Some Variables Affecting the Formulation of Oral Loratadine Suspension
...Show More Authors

Loratadine is a long acting non-sedating anti-histaminic agent that was developed for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, whose anti-histaminic action is more effective than the other anti-histaminic drugs available commercially. This project was carried out to prepare an acceptable suspension through studying the release of drug in presence of different types and concentrations of suspending agents such as polysorbate 40, xanthan gum, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC), aluminum magnesium silicate (veegum) and sodium alginate. The effects of these suspending agents were studied at pH 1.2 (0.1N HCl) and 37 Ù’C. The results showed that the release rate of loratadine in the presence of these suspending agents was dependent on their types and concentrations. The results showed that loratadine release from the formula prepared from xanthan gum is more than that prepared from other polymers in the following order: Sodium alginate < NaCMC < veegum < xanthan gum. However, elegancy of suspension was better on using xanthan gum in a concentration of 0.5%. The obtained results were utilized to formulate 0.1% suspension of loratadine which is physically stable with an optimum drug release. The rheology, sedimentation volume, resuspendability and expiration date were evaluated for the selected formula. The formula that contains loratadine, xanthan gum, glycerol, sorbitol, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, sodium edetate, raspberry flavor at pH 5.0 appears to be a promised formula to be present with estimated shelf life of about 3.8 years.

A simple stability-indicating HPLC method for simultaneous analysis of paracetamol and caffeine and its application to determinations in fixed-dose combination tablet dosage form
...Show More Authors

A simple, economic, rapid, reliable, and stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of paracetamol (PCM) and caffeine (CF) in solid dosage form. The chromatographic separations were achieved with a Waters Symmetry® C18 column (5 μm, 4.6 × 150 mm), using a mixture of methanol and water (40:60, v/v) as a mobile phase, under isocratic elution mode with a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min, and ultraviolet (UV) detection was set at 264 nm. The oven temperature for the column was set and maintained at 35 °C. The method was validated according to International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines, and it demonstrated excellent linearity, wi

Green Tea–Driven Green Synthesis of a Curcumin@Platinum Nanohybrid with Multifunctional Antioxidant, Burn-Healing Agent, and Selective Anticancer against PANC-1 Pancreatic Cancer Cells
...Show More Authors

This study aimed to fabricate a curcumin@platinum nanohybrid (CUR@Pt NPs) through a green tea–based synthesis method and to evaluate its various functions, including antioxidant, burn-healing, and selective anticancer activities against PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cells. Green tea polyphenols served as natural reducing and stabilizing agents, facilitating an eco-friendly, single-step manufacturing process. Physicochemical characterization confirmed successful nanohybrid formation: a CUR@Pt band appeared at 457 nm in the UV–Vis spectrum, XRD displayed crystalline platinum peaks at 2θ = 46.9°, and 67.0°, matching the (200), and (220) planes, respectively, and TEM images showed well-dispersed spherical nanoparticles with an average siz

Synthesis, Characterization, Thermal Studies, and Antioxidant Activities of Azo Dye[2-[(3-Hydroxyphenyl)diazinyl]-1,2-Benzothiazol-3(2H)-one-1,1-Dioxide]and Metal Ion Complexes
...Show More Authors

The new azo dye was synthesized via the reaction of the diazonium salt form of 3-aminophenol with 2-hydroxyquinoline. This dye was then used to access a series of complexes with the chlorides of manganese, iron, zinc, cadmium, and vanadium sulfate. The prepared ligand and its complexes were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-visible spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimeter, and microelemental analysis. Conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, metal content, and chlorine content of the complexes were also measured. The ligand and cadmium complex were identified using1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The results showed that the shape of the ligand is a trigonal planner, and the c

Polypyrrole-coated zinc/nickel oxide nanocomposites as adsorbents for enhanced removal of Pb(II) in aqueous solution and wastewater: An isothermal, kinetic, and thermodynamic study
...Show More Authors

One common heavy metal that is extremely harmful to the kidneys, reproductive system, and nervous system of humans is lead (Pb). This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a novel nanocomposite adsorbent, synthesised from polypyrrole, zinc oxide, and nickel (PPy/ZnO-NiO), in eliminating Pb(II) ions from a waterbased solution. This adsorbent offers excellent metal selectivity, environmental stability, ease of manufacture, and reusability. Several techniques, namely XRD, FTIR, TGA, SEM, TEM, EDX, and BET, were employed to characterize the synthesised nanocomposite adsorbent. The study examined the impact of multiple factors influencing the adsorption process, including pH, temperature, contact period, metal ion concentration, and ad
