Effect of aqueous extracts of the sprouted seeds on the quantitative and qualitative yield of the coral lettuce cultured under the modified nutrient solution film NFT system
...Show More Authors

The study was conducted at the fields of the Dept. of Horticulture and Garden Engineering, College of the Agricultural Engineering Sciences, Jadriyah in the fall season of 2020-2021 aiming to culture the coral lettuce with green and red leaves under the hydroponics system using the modified nutrient solution film NFT and study the effect of aqueous extracts of alfalfa and berseem sprouted seeds on the quantitative and qualitative yield of the lettuce crop. The research was conducted as an experiment of split plots within the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) of three replicates. The seedlings of the green coral lettuce, Locarno RZ, and red coral lettuce, Locarno RZ, symbolized by A and B respectively, were transferred to the culture system on 1/10/2020. Lettuce hybrids were regarded as the less important factor (main plot). The plants were sprayed with aqueous extracts of the alfalfa sprouted seeds at the two concentrations of 5 and 10%, symbolized by T1 and T2, and with aqueous extracts of the berseem sprouted seeds at the two concentrations of 5 and 10%, symbolized by T3 and T4, respectively, in addition to the control treatment (spraying with distilled water only), symbolized by T0. They were sprayed to full wetness three times at an interval of 10 days. This was regarded as the most important factor (subplot). Each experimental unit contained 10 plants. Results showed significant superiority of the treatment AT2 in the leaf chlorophyll content, number of leaves, leaf area and dry weight of vegetative growth (80.00 mg.100g fresh weight-1, 37.00 leaf.plant-1, 144.05 dcm2.plant-1, 10.97 g.plant-1 respectively) compared to the lowest value of the treatment BT0 (60.56 mg.100g fresh weight-1, 19.00 leaf.plant-1, 63.32 dcm2.plant-1 and 5.65g.plant-1 respectively). The same treatment (AT2) was superior in the highest root dry weight, and plant yield amounted to 1.92 and 364.35g.plant-1, respectively compared to the lowest values at the treatment AT0, recording 0.75 and 219.92g.plant -1 respectively. The interaction treatments' effect was insignificant on the content of β-carotene and VC in the leaves. We concluded that it is possible to culture the coral lettuce hydroponically and increase its productivity through spraying with the aqueous extracts of the alfalfa sprouted seeds at the concentration of 5%, which did not record a significant difference in the production from the treatment of spraying with aqueous extracts of the alfalfa sprouted seeds at 10%. STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF CHITOSAN EXTRACTED FROM THE MUSHROOM ON THE EXPERIMENTALLY INDUCED HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN MALE RABBITS: STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF CHITOSAN EXTRACTED FROM THE MUSHROOM ON THE EXPERIMENTALLY INDUCED HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN MALE RABBITS
...Show More Authors

The present study aimed to identify the therapeutic evaluation of chitosan extracted from the fungus cushroom and pure chitosan on glucose and lipid profile in the blood of 35 male rabbits with hyperlipidemia induced experimentally by cholesterol. The tests included estimation of glucose levels, total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoproteins, low-density lipoproteins, and very low-density lipoproteins. hyperlipidemia was induced in the male rabbits used in the study which was administered orally with cholesterol 150mg/kg body weight for a week. rabbits were divided into seven groups: control, cholesterol, pure chitosan, mushroom chitosan, cholesterol and pure chitosan, cholesterol and mushroom chitosan and cholestero

Improvement of the Water Use Efficiency and Yield of Eggplant by Using Subsurface Water Retention Technology
...Show More Authors

Sustainable crop production in a coarse soil texture is challenging due to high water permeability and low soil water holding capacity. In this paper, subsurface water retention technology (SWRT) through impermeable polyethylene membranes was placed at depth 35 cm below ground surface and within the root zone to evaluate and compare the impact of these membranes and control treatment (without using the membranes) on yield and water use efficiency of eggplant inside the greenhouse. The study was conducted in Al-Fahamah Township, Baghdad, Iraq during spring growing season 2017. Results demonstrated the yield and water use efficiencies were 3.483 kg/m2 and 5.653 kg/m3, respectively for SWRT treatment p

The Effect of Strategic Information System in Global Marketing Channel: A Case Study
...Show More Authors

The research dealt with the issue of strategic information systems and its impact on the global marketing channel. As the research aims to know the strategic information systems used in the cement company. Which support the senior management in supporting decisions taken in the process of global orientation and moving to foreign markets by choosing the marketing channel that will suit the company. Product and competition with it. With other companies' products. The problem of the study focused on how to move to global markets, and any marketing channel that can be followed to move the cement product globally, what are the strategic information systems used in the company and how will it contribute to supporting senior management dec

Adsorption of Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride from Aqueous Solution by Iraqi Porcelinaite Adsorbent
...Show More Authors

Pharmaceuticals are widely distributed in different applications and also released into the environment. Adsorption of Ciprofloxacin HCl (CIPH) on Porcelinaite was studied at ambient conditions. The adsorption isotherms can be well described using the Freundlich and Temkin equations. The pH of the solution influences significantly the adsorption capacity of Porcelinaite, the adsorption of CIPH increased from the initial pH 1.3 and then decreased over the pH rang of 3.8-9. The adsorption is sensitive to the change in ionic Strength, which indicate that electrostatic attraction is a significant mechanism for sorption process. The enthalpy change (ΔH) for the adsorption of CIPH onto Porcelinaite signifies an endothermic adsorption. The ΔG va

Molecular Interaction in Aqueous Solution of Butanol Isomers at 298.15 K
...Show More Authors

Viscosity (η) of solutions of 1-butanol, sec-butanol, isobutanol and tert-butanol were investigated in aqueous solution structures of ranged composition from 0.55 to 1 mol.dm-3 at 298.15 K. The data of (η/η˳) were evaluated based on reduced Jone - Dole equation; η/η˳ =BC+1. In the term of B value, the consequences based on solute-solvent interaction in aqueous solutions of alcohols were deliberated. The outcomes of this paper discloses that alcohols act as structure producers in the water. Additionally, it has shown that solute-solvent with interacting activity of identical magnitude is in water-alcohol system
