Evaluation of Stability of Cefamandol and Ceftazidime with Clavulanic Acid Against Extended Spectrum ?- Lactamase
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study is to evaluate in-vitro activity of Cefamandol (Cfm) and Ceftazidime (Cfz), in combination with Clavulanic acid (CA) against ten complicated multiresistant uropathogenic E.coli .One hundred clinical strains were isolated from patients with chronic urinary tract infections (UTIs), these isolates were identified by the Api identification systems. The antimicrobial susceptibility tests were determined by Kirby-Bauer method, all of them were sensitive to Imipenem (Imp). Ten strains were chosen for the present study, they were resistant to Ampicillin (Amp), Amoxicillin (Amo), Carbenicillin (Cb), Ticarcillin (Tic), Azlocillin (Azl), Amoxicillin\ Potassium Clavulanate {Augmentin(Amc)}, (Amo\CA), Ticarcillin\ Potassium Clavulanate {Timentin} (Tic\CA) ,Cefazolin (Cfo) ,Cefaloridin (Cfr), Cefamandol, (Cfm),Cefoxitin, Ceftazidime (Cfz), Cefixime   (Cxm), Cefoperazone( Cfp) and Aztreonam (Atm), also resistant to other antibiotics, Tetracycline(Tc),Cloramphenicol(Cm),Gentamycin(G),Amikacin (Amk), Ciprofloxacin (Cip) and Trimethoprim. 50% of the isolates were resistant to Nalidixic acid and Rifampicin. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of Cefamandol and Ceftazidime were determined, by tube method. Transfer of plasmids were done by direct conjugation test to sensitive standard E.coli ,cell free β- lactamases were prepared and detected by macro-iodometric method. The activity of each cell free ß– lactamases extract against Cfm and Cfz were determined by disks diffusion method (microbiological Masuda method). Excellent activities were obtained against these strains when Cfm and Cfz, combined with CA, therefore complete zones of inhibition were obtained indicated the prevalence of extended spectrum β- lactamases in E.coli. The stability of Cfm and Cfz in the presence of CA were useful in the treatment of chronic urinary tract infections caused by multiresistant β- lactamase (ESBL) producer E.coli.

Key words: Extended spectrum β- lactamases, Imipenem, Aztreonam, Ceftazidime.

Statistical Analysis of the Removal of Acid Fuchsin Dye Using Zeolite 5A
...Show More Authors

Investigation of the adsorption of acid fuchsin dye (AFD) on Zeolite 5A is carried out using batch scale experiments according to statistical design. Adsorption isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamics were demonstrated.  Results showed that the maximum removal efficiency was using zeolite at a temperature of 93.68751 mg/g. Experimental data was found to fit the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo second order kinetics with maximum  removal of about 95%.  Thermodynamic analysis showed an endothermic adsorption. Optimization was made for the most affecting operating variables and a model equation for the predicted efficiency was suggested.

...Show More Authors

2-Amino-5-aryl- 1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid (A1-A3) were synthesized from the reaction of various aromatic aldehyde with dichloro acetic acid and thiourea. The synthesis of 2-[[(Saminosulfinim-idoyl)(aryl)methyl](benzoyl)amino]-5-aryl-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxylic acid (A22-A30) was perfomed starting from (A1-A3) by two steps using Schiff's base (A4-A12) prepared  from the reactant compounds (A1-A3) with different aromatic aldehyde. Finally two types of imide derivatives were obtained from reactant compounds (A1-A3) with malic anhydride (A31-A33) and phthalic anhydride (A34-A36) in the presence of glacial acetic acid. All proposed structures were supported by FT-IR and UV-Visible spectroscopic data.

Cytotoxicity and Anticancer Effect of Chitosan-Ag NPs-Doxorubicin-Folic Acid Conjugate on Lungs Cell Line
...Show More Authors

This study looked at how the synthetic chitosan-AgNPs-Doxorubicin-folic acid combination affected the A549 cell line in terms of cytotoxicity and anticancer activity. By reducing silver nitrate (AgNO3) and biodegradable chitosan, silver nanoparticles were biosynthesized. The produced conjugate was examined by using FT-IR spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The cytotoxicity assay for the viability of A549 cells revealed that the combination of chitosan, AgNPs, doxorubicin, and folic acid decrease cell viability in a dose-determined by method over 48 hours, which direct to a dependent reduce in the activity of A549 cells. The mechanism analysis of the impacted living cells lea
