The relationship of using the social networking site Facebook to the accumulation of social capital: (Survey study for a sample of students from the University of Algiers 3)

The subject of social capital is of great importance, as it provides an analytical framework for researchers interested in understanding the impact of the Internet on many dimensions of human and social life. And because social networking sites have infiltrated societies and produced new variables at the level of human and social communication, this study came to examine the relationship between the use of the social networking site Facebook and the accumulation of social capital among a sample of University of Algeria 3 students, by researching the variables of intensity of use and patterns of use as independent variables and their relationship to social capital. The results of the field study revealed a strong relationship between the intensity of Facebook use and social capital, the strongest of which was bridging capital. In addition, there is a strong relationship between active use and the accumulation of social capital. So the relationship between the use of Facebook and social capital varies according to the intensity of use of the site and patterns of use.

Comparison of corneal epithelial thickness profile in dry eye patients, keratoconus suspect, and healthy eyes

Purpose:

To compare the corneal epithelial thickness profile in patients with dry eyes and keratoconus suspect with normal healthy eyes.

Methods:

The study involved 120 eyes with an age range from 19 to 30 years. Forty eyes had normal corneal topography and no dry eyes. Forty eyes had dry eyes but had normal corneal topography. The last 40 eyes were keratoconus suspect and had no symptoms or signs of dry eyes.

Results:

Optical and structural properties of synthesized ZnO nanorods through chemical bath deposition on various substrates

Chemical bath deposition was used to synthesize ZnO nanorods (NRs) on glass and fluorine_doped tin oxide (FTO) substrates. X-ray diffraction was performed to examine the crystallinity of ZnO nanorod. Results showed that ZnO NRs had a wurtzite crystal structure. Field emission scanning electron microscopy images showed that glass sample had rod-like structure distribution with (50 nm) diameter and average length of approximately (700 nm), whereas the FTO-coated glass sample had 25 nm diameter and average length of approximately 950 nm. Quadrupole moments of exotic carbon isotopes (9C, 11C, 17C and 19C) including core polarization effect

Quadrupole Q moments and effective charges are calculated for 9C, 11C, 17C and 19C exotic nuclei using shell model calculations. Excitations out of major shell space are taken into account through a microscopic theory which are called core-polarization effects. The simple harmonic oscillator potential is used to generate the single particle matrix elements of 9,11,17,19C. The present calculations with core-polarization effects reproduced the experimental and theoretical data very well.
