Synthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Activities of Mixed Ligand Complexes of Symmetrical Schiff Base and 8-Hydroxyquinoline with Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II)
...Show More Authors

The current work reports a new Schiff base [N1-benzylidenebenezene-1,2-diamine(L) = C20H16N2] has been synthesized from benzaldehyde (C6H5CHO) and O- aminoaniline (O-C6H4(NH2)2. Metal mixed ligand complexes of the Schiff base were prepared from chloride salts of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) in ethanol and 8-hydroxyquinoline(8HQ)(C9H7NO) containing sodium hydroxide. All the complexes were characterized on the basis of their; FT-IR and U.V spectra, melting point, molar conductance, and determination of the percentage of the metal in the complexes by flame (AAS). In the all complexes, (8HQ) behaves as a bidentate ligand as primary ligand through –-OH phenolic group and –N groups of pyridine group. Also, the prepared ligand (L) was bidentate in all complexes coordinating through two nitrogen atoms as a secondary ligand. Mixed ligand complexes of bivalent ions of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) of the according to the formula [M(L)( Q)2] in 1:1:2 of molar ratio. The suggest geometry of the complexes appears to be octahedral. The synthesis complexes were tested in vitro for antibacterial activity of ligands and metal complexes to the pathogenic bacteria activity against bacteria (gram +ve) and (gram -ve) has been studied.

Synthesis and electrical properties of conductive polyaniline/ SWCNT nanocomposites
...Show More Authors

The synthesis of conducting polyaniline (PANI) nanocomposites containing various concentrations of functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes (f-SWCNT) were synthesized by in situ polymerization of aniline monomer. The morphological and electrical properties of pure PANI and PANI/SWCNT nanocomposites were examined by using Fourier transform- infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) respectively. The FTIR shows the aniline monomers were polymerized on the surface of SWCNTs, depending on the -* electron interaction between aniline monomers and SWCNTs. AFM analysis showed increasing in the roughness with increasing SWCNT content. The AC, DC electrical conductivities of pure PANI and PANI/SWCNT nanocomposite h

Preparation of Chalcones and their Applications in Heterocycles Synthesis
...Show More Authors

Some new heterocyclic compounds containing, cyclohexenone, indazole, isoxazoline, pyrmidine and pyrazoline ring system were prepared from chalcones (1a,b). The starting chalcones (1a,b) were obtained by a base catalyzed condensation of appropriately substituted benzaldehydes and 2-acetylbenzofuran. The reaction of the prepared chalcones with ethylacetoacetate/hydrazine hydrate, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, urea, thiourea, hydrazine hydrate, phenyl hydrazine or hydrazide derivatives gave the mentioned heterocycles. All synthesized compounds have been characterized by physical and spectral methods.

Synthesis and antimicrobial evaluation of new 1,3,4 - Thiadizole Derivatives
...Show More Authors

The amino thiadiazole [I] on treatment with aromatic aldehydes yielded Schiff bases [IIa-c], which cyclized to thiazolidinone [IIIa-c] derivatives by reaction with thioglycolic acid. Reaction of carbon disulfide and methyl iodide with [I] gavedithiomethyl [IV] which on treatment with o-phenylenediamine gave the condensed N-Imidazolythiadiazolylamine [V], However, reaction of [I] with phenylisocyanate and phenylisothiocyanate afforded the carbamideand carbothiamide derivatives [VI. VII] ac. The structure of these compounds was characterized from their melting point, FTIR spectroscopy and elementalanalysis

Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Nitrogen-Containing Anthraquinone Derivatives
...Show More Authors

New substituted anthraquinones with amino derivations fragments were synthesized through the substitution of bromine atom by different amines using the Ullmann coupling reaction. Obtained compounds based on anthraquinone used for experimental antimicrobial studies. The structure of the synthesized compounds was confirmed by LC-MS and 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy. Studies on planktonic microorganisms have shown that the first synthesized anthraquinone derivatives have an inhibitory effect against bacteria and fungi. The triazene 1-(3-(benzoic acid(triaz-1-en-1-ol(-4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl(-9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydroanthracene -2-sulfonic acid, have wide spectrum of activity, growth retardation zones against gram-positive micro

Effect of phosphate ester addition on transverse strength and hardness of heat cured acrylic denture base material
...Show More Authors

Background: acrylic resin denture base consider a common denture base material for its acceptable cost, aesthetic and easy processing but still has disadvantages including easy of fracture and low impact strength. Material and method: The experimental group was prepared by addition of 15% phosphoric acid 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate ester (PA2HEME) with polymethyl methacrylate monomer; the experimental groups was compared with the control one. The specimens were prepared according to ADA specification No. 12 with dimension 65 mm x 10 mm x2.5 mm (length x width x thickness respectively). The prepared specimens were tested by three-point flexural strength utilizing Instron Universal Testing Machine (WDW, Layree Technology Co.), Shore D hard

Background: The aim of this study was for estimation and comparism of masticatory efficiency in patient wearing heat cured acrylic and flexible base partial denture, finding out the role of peanuts and carrots on the measurement of chewing efficiency, and to find out whether the types of P.D. (being single or two opposing each other) has any effect on the masticatory performance. Materials and methods: Twenty partially edentulous patients were selected. Five of these patients were selected having Kennedy class I with no modification against natural dentition, other 5patients having Cl.I against Cl.I . The other 5 patients having Cl.III against natural dentition and the last 5 patients were with Cl.III against Cl.III. several ways were used

Background: The elimination of the microorganisms from the root canal systems, an important step for the successful root canal treatment. This study was conducted to evaluate the antibacterial effectiveness of the photoactivated disinfection by using the toluidine blue O and a low- energy light emitting diode (LED) lamp . Materials and method: Sixty single rooted extracted teeth were decoronated, instrumented, irrigated, sealed at the apex and contaminated with endodontic anaerobic bacteria for 7 days to form biofilms in prepared root canals. Group I. Twelve teeth were medicated by photosensitizer (toluidine blue O) solution activated by diode lamp (FotoSan; CMS Dental, Copenhagen, Denmark).Group II. Endoglucanase produced from Aspergillus flavus was purified by several steps including precipitation with 25 % ammonium sulphate followed by Ion –exchange chromatography, the obtained specific activity was 377.35 U/ mg protein, with a yield of 51.32 % .This step was followed by gel filtration chromatography (Sepharose -6B), when a value of specific activity was 400 U/ mg protein, with a yield of 48 %. Certain properties of this purified enzyme were investigated, the optimum pH of activity was 7 and the pH of its stability was 4.5, while the temperature stability was 40 °C for 60 min. The enzyme retained 100% of its original activity after incubation at 40 °C for 60 min; the optimum temperature for enzyme activity was 40 °C.
