Transcatheter balloon valvuloplasty for children with severe pulmonary valve stenosis: A single-center experience
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p> Objectives: this study aim to assess the effectiveness of the Transcatheter balloon valvoplasty (BVP) of severe Pulmonary stenosis (PS) and identify possible complications and predictors for the outcome.</p><p> Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at the Iraqi Center of Cardiac Diseases for a 2-year duration in the period from 2021 to the end of 2023; the patients with confirmed severe PS of both genders within the age equal to or less than 18 years were included. For every patient included in the present study, the following data were collected: Demographic data, Echocardiographic criteria Hemodynamic parameters pre- and post-Cath, Catheterization data including the site of vascular access, need for general anesthesia and tracheal intubation, number and size of balloons used, any complications recorded at therapeutic session obtained from Cath lab archive.</p><p> Results: After BVP, the pressure gradient across the valve reduced from 105±25 to 32 ± 11(mmHg), (P<0.001); the systemic right ventricular pressure dropped from 120 ± 25 (mmHg) before to 54 ± 14 (mmHg) after (P<0.001). A significant increase in the systemic pulmonary pressure from 18 ± 4 (mmHg) before to 22 ± 3(mmHg) (P<0.001). Tricuspid valve regurgitation (TVR) reduced significantly (P=0.002). Pulmonary incompetence (PI) changed from mild to moderate and severe in 12 cases (P=0.001). Nine cases (20%) developed complications; 6 (13.3%) supraventricular tachycardia and 3 (6.7%) Cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The strongest association to complication occur-rence was pulmonary valve annulus size with r= 0.417 and TVR and PI severity with P=0.001, 0.017, respectively.</p><p> Conclusion: Transcatheter BVP is an effective procedure for severe PS cases but carry a risk of cardiac complications. The complication rate was linked to the patients’ demographical characteristics and PV annulus size and degree of TVR and PI severity.</p>

Study of Some Mechanical Properties for a Polymer Material Reinforcement with Chip or Powder Copper
...Show More Authors

In this paper, chip and powder copper are used as reinforcing phase in polyester matrix to form composites. Mechanical properties such as flexural strength and impact test of polymer reinforcement copper (powder and chip) were done, the maximum flexural strength for the polymer reinforcement with copper (powder and chip) are (85.13 Mpa) and (50.08 Mpa) respectively was obtained, while the maximum observation energy of the impact test for the polymer reinforcement with copper (powder and chip) are (0.85 J) and (0.4 J) respectively

The Necessary and Sufficient Optimality Conditions for a System of FOCPs with Caputo–Katugampola Derivatives
...Show More Authors

The necessary optimality conditions with Lagrange multipliers  are studied and derived for a new class that includes the system of CaputoKatugampola fractional derivatives to the optimal control problems with considering the end time free. The formula for the integral by parts has been proven for the left CaputoKatugampola fractional derivative that contributes to the finding and deriving the necessary optimality conditions. Also, three special cases are obtained, including the study of the necessary optimality conditions when both the final time  and the final state  are fixed. According to convexity assumptions prove that necessary optimality conditions are sufficient optimality conditions.

Study of Television Advertising and its Impact on Consumer Behavior in a Sample of Children Aged 9-12 Years
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study was to study TV advertising and consumer behavior in children and to meet the needs of children. The study included 100 children from Baghdad who were randomly selected from different regions ranging in age from 9-12 years of both males and females. The current research was based on the interview and the completion of special forms prepared for this purpose. This age group was selected for the rare studies conducted on television advertising and limited to different sectors. Data on age and sex were documented, as the results of this study proved The afternoon period was the preferred period for watching the TV show in males, where it was 22%, while the morning period was the female favorite, and it was 23%. The ind

Background: Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) is an important respiratory bacterial pathogen, especially among children. It causes acute upper and lower respiratory infections. Objective: This study was aimed to measure anti- M. pneumoniae antibodies among hospitalized children who were admitted to hospital diagnosed with acute respiratory tract infections.Method: Automated ELISA technique was performed to detect anti- M. pneumoniae antibodies (IgM and IgG antibodies) in serum from 108 children less than 5 years old. The children were admitted to the Pediatric Teaching Hospital in Suleimani city/Kurdistan Region/Iraq because of acute respiratory tract infections. A questionnaire was designed to collect demographic and clinical data fr

In Vitro The Effect of Canals Instrumented With Three Rotary Ni-Ti Systems on The Dislocation Resistance of Guttafusion® Versus Single Cone Obturation Technique
...Show More Authors

Background: Complete seal of the root canal system following its chemo-mechanical debridement plays a pivotal role for achieving successful endodontic treatment. This can be established by reducing the gaps between the core filling material and root canal wall. Aim: To assess and compare the dislocation resistance of root canals obturated with GuttaFusion® and TotalFill BC sealer versus single cone obturation technique and TotalFill BC sealer after instrumentation of the canals with WaveOne, ProTaper Next and ProTaper Universal system. Material and Method: Sixty extracted human permanent mandibular premolars were conducted in the current study. The teeth were decorated and left the root with 15mm length; the roots were divided randoml

...Show More Authors

Background: First six to twelve months after initial urinary tract infection, most infections are caused by Escherichiacoli, although in the first year of life Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas, Enterobacter spp andEnterococcus spp, are more frequent than later in life, and there is a higher risk of urosepsis compared with adulthood

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of bacterial isolates from Urinary Tract Infections of children at a children hospital in Baghdad and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns.

Type of the study: Cross-sectional study.

Methods: During six months of study (1 June to 31 Dece

Comparison of the Safety and Efficacy of Laser Versus Pneumatic Intracorporeal Lithotripsy for Treatment of Bladder Stones in Children
...Show More Authors

This study aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of laser lithotripsy and pneumatic lithotripsy, the two most commonly used transurethral lithotripsy methods for treating bladder stones in children in Iraq. Between January 2013 and December 2016, 64 children with bladder stones were included in this prospective randomized study, after ethical committee approval and written consent from the children’s parents or caregivers were obtained. Patients were assigned randomly by computer software to two groups treated with either pneumatic cystolithotripsy or laser lithotripsy. A 9 Fr. semirigid ureteroscope was used to pass the lithotripter through and fragment the stone. A catheter of 8–12 Fr. was then introduced and kept in place
