The Impact of Means of Communication on Electoral Behavior and its Relationship to the Political Disparity of the Family (A Field Study of an Audience of the University of Baghdad’s Students)
...Show More Authors

Iraq has seen many changes at the social, economic and political levels. This led to cause many shifts in the structure of its society and imposed great challenges reflected in the behavior and awareness of that society in general and youth in particular.

Those changes made the Iraqi society undergoing the transformation of value and culture aspects formed a political awareness that caused cultural and political diversity within the family and society. A greater openness to the outside world caused by the communication revolution, as the world has witnessed during the past two decades, has helped in making that change. Iraq had its share of media and political openness, which were included after the US occupation in 2003. As a result, those changes left a significant impact on the electoral behavior of the family in the process of electoral participation.

The research focused on studying the impact of communication on the dissemination of political awareness and the promotion of political disparity in the family and its relationship to the electoral behavior of students as a result of the exposure to various political programs and topics through the programs they prefer to follow up as a received information for both genders.

The study goes further to study the match and the different visions among family members on participating in the political process; to examine the freedom of opinion between students and their families, and to discuss topics or political programs handled by means of different communication. My sample was drawn from the students of the University of Baghdad of Fourth-Year students of both branches: humanitarian and scientific.

The researcher concluded that the means of communication is of great importance in spreading political awareness through various programs and topics that included the Iraqi political case, and in enriching the means of communication with the abundant information for the family members. The means of communication have helped to create different visions and ideas among members of the same family and to create a state of political disparity among family members due to dialogues and discussions between students and their families.

The presence of the good educational level of the family has helped in stimulating, influencing and imparting a culture of dialogue; and added space of freedom of opinion and other’s opinions. The existence of the intersection, however, facilitated the choices of students and their families in voting. This considered as another indicator of the state of disparity and disagreement in the selection of political blocs, which was done in accordance with the bases and criteria preferred by students, including competence and scientific experience and then political experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND MALPRACTICES IN PEDIATRICS DIARRHEA MANAGEMENT BY IRAQI MOTHERS
...Show More Authors

Objectives: In developing countries like Iraq, diarrhea was responsible for 70% of deaths among pediatrics. This study was designed to determine Iraqi mothers’ knowledge and malpractices associated with diarrhea management in pediatrics. Methods: A cross-sectional pilot study was done on a convenient sample of mothers in Baghdad – Iraq. Data collection was done using a validated questionnaire specifically designed for this study.Result: Most participants preferred to consult physicians or pharmacists about pediatrics diarrhea management. Breastfeeding was stopped by 19% of participants, whereas 35% of mothers who depend on formulated milk discontinued it. Only 30% of participants use oral rehydration solution therapy always as a

Knowledge, Perception and Attitude Regarding Generic Medicines among Iraqi Physicians
...Show More Authors

Objectives: The study aim was to explore the knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes of Iraqi physicians regarding generic and locally manufactured medicines. Methods: A total of 124 physicians were involved in this cross -sectional study. The convenience sample was collected from five public hospitals in Baghdad. A self-administered questionnaire was distributed and collected in-person. Fisher's Exact Test was used to measure the association between physician years of experience, gender and categorical (perception and knowledge) variables. Results: Most respondent answers regarding the knowledge of generic medicines were incorrect. Only up to one-third of the participants knew that generic medicines are therapeutically eq

Simulation Physical and Chemical Blowing Agents for Polyurethane Foam Production
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Use of computer simulation to quantify the effectiveness of blowing agents can be an effective tool for optimizing formulations and for the adopting of new blowing agents. This paper focuses on a mass balance on blowing agent during foaming including the quantification of the amount that stays in the resin, the amount that ends up in the foam cells, and the pressure of the blowing agent in the foam cells. Experimental data is presented both in the sense of developing the simulation capabilities and the validating of simulation results.

Carvone Attenuates Irinotecan-Induced Intestinal Mucositis and Diarrhea in Mice
...Show More Authors

Intestinal mucositis is referring to inflammatory or ulcerative lesions of the oral or gastrointestinal tract; one of the main reasons is treatment with cancer chemotherapy. The prodrug Irinotecan is converted by carboxylesterase to the active metabolite SN-38, conjugated by UGT enzyme to SN-38G and then deconjugated by ?-glucoronidase produced by intestinal bacterial flora to produce SN-38. Irinotecan induces intestinal mucositis and diarrhea due to increased concentration of its active metabolite (SN-38).To evaluate the protective effect of carvone, I.P injection of (75mg/kg/day) of irinotecan for 4 days to induce intestinal mucositis, carvone administered to mice orally for 6 days starting from day 1. Results showed that carvone (50mg

Mesoporous SBA-15 Synthesis and Characterization Using Various Dispersing Agents
...Show More Authors

A successful synthesis of SBA-15 with semi-spherical morphology and suitable texture properties was achieved using hydrothermal technique. Sodium silicate, derived from silica sand from Iraq, was used as a silica precursor, and Pluronic p123 triblock copolymer was used as a template with a strong acid media (pH < 1). The effect of adding (1–3) g of either polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP -k30), or Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) dispersant agents on the texture properties of the synthesized SBA-15 was studied. The SBA-15 sample underwent various characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), nitrogen adsorption-desorption using Br
