Detection of Serum Ferritin in Women with Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in females. In Iraq there are noticeable elevation in incidence rates and prevalence of advanced stages of breast cancer. Ferritin is intracellular iron storage protein abundant in circulation and its main application in differential diagnosis of anemia.

The level of serum ferritin was found raised in various cancers including breast cancer. The aim of this study was to assess whether the serum ferritin concentration would be altered in Iraqi women with breast cancer and it could be related to progression of disease.

Sixty eight females participated in this study. The mean age of these females was 53.25± 9.52 .The level of serum ferritin was measured in 24 Iraqi women of early stage of breast cancer (stage I and II) and 24 Iraqi women of advanced stage (III and IV). These levels were compared with 20 healthy females as controls. Serum ferritin was estimated by using enzyme linked immune sorbent assay method. This serum ferritin was found to be raised in all breast cancer patients (p<0.05) as compared to controls. The rise in ferritin level was significant in advanced stage (p<0.05) as compared to early stage. Thus the estimation of ferritin may aid in diagnosis, assessment of severity and monitoring of Iraqi women with breast cancer.

Cryptography with Dynamic DNA Depending on Edge Detection

Making the data secure is more and more concerned in the communication era. This research is an attempt to make a more secured information message by using both encryption and steganography. The encryption phase is done with dynamic DNA complementary rules while DNA addition rules are done with secret key where both are based on the canny edge detection point of the cover image. The hiding phase is done after dividing the cover image into 8 blocks, the blocks that are used for hiding selected in reverse order exception the edge points. Immunohistochemical Expression of Bcl3 in Human Breast Carcinoma

B-Cell lymphoma 3 is a putative proto-oncogene that involved in central oncogenic pathways that regulate cell death, apoptosis and metastatic of tumor cells so it could be important as a target to validation as a diagnostic or prognostic marker in these tumors. This study revealed positive expression of Bcl3 in (76.6%) of 47 cases infiltrating ductal carcinoma and (61.7%) of positive were strong positive. These results showed no significant association of immunohistochemical expression of Bcl3 with clinicopathological features as well no relation with immunohistochemical expressions of estrogen rreceptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2/neu).
