The role of witchery and astrology programs in spreading illusion and myth

« The emergence of satellite channels has led to fundamental changes in the supposed role of television, making it a center of culture and an important tributary to social upbringing and influencing the attitudes and values of individuals and in making public opinion regarding various issues, some television programs target ordinary people at home by virtue of the nature of their subjects, where there is a large audience of viewers, who consume and absorb what is offered to them from the cultural production of those satellite channels that play with the aspirations of groups of society to find metaphysical or magic solutions to their social problems or psychological delusions. The media, through its various messages, contributes to bringing about changes in the public’s understanding and comprehension of different issues and then directing them to deal with them and realize their goals, and this effect can appear in behavior. Therefore, this research sought to determine the cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects by watching those channels that display programs of witchery and astrology under the guise of verses of the Qur’an or what was called the prophetic medicine of religious amulet (for good luck in Islam) or herbal medicine, the research also sought to find out the reasons that lead the Iraqi individual to follow these channels, which is more influential on the Iraqi public and the relationship of the demographic variables of the respondents in the subject of exposure to it and the extent of the results achieved from that. The researcher used the survey method that aims to collect data and information from those under the research, relying on a questionnaire form designed to be a main tool for data collection, and through a multi-stage sample of (384) from the city of Baghdad.

Assessment of the Risk Factors of Coronary Artery Diseases in Al-Nasiriyah City

Objective: to assess the risk factors of coronary artery disease patients.
Methodology: A non-probability (purposive) sample of (100) patients. The study population consisted of
a sample of adults from both genders whose ages were 30 years and more, and was newly diagnosed as
having CAD by coronary angiography in the cardiac catheterization unit of An Nasiriyah heart center.
Results: The result of the study showed that the most common modifiable risk factors were low HDL-C
levels (58%), smoking (53%), hypertension (46%), diabetes mellitus (34%), obesity (30%), high
triglycerides (19%), hypercholesterolemia (17%), and high LDLC (14%). All these factors were positively
and significantly associated with the development

Concentrations of selected elements in saliva among a group of adolescent girls in relation to severity of caries and selected salivary parameters

Background: Saliva is one of the most important etiological host factors in relation to dental caries. It affects the carious process by its organic and inorganic constituents; in addition to its physiological functions as (flow rate, pH and buffer capacity). The aims of this study were to determine the concentrations of major elements (calcium and phosphorus) and trace elements (ferrous iron, nickel, chromium and aluminum) in saliva among a group of adolescent girls, and to explore the relation of these elements, flow rate and pH with dental caries. Material & Methods: The study group consisted of 25 girls with an age of 13-15 years old. Dental caries was diagnosed by both clinical and radiographical examinations following the criteria of

Effect of Chronic Exposure of Cadmium Chloride in Drinking Water on Structural and Functional Aspects of Thyroid Gland in Mature Male Rabbits

The effect of chronic exposure to two different levels of cadmium chloride (CdCl2) 30 ppb and 40 ppb in drinking water for 12 weeks on thyroid function of mature male rabbits was studied. Eighteen mature male rabbits  were randomly divided into three groups (each of six ) , control group (group I ): were offered ordinary tap water , and treated groups (II and III ) were offered tap water containing 30ppb and 40 ppb respectively for 12 weeks .Serum concentration of  thyroxin (T4 ) and triiodothyronine (T3) were measured every six weeks ,as an index  of  thyroid function , further more ,  section of thyroid gland were prepared for histological studies. The results showed that  chronic exposure of male rabbits

Evaluating the Potentials of Individual Lending Instructions (in Housing Fund Law) to Support Housing Finance Policies in Iraq.

Iraqi economy has grown rapidly. Iraqi citizen, therefore, should be very much involved with the comprehensive development after his long patience. Such development should begin with him and his family to get the housing commodity, which is indeed not a cheap one.

In this regard, the Iraqi legislator drew attention to the necessity of issuing housing finan

Media Coverage of Yazidi Women in the Iraqi Press Analytical Study in Al-Mada Newspaper: غادة حسين العاملي

This research reveals the treatment mechanisms followed in the media for covering the topic of displacement and captivity of Yazidi in the Iraqi press, through studying all the publishing in one of the Iraqi newspapers concerning the research subject. The research problem is in the following questions:

  • What are the journalistic arts that are tackled by the newspaper concerning the subject of the Yazidi women?
  • What are the editing forms for the model of the press subjects that have been employed about the event and what are its sources?
  • What are the highlighting means used in presenting the subjects within the journalistic arts?
  • What are the i

Ab initio structural and vibrational properties of GaAs diamondoids and nanocrystals

Gallium arsenide diamondoids structural and vibrational properties are investigated using density functional theory at the PBE/6-31(d) level and basis including polarization functions. Variation of energy gap as these diamondoids increase in size is seen to follow confinement theory for diamondoids having nearly equiaxed dimensions. Density of energy states transforms from nearly single levels to band structure as we reach larger diamondoids. Bonds of surface hydrogen with As atoms are relatively localized and shorter than that bonded to Ga atoms. Ga-As bonds have a distribution range of values due to surface reconstruction and effect of bonding to hydrogen atoms. Experimental bulk Ga-As bond length (2.45 Å) is within this distribu

MODELING AND COMPARISON OF CLOSED-LOOP AND OPENLOOP ADAPTIVE OPTICS SYSTEMS

Astronomers have known since the invention of the telescope that atmospheric turbulence affects celestial images. So, in order to compensate for the atmospheric aberrations of the observed wavefront, an Adaptive Optics (AO) system has been introduced. The AO can be arranged into two systems: closedloop and open-loop systems. The aim of this paper is to model and compare the performance of both AO loop systems by using one of the most recent Adaptive Optics simulation tools, the Objected-Oriented Matlab Adaptive Optics (OOMAO). Then assess the performance of closed and open loop systems by their capabilities to compensate for wavefront aberrations and improve image quality, also their effect by the observed optical bands (near-infrared band

Synthesis and Characterization of Some Novel Oxazine, Thiazine and Pyrazol Derivatives

In this paper, some chalcone derivatives (C1, C2) were synthesized based on the reaction of equal amount of substituted acetophenone and substituted banzaldehyde in basic medium. Oxazine and thiazine derivatives were prepared from the reaction of chalcones (C1-C2) with urea and thiourea respectively in a basic medium. Pyrazole derivatives were prepared based on the reaction of chalcones with hydrazine mono hydrate or phenyl hydrazine in the presence of glacial acetic acid as a catalyst. The new synthesized compounds were identified using various physical techniques like1 H-NMR and FT-IR spectra.

Design and Construction of Ultraviolet and Incoming Solar Irradiance Sensing Device

In-situ measurements of ultraviolet (UV) and solar irradiance is very sparse in Nigeria because of cost; it is  estimated using meteorological parameters. In this work, a low-cost UV and pyranometer device, using locally sourced materials, was developed. The instrument consists of a UV sensor (ML8511), a photodiode (BPW34) housed in a carefully sealed vacuumed glass bulb, the UV and solar irradiance sensor amplifiers, a 16-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADS1115), Arduino mega 2560, liquid crystal display (LCD) and microSD card for data logging. The designed amplifier has an offset voltage of 0.8676 mV. The sensitivity of the irradiance device is 86.819 Wm-2/mV with a correcting factor of 27.77 Wm-2 and a
