Citric Acid Production: Raw Material, Microbial Production, Fermentation Strategy and Global Market: Critical Review

Citric acid is an essential ingredient for the manufacture of (12) key industrial chemicals. Citric acid use is increasing steadily with a high annual growth rate as a result of the development of ever more sophisticated applications. Citric acid is widely utilized in the food and pharmaceutical industries due to its low toxicity when compared to other acidulous. Other uses for citric acid can be found in cleaning supplies and detergents. Based on information from a review of the literature, Citric acid production substrates and methods for surface fermentation, submerged fermentation, solid-state fermentation, and international market expansion are all covered in the current review study. Finally, there is still much to learn about the circumstances of the production of citric acid from raw materials, microorganisms, and fermentation techniques to achieve the best production in terms of cost and quality.

Production of antibacterial agent from Streptomyces griseus by using Semi Solid Fermentation

Palm dates as a source for isolation of Aspergillus niger to produce citric acid by submerged fermentation; kinetics study
Abstract<p>The study discussed here deals with the isolation of Aspergillus niger from palm dates, the formal and the most famous fruit in Iraq, to test and qualify this fungus isolate for its ability to produce citric acid. Submerged fermentation technique was used in the fermentation process. A.niger isolated from “Zahdi” Palme dates was used in the study of the fermentation kinetics to get the production efficiency of citric acid. Optimum conditions for Invertase production from Saccharomyces cere-visiae using solid state fermentation

Three Saccharomyces cerevisiae isolates from different sources (China, Turkey and Egypt) were screened by culturing on solid state fermentation to select the most efficient isolate for invertase production. S. cerevisiae from China was high specific activity 34.7 U/mg. The optimum conditions for enzyme production from this isolate were determined by using a medium composed of wheat bran moisten with 1:0.5 (v:w) corn steep liquor as nitrogen source at initial pH 5.0 for 5 days at 30OC.

Determination of optimum conditions for xylanase production by Aspergillus niger using solid state fermentation

Aspergillus niger is one of the most important filamentous fungi that used in the fermentation industry. Aspergillus niger isolate was cultured on potato-dextrose agar (PDA) for activation, and the optimum conditions for xylanase production from this local isolate were studied by solid state fermentation, using a medium composed of wheat bran moisten with corn steep liquor at ratio 1:0.5 (v:w) at initial pH 5.5, inoc-ulated with 1.6 × 106 spores/ml, and incubated at 30ᵒC for 5 days.

Optimum conditions for fibrinolytic enzyme (Nattokinase) production by Bacillus sp. B24 using solid state fermentation

The present study was aimed to screen the ability of local isolates of Bacillus spp. (56 isolates) for nattokinase production using solid state fermentation, then optimize the nutritional conditions for enzyme production. The isolates were subjected to the primary and secondary screening process to select the Bacillus isolate which give the highest production of enzyme. It was found that Bacillus sp. B24 had the highest productivity of the enzyme (25.58U/mg protein). The optimum conditions for nattokinase production were performed by the solid state fermentation and found that the wheat bran was the best medium at initial moisture ratio 1.0:1.0 (w/v) using distilled water as moisturizing solution with initial pH of 7.0 after inoculation

Production of Lactic Acid by lactobacilli using Legume Flours

       Due to their high nutritional value, richness in carbohydrates and good source of protein, legumes are considered essential for human diet. Legumes flours were used as fermentable material for lactic acid production. Hence, previously isolated lactobacilli strains were used in this study. The strains showed strong microbial growth and their survival in glucose-containing MRS medium and were described using a modified Gompertz equation. Lactobacilli exhibited the shortest latency phase in MRS-glucose medium. While the highest lactic acid produced was 15.40g/l by Lpb. pentosus U1 isolate after 48hours. Optimum Condition of Pullulanase Production by Liquid State and Solid State Fermentation (SSF) Method from Bacillus Licheniforms (BS18)
