Phytochemical Investigation of Alkaloids in the Iraqi Echinops heterophyllus (Compositae)
...Show More Authors

Alkaloids are a group of naturally occurring chemical compounds that contain mostly basic nitrogen atoms . They are a large family of compounds synthesized by plants in addition to the bacteria, fungi, and animals,  they often have pharmacological effects. The aim of this study is to isolate and identified alkaloids in a newly studied, wild Iraqi plant named Echinops heterophyllus. The medicinal importance of alkaloids, on one hand  and the absence of any phytochemical investigation on heterophyllus species of echinops genus on the other hand , acquired this study its importance. Three alkaloids (named E1, E2 and E3) were isolated from seed plant part by two chromatographic methods: Preparative high Performance Liquid Chromatography (PHPLC) and preparative thin layer chromatography (PTLC), one of them identified as(1-Methyl-2,3-dihydro-4(1H)-quinolinone by different chemical analysis like: ultra violet spectrum analysis (UV spectrum), Fourier transforms infrared spectra (FT-IR) , elemental microanalysis (CHN) and Proton1H-NMR and carbon 13C-NMR analysis.

Key words: Echinops, heterophyllus, quinoline alkaloids.

An Investigation to the Abrasive Wear in Pipes Used for Oil Industry
...Show More Authors

The work reported in this study focusing on the abrasive wear behavior for three types of pipes used in oil industries (Carbone steel, Alloy steel and Stainless steel) using a wear apparatus for dry and wet tests, manufactured according to ASTM G65. Silica sand with
hardness (1000-1100) HV was used as abrasive material. The abrasive wear of these pipes has been measured experimentally by measuring the wear rate for each case under different sliding speeds, applied loads, and sand conditions (dry or wet). All tests have been conducted using sand of particle size (200-425) µm, ambient temperature of 34.5 °C and humidity 22% (Lab conditions).
The results show that the material loss due to abrasive wear increased monotonically with

Phytochemical Study of Cynara scolymus L. (Artichoke) (Asteraceae) Cultivated in Iraq, Detection and Identification of Phenolic Acid Compounds Cynarin and Chlorogenic Acid
...Show More Authors

The leaves of globe artichoke, Cynara scolymus Family Asteraceae/ compositea have long – used in traditional medicine and now included in British and European Pharmacopeia, the British Harbal Pharmacopeia and complete German Commission E monographs. The plant originally comes from Mediterranean region and North Africa and cultivated around the world. The flowers are used worldwide for nutrition purposes and the leaves for medical purposes including hepatic affections. The plant wildly distributed in Iraq in the watery lines and boundary of the field. The plant contains many phytochemicals such as the bitter phenolic acids whose choleretic and hypocholestremic as these compounds are antioxidant. Investigation over Efficient Broadcasting Mechanism in MANET
...Show More Authors

Mobile ad hoc network is nothing but the temporary network which is having the collection of mobile nodes. Routing and broadcasting are major operations of MANET network. The major operation in ad hoc mobile network is the broadcasting which sometime results to storm problem of the broadcast if the forwarding mechanism is not properly designated. Thus the challenges in the MANET are to reduce the broadcasting redundancy and under high transmission error rate provides high delivery ratio. Hence in our proposed research, we are introducing and investigating the new mechanism of broadcasting called Dual Covered Broadcast. This method takes the broadcast redundancy advantage order to improve packet delivery ratio especially under environments w

Behavioral Investigation of Reinforced Concrete T-Beams with Distributed Reinforcement in the Tension Flange
...Show More Authors

Current design codes and specifications allow for part of the bonded flexure tension reinforcement to be distributed over an effective flange width when the T-beams' flanges are in tension. This study presents an experimental and numerical investigation on the reinforced concrete flanged section's flexural behavior when reinforcement in the tension flange is laterally distributed. To achieve the goals of the study, numerical analysis using the finite element method was conducted on discretized flanged beam models validated via experimentally tested T-beam specimen. Parametric study was performed to investigate the effect of different parameters on the T-beams flexural behavior. The study revealed that a significant reduction in the

The Effect of Group Investigation Model on Learning overhead and underarm Pass in Volleyball
...Show More Authors

Volleyball is one of the sports that require physical and skill abilities thus many teaching models appeared to teach these abilities like group investigation model. The research aimed at identifying the effect of group investigation model on learning underarm and overhead passing in volleyball. The researchers hypothesized statistical differences between pre and posttests in learning underarm and overhead passing in volleyball as well as differences in posttests of controlling and experimental groups in learning underarm and overhead passing in volleyball. The researcher used the experimental method on (30) second year female students of physical education and sport sciences college/ university of Baghdad. Group investigation model was app

Investigation of the Characteristics of CO (1-0) Line Integrated Emission Intensity in Extragalactic Spirals
...Show More Authors

This paper aims to deal with the understanding of the properties of the molecular gas hydrogen in the extragalactic spirals sample. It is critical to make observations of CO (J = 1-0) line emission for spiral galaxies, particularly those with an energetic nucleus.  In the sample of spiral galaxies compiled, a carbon monoxide CO (1-0) emission line can be observed. This sample of galaxies' gas kinematics and star-forming should be analyzed statistically utilizing appropriate atomic gas HI, molecular gas H2, infrared (1μm-1000μm), visual (at λblue-optical=4400A0), and radio spectrum (at νradio=1.4 GHz and 5GHz) databases. STATISTICA is software that allows us to perform this statistical analysis. The presence of a high scale of s

Investigation of the Natural Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) in the cyprinus carpio fishes breeding in artificial lakes of Baghdad governorate
...Show More Authors

The steady consumption of fish led many researchers to study it preferences over other foods, especially for radioactivity content. The specific activity concentration (S.A) of natural occurring radioactive materials (NORM) have been measured for Cyprinus carpio fishes collected from several industrial fishes' lakes located in Baghdad governorate using gamma spectroscopy doped with high purity germanium coaxial detector (HPGe). Thirteen fishes' samples were collected from industrial lakes, three samples were collected from cages, and two samples were collected from Trigger River. The last two types of samples were collected in order to compare the results with it. The measured overall averages of S.A for Ra-226, Th-232, and K-40 were 58.

In vivo immunohistochemical investigation of the effect of the topical application of growth hormone on the osseointegration of cpTi implant
...Show More Authors

Background: Dental implants are a suitable option for the replacement of some or all missing teeth. The successful insertion of a biocompatible material into living tissue with little to no evidence of rejection has revolutionized medicine and dentistry. An increase in bone response was observed with local administration of growth hormone around dental implants. Growth hormone may act as a bone stimulant in the placement of endosseous dental implants and enhances osseointegration. The aim of the study was to evaluate immunohistochemically the effect of the topical application of growth hormone on the osseointegration of cpTi implant. Materials and Methods: Eighty titanium screw implants were inserted in the tibia of the forty adult rabbits.
