Adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) Ions from Aqueous Solution by Activated Carbon
...Show More Authors

Heavy metal consider as major environmental pollutants. Many of industrial wastewater effluents contain a wide range of these heavy metals. The adsorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ metal ions from aqueous solution by activated carbon was studied. The results showed that maximum adsorption capacity occurred at 486.9×10-3 mg/kg for Pb2+ ion and 548.8×10-3 mg/kg for Cd2+ ion. The adsorption in a mixture of the metal ions had a balancing effect on the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon. The adsorption capacity of each metal ion was affected by the presence of other metal ions rather than its presence individually. The study showed the presence of other heavy metals attribute to the reduction in the activated carbon capacity, and the adsorption process was found to obeys the Freundlich isotherm for both ions.

Synthesis, Characterization and Gas Sensor Application of New Composite Based on MWCNTs:CoPc:Metal Oxide
...Show More Authors

The synthesis of new substituted cobalt Phthalocyanine (CoPc) was carried out using starting materials Naphthalene-1,4,5, tetracarbonic acid dianhydride (NDI) employing dry process method. Metal oxides (MO) alloy of (60%Ni3O4 40%-Co3O4 ) have been functionalized with multiwall carbon nanotubes (F-MWCNTs) to produce (F-MWCNTs/MO) nanocomposite (E2) and mixed with  CoPc to yield (F-MWCNT/CoPc/MO) (E3). These composites were investigated using different analytical and spectrophotometric methods such as 1H-NMR (0-18 ppm), FTIR spectroscopy in the range of (400-4000cm-1), powder X-rays diffraction (PXRD, 2θ o = 10-80), Raman spectroscopy (0-4000 cm-1), and UV-Visib

SYNTHESIS, Spectroscopic Characterization and Evaluation (Antibacterial & (GOT, G pT) Enzyme )Activity of Mixed Ligand Complexes of M(II) with Amino Acid (L-Asparagine) and Schiff Bases Derived from (Sulfamethoxazo Drug with 2,4Dimethoxybenzaldehyde)
...Show More Authors

The research includes the synthesis and identification of the mixed ligands complexes of M 2 Ions in general composition ,[M(Leu) 2 (SMX)] Where L leucine (C 6 H 13 NO 2 )symbolized (LeuH) as a primary ligand and Sulfamethoxazole C 10 H 11 N 3 O 3 S) symbolized (SMX)) as a secondary ligand . The ligands and the metal chlorides were brought in to reaction at room temperature in(v/v) ethanol /water as solvent containing NaOH. The reaction required the following [(metal: 2(Na Leu --): (SMX )] molar ratios with M(II) ions, Were M (  Mn ( II),Co (II),Ni(II),Cu( II),Zn (II),Cd(II)and Hg( The UV Vis and magnetic moment data revealed an octahedral geometry around M(II), The conductivity data show a non electrolytic nature of the complexes . Effect of aqueous extract from Marjoram against Salmonella and cholera bacteria
...Show More Authors

Five different bacterial isolates [ Vibrio cholera (Ogawa) , Vibrio cholera (Inaba) , Salmonella typhi , Salmonella paratyphi and ? Salmonella typhimurium ] were obtained from the Central Health Laboratory . Both sensitivity tests (MIC , MBC and wells method ) against these bacteria were performed by using the aqueous of leaves extract of Marjoram plant. The results cleared that the values of MIC for Vibrio cholera serotypes Ogawa and Inaba were 100 mg/ml , while the value of MBC was 200 mg/ml. The value of the Inhibition zone at 100 mg /ml concentration for both Ogawa and Inaba were 13 mm and 9 mm respectively. Our results showed that the three types of Salmonella didn’t show any inhibition zone at 200 mg/ml .

Preparation, characterization and study of biological activity and laser effect on the new Cu(II) complexes containing mixed benziloxime and furfuraldehydeazine ligands
...Show More Authors

Abstract: New copper(II) complexes with mixed ligand benziloxime (BOxH) and furfural-dehydeazine (FA) using classical (with and without solvent) and microwave heating methods have been prepared. The resulting complexes have been characterized using physico-chemical techniques. The study suggested that the ligands formed neutral complexes had general formulas [Cu(FA)(BOXH)(Ac)2] and [Cu(FA)(BOX)(OH)] in neutral (or acidic) and basic medium, respectively. Accordingly, hexa-coordinated mono-nuclear complexes have been investigated by this study and having distorted octahedral geometry. The effect of laser have been studied on solid ligands and solid complexes, no effect have been observed on most compounds through the results of melting poin

In Growing Toenail Treatment using Carbon Dioxide Laser
...Show More Authors

An ingrowing toenail is a common problem affecting mainly adolescents and young adults, with a male predominance of 3:1. The disorder generally occurs in big toes. It is painful and often chronic and it affects work and social activities. Most patients initially complain of pain and later discharge, infection and difficulty in walking occur. The Objectives: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of (10600nm) CO2 laser in the treatment of ingrowing toe nail. Patients, Materials & Methods: This study was done in laser medicine research clinics from July 2013 to the end of December 2013; 10 patients including 7(70%) males and 3 (30%) females with age ranging from 18 years to 70 years with mean age of 44 years o

Frankincense Extract as Eco-Friendly Corrosion Inhibitor for Carbon Steel in 1M HCl Solution
...Show More Authors

Steel corrosion in acidic environments is a critical industrial challenge, necessitating effective yet eco-friendly inhibitors. This study aims to address this problem by introducing a novel, green alternative: frankincense extract (FE). The distinctive contribution of this work lies in the comprehensive investigation of FE natural, sustainable, and economically viable resin as an effective corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in 1 M HCl. The research employs an integrated methodology, including electrochemical techniques (potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)), adsorption isotherm modeling, surface analysis (FT-IR and FESEM/EDX), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Carbon Nanotubes: Synthesis via Flame Fragment Deposition (FFD) Method from Liquefied Petroleum Gas
...Show More Authors

The current study uses the flame fragment deposition (FFD) method to synthesize carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from Iraqi liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is used as a carbon source. To carry out the synthesis steps, a homemade reactor was used. To eliminate amorphous impurities, the CNTs were sonicated in a 30 percent hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution at ambient temperature. To remove the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) generated during LPG combustion, sonication in an acetone bath is used. The produced products were investigated and compared with standard Multi-walled carbon nanotube MWCNTs (95%), Sigma, Aldrich, using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), Raman spectroscopy, scanning el
