. Polyphenols are one of the most important groups of secondary metabolites of plants, which have an antioxidant activity depending on their properties as hydrogen donors. Echinops polyceras Boiss. (Asteraceae) is one of Echinops genus species that spread in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine. Phytochemicals found in this species leaves have been extracted with gradient polarity solvents, and primary screening of the secondary metabolites was established. The phenolic compounds and flavonoids contents were determined. The free radicals scavenging act
