The Role of Clinical Pharmacist in Reducing Drug Related Problems in Hemodialysis Patients
...Show More Authors

Abstract

Prescribing drugs to patients to treat ailments or reducing their morbidity may not be enough, even if the drugs were all indicated and in the right dose. Clinical pharmacists play a pivotal role in conducting information and instruction to patients and conveying feedback to treating physician when appropriate, and the final goal is in the interest of the patient.  Identification and classification of drug related problems and discussing them with the health care providers.  Prospective, interventional, clinical study for 180 hemodialysis patients, and was designed as two phases, an observational phase to identify drug related problems and classifying them according to the latest Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe classification, an interventional phase to increase the awareness of patients and the nephrologists about those problems and proposing a proper solution for each one.  The main drug related problems was related to the effect of drug treatment being not optimal in 58.7%, followed by no effect in 17.8%, and least for unrelated symptoms or indications in 4.8%; causes were inappropriate combination and patients taking less drug than prescribed (both 17.4%), followed by no/or incomplete drug treatment in spite of existing indication in 12.2%, drug without indication in 10.4%. Erythropoietin and calcium were the most frequently drugs with problems. Acceptance and full implementation were observed in 34.3%, while half of the drug related problems had unknown implementation (51.3%). There were significant numbers of drug related problems among Iraqi patients on hemodialysis, the use of erythropoietin, calcium carbonate and sevelamer  was responsible for most of inappropriate combinations. Physicians and clinical pharmacist cooperation was excellent.

A Study of Mobile Inbound Roamers Data During Occupation Period 2008-2009 In Iraq
...Show More Authors

Roaming data is an important source of information about the political and social activities of a country. And this is true for Iraq situation after 2003 when the mobile companies started their business. In this paper, data of subscribers roamed onto foreign networks (inbound roamers) is collected; it consists of the name of the Radio Control Point, the counter dealing with this type of information, Mobile Network Code/Mobile Country Code tupel.  This data is processed. Results obtained out of this process show the classification of the inbound roamers (according to their countries) during the occupation period (2008-2009). These results reflect the political situation of Iraq at that time. Information resulted from this proc

It is common that extraterrestrial solar radiation Ra value lessen due to the interaction with atmosphere components to result a net solar radiation Rn value about one third of Ra for most measurements on earth. Net solar radiation had major impact on air temperature (To) value statement. So, its estimation is crucial for analyzing the interaction of (atmosphere-vegetation-soil).

Many methodologies available for this aim directly (with radiometer) or indirectly (with air temperature-based formula or soil plus air temperatures-based formula). The peak influences of global warming phenomenon were in eighties decade of the last century, yielding Iraq Rn rates to get cl

Effective Metadiscourse Strategies in Texts of English and Arabic Trade Agreements to attain persuasion
...Show More Authors

Persuasion is a process studied by many scholars from the Greek time until the present. One persuasion strategy is metadiscourse, which refers to the writers' awareness of their text, the way they present themselves to the readers. The writers use metadiscourse markers to help the readers understand the real meaning of the text (Hyland 2005).  The paper carries out a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the employment of persuasive metadiscourse markers in two English trade agreements and two Arabic agreements has provided in terms of Hyland's (2005) model of interactive and interactional markers. The aim is to find out whether all types of metadiscourse markers are used or not, and also to see whether English or Arabic employs

Petrophysical Properties and Digenetic Evolution of Shuaiba Formation in Nasiriyah Oil Field, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Shuaiba Formation is a carbonate succession deposited within Aptian Sequences. This research deals with the petrophysical and reservoir characterizations characteristics of the interval of interest in five wells of the Nasiriyah oil field. The petrophysical properties were determined by using different types of well logs, such as electric logs (LLS, LLD, MFSL), porosity logs (neutron, density, sonic), as well as gamma ray log. The studied sequence was mostly affected by dolomitization, which changed the lithology of the formation to dolostone and enhanced the secondary porosity that replaced the primary porosity. Depending on gamma ray log response and the shale volume, the formation is classified into three zone

Prediction of Surface Roughness and Material Removal Rate in Electrochemical Machining Using Taguchi Method
...Show More Authors

Electrochemical machining is one of the widely used non-conventional machining processes to machine complex and difficult shapes for electrically conducting materials, such as super alloys, Ti-alloys, alloy steel, tool steel and stainless steel.  Use of optimal ECM process conditions can significantly reduce the ECM operating, tooling, and maintenance cost and can produce components with higher accuracy. This paper studies the effect of process parameters on surface roughness (Ra) and material removal rate (MRR), and the optimization of process conditions in ECM. Experiments were conducted based on Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array (OA) with three process parameters viz. current, electrolyte concentration, and inter-electrode gap. Sig
