The present work included qualitative study of epiphytic algae on dead and living stems, leaves of the aquatic plant Phragmitesaustralis Trin ex Stand, in Tigris River in AL- Jadria Site in Baghdad during Autumn 2014, Winter 2015, Spring 2015, and Summer 2015. The physical and chemical parameters of River’s water were studied (water temperature, pH, electric conductivity, Salinity, TSS, TDS, turbidity, light intensity, dissolve oxygen, BOD5, alkalinity, total hardness, calcium, magnesium and plant nutrient).     This study done was carried out identify the species of parasitical lice on.   White cheeked bulbul(Pycnonotus leucotis).For this purpose 24 birds were collected from AlDiwaniya city and examined externally for the lice.The results showed that  P. leucotis  was infested with five species of chewing lice with a total infestation ratio of 87.5% .These species were:- Menacanthus sp., Columbicola columbae , Bonomiella columba , Coloceras damicorne and  Alcedoecus sp.       The result of this study represents the first isolation of these species from white cheeked bulbul in Iraq.The species were recorded from P. leucotis as a new host for such parasites. This study is carried out to evaluate the effect of steel slag (SS) as a by-product of the geotechnical properties of clayey soil.
