Semantic Confusion of the Term in Cultural Pages for Students of College of Arts (University of Baghdad)
...Show More Authors

The research is exposed to an important issue, related to communication obstacles that prevent the media message contained in cultural topics published in local newspapers to reach the hands of the readers; or related to lack of awareness of aspects of that media message, Because it contains immersed vocabulary in elitism where, sometime, the average reader of the newspaper of medium-sized educated, and even the academic reader are unable to decode it and understand its significance.

After determining the problem of the study and the tools that the researcher wants to use to accomplish his research, a sample of students of college of Arts at the University of Baghdad was selected. As they are closest to the specialization is concerned. This choice came to the assumption of the researcher that the problem extends beyond the general readers to affect those close to the specialization of university students at the departments of literature.

The researcher reached a number of results, which is that the discourse adopted in the cultural pages, is an elitist discourse does not fit the level of the general readers. Readers, as well, suffer from the frequent use of editors of translated terms, as well as blurry in the brainstorming, in addition to the lack of suspense in the drafting the topics, which made the readers away from follow-up cultural pages.

The study also revealed a decline in readers’ interest in cultural topics, which had a low percentage in the penultimate sequence of the bottom of the list of priorities for their favorite pages in the newspapers they read.

The researcher developed a number of proposals to address the phenomenon in question, which can be summarized as follows:

  1. The need to include cultural topics that contain translated terms for some illuminations that clarify the meaning of the term to the reader and help him to understand and absorb the subject.
  2. Avoiding semantic overlap and lack of understanding of the meaning of the term, the researcher recommends not to use complex terms; and replace them with understandable vocabulary.
  3. The need to avoid editors to the method of exaggeration in reviewing the linguistic abilities; and adopt an interesting method in presenting the cultural material.
  4. Using annual coupons to see the views of readers and their suggestions in order to identify the obstacles faced by them in understanding the topics.

Advanced GIS-based Multi-Function Support System for Identifying the Best Route
...Show More Authors

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are obtaining a significant role in handling strategic applications in which data are organized as records of multiple layers in a database. Furthermore, GIS provide multi-functions like data collection, analysis, and presentation. Geographic information systems have assured their competence in diverse fields of study via handling various problems for numerous applications. However, handling a large volume of data in the GIS remains an important issue. The biggest obstacle is designing a spatial decision-making framework focused on GIS that manages a broad range of specific data to achieve the right performance. It is very useful to support decision-makers by providing GIS-based decision support syste

Experimental Investigation of the Mechanical and Structural Properties of a Functionally Graded Material by Adding Alumina Nanoparticles Using A Centrifugal Technique
...Show More Authors

In this work, functionally graded materials were synthesized by centrifugal technique at different
volume fractions 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2% Vf with a rotation speed of 1200 rpm and a constant rotation time, T
= 6 min . The mechanical properties were characterized to study the graded and non-graded nanocomposites
and the pure epoxy material. The mechanical tests showed that graded and non-graded added alumina
(Al2O3) nanoparticles enhanced the effect more than pure epoxy. The maximum difference in impact strength
occurred at (FGM), which was loaded from the rich side of the nano-alumina where the maximum value was
at 1% Vf by 133.33% of the sample epoxy side. The flexural strength and Young modulus of the fu

Satire is genre of the literary arts that has always been the source of human interest. Because  it is difficult to accept direct criticism, Satire appears as a literary tool in which vices, follies, abuses and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. A satirical critic usually employs irony to attain this goal. Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often profitable social criticism, using wit to draw at

The current study aimed to investigate the viability of biofilm formation klebsilla pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus. 440 urine samples were collected from patients suffering from urinary tract infection (UTI) from those who were admitted and visitors to Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital, Al-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital, Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital for women and children and , Teaching Laboratories in the Medical City for both genders for a period extended from 5 July, 2017 to 10 October, 2017. Samples were diagnosed by culturing them on a selective media and by biochemical testes , also, diagnosis was ensured by using VITEK-2 compact system. Results showed that K.pneumoniae isolation ratio was 17.1%(68) and S.aureus ratio was 13.1%(52). Thei

Qualitative Researches in Media and Communication Sciences: Theoretical Highlights and Applied Pathways
...Show More Authors

The debate on the methodology of media and communication research is no longer subject to the logic of the contradiction between the quantitative and the qualitative approach, nor the logic of the comparison between them. The nature of the topics presented for research, the problems they raise, the goals to be achieved from the research, and the epistemological positioning of researchers are among the critical factors that dictate the appropriate approach or methodological approaches to conduct their research. This positioning means the implicit philosophical principles upon which any researcher relies and which determine the path he/ she takes to produce scientifically approved knowledge. The method of the researcher's access to the phe

Twitter Location-Based Data: Evaluating the Methods of Data Collection Provided by Twitter Api
...Show More Authors

Twitter data analysis is an emerging field of research that utilizes data collected from Twitter to address many issues such as disaster response, sentiment analysis, and demographic studies. The success of data analysis relies on collecting accurate and representative data of the studied group or phenomena to get the best results. Various twitter analysis applications rely on collecting the locations of the users sending the tweets, but this information is not always available. There are several attempts at estimating location based aspects of a tweet. However, there is a lack of attempts on investigating the data collection methods that are focused on location. In this paper, we investigate the two methods for obtaining location-based dat
