Effect of Stiffeners on Shear Lag in Steel Box Girders

This paper studies the effects of stiffeners on shear lag in steel box girders with stiffened flanges. A three-dimensional linear finite element analysis using STAAD.Pro V8i program has been employed to evaluate and determine the actual top flange stress distribution and effective width in steel box girders. The steel plates of the flanges and webs have been modeled by four-node isoparametric shell elements, while the stiffeners have been modeled as beam elements. Different numbers (4, 8, and 15) for the steel stiffeners have been used in this study to establish their effects on the shear lag and longitudinal stresses in the flange. Using stiffeners reduced the magnitude of the top flange longitudinal stresses about 40%, but didn’t affect the shear lag.

been studied. The isotherm equilibrium data were well fitted by Freundlich and
Langmuir isotherm models. The adsorption capacity of chromium (III) that was
observed by activated charcoal , attapulgite and date palm leaflet powder (pinnae)
increased with the rise of temperature when the concentrations of Cr (III) were 600,

Survey of Some Parasitic Worms on Three Fish Species from Euphrates River at Al- Haklania District, Al-Anbar Province

Effects of sulpher foam and mycorrhizal fungi on Eggplant infested with Nematode(Meloidogyne javanica) at seed or seedling stage

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and sulphur foam added either at direct seeding or at transplanting decreased the effects of nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) on eggplant growth, and improved plant health. Experiments were conducted to study the possible interactions between the Mycorrhizal fungi (Glomus mossae and Gigaspora spp.) and sulphur foam to control M. javanica on eggplant at seed or seedling stage. Experiment at seed stage treated with Mycorrhiza or sulphur foam alone or together stimulated the growth and reduced Nematode infestation significantly. Study the expression level of beta 2 microglobulin gene on hepatitis C patients before and after treatment with interferon

This study has been carried out to evaluate the expression level of beta 2 microglobulin gene on patients infected by hepatitis C virus before and after treatment with interferon. The study included 117 hepatitis C patients comprising as 63 pre-treated patients, the range of age was between 20-65 year with a mean age of 48.12 ± 16.1 and 54 post-treated patients with age range was between 23-63 year with the mean of 46.1 ± 18.1. Also it was found that more than half of patients were located within third and fourth decade i.e. 30-49 year, with a percentage of 52.4% and 55.6 % for pre-treatment and post-treatment patients respectively. The samples were then subjected to Nano technique under hydrolic pressure 8 ton/cm2. samples have been annealed in (850 C0) for 72 hours. The results show a best value at x, y=0.3 ratio of Ag, Ba. Electrical resistivity at x, y= 0.3 of Ag, Ba are obtained when the best value of Tc= 141 K.
