The Reliance of the Public of Baghdad on News Broadcasts on Satellite Channels as a Source of Information
...Show More Authors

The importance of news broadcasts in society has increased after the domination of television over the mass media, especially after emerging the satellite channels, and spreading the satellite dishes among the public at large.

As well as the great role played by the modern technology in the transmission of news and events happening at once. Such role has contributed, significantly, in changing the concept and values of the news. The live broadcast of the events filmed is the news itself.

In the midst of the great transformations and circumstances that Iraq went through after 2003, which witnessed political and security instability, and the large increase in the number of media, especially satellite channels, in Iraq and in the world. These factors have contributed to increasing the area of influence of television in the lives of Iraqis through newsletters that made influence of television as a phenomenon that occupies the attention of the public for what produces of news and information on events and phenomena.

The problem of the research is that there is some sort of ambiguity, weakness or lack of clarity in the reliance of the public in Baghdad on the news as sources of information.

In light of the huge increase in the number of satellite channels at all levels (Iraq, Arab, and international), and in light of the fierce competition among those channels in presenting news services and news programs, especially news broadcasts, satellite channels endeavored to achieve a scoop as events, issues and crises following up; and to assure that those events, issues and crises will be seen, daily, by the viewers; and to increase the hours of broadcasting those services and programs, around the clock. All those factors contributed greatly to increasing the interest of the public in those news broadcasts in order to understand the meaning of events. Exposure to news has become one of the communication habits of the public, which they, often, practice daily. The public, moreover, may depend on the events, circumstances and crises experienced by the world around them in order to understand the environment that surrounds them.

The research problem is summarized by the following question:

To what extent can the public in Baghdad rely on the news broadcasts of satellite channels as a source of information?

The importance of this study lies in the study's attempt to monitor the reality of the Iraqi public's reliance, especially the audience of the city of Baghdad, as it represents all spectrums of the Iraqi people, on news broadcasts provided by satellite channels in general. Exposing to the news broadcasts became of the of the public communication habits, and daily rituals practiced by individuals in order to achieve an understanding to what is happening around them about many events and issues covered. The significance of the study can be seen in creating an important and effective database, especially for the Iraqi researcher.

As for the academic and research importance, the results of the research will be a starting point for the researchers in this regard, especially the research of the same concern; and the researches that follow in the field of media as a source of information. As the media library in Iraq lacks to such researches with some exceptions.

Place Identity in Defining Urban Space of Border Rivers in Historical City Centres
...Show More Authors

In the city, building space could transform to be as place, because architecture does not include only traditional values such as housing, human protection, stability, etc, but could carry other dimensions beyond the housing or building occupancy or develop urban design. Rivers had vision in motion as a way to show dynamic processes in its flowing slowly, which are simply measured in time and the life of citizens. The research consider the river path in traditional cities as Alley connecting the spaces of the city ... old Baghdad was characterized by this property and it is look like Venice in the past, while traditional European cities were able to preserve this property till now, and capable to take transformation of the city with deve

Spectrophotometric Determination of Clonazepam in Pure and Dosage forms using Charge Transfer Reaction
...Show More Authors

A rapid, sensitive and without extraction spectrophotometric method for determination of clonazepam (CLO) in pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms has been described. The proposed method was simply depended on charge transfer reaction between reduced CLO (n-donor) and metol (N-methyl-p-aminophenol sulfate) as a chromogenic reagent (π- acceptor). The reduced drug, with zinc and concentrated hydrochloric acid, produced a purple colored soluble charge-transfer complex with metol in the presence of sodium metaperiodate in neutral medium, which has been measured at λmax 532 nm. All the variables which affected the developed and the stability of the colored product such as concentration of reagent and oxidant, temperature and time of rea

Experimental Evaluation of PV Panel Efficiency Using Evaporative Cooling Integrated with Water Spraying
...Show More Authors

In this work, an inventive photovoltaic evaporative cooling (PV/EC) hybrid system was constructed and experimentally investigated. The PV/EC hybrid system has the prosperous advantage of producing electrical energy and cooling the PV panel besides providing cooled-humid air. Two cooling techniques were utilized: backside evaporative cooling (case #1) and combined backside evaporative cooling with a front-side water spray technique (case #2). The water spraying on the front side of the PV panel is intermittent to minimize water and power consumption depending on the PV panel temperature. In addition, two pad thicknesses of 5 cm and 10 cm were investigated at three different water flow rates of 1, 2, and 3 lpm. In Case #1,

Intelligent Congestion Control of 5G Traffic in SDN using Dual-Spike Neural Network
...Show More Authors

Software Defined Networking (SDN) with centralized control provides a global view and achieves efficient network resources management. However, using centralized controllers has several limitations related to scalability and performance, especially with the exponential growth of 5G communication. This paper proposes a novel traffic scheduling algorithm to avoid congestion in the control plane. The Packet-In messages received from different 5G devices are classified into two classes: critical and non-critical 5G communication by adopting Dual-Spike Neural Networks (DSNN) classifier and implementing it on a Virtualized Network Function (VNF). Dual spikes identify each class to increase the reliability of the classification

Identification of Pathogenic Fungi in Renal Transplant Patients by Conventional and Molecular Methods
...Show More Authors

Opportunistic fungal infections due to the immune- compromised status of renal transplant patients are related to high rates of morbidity and mortality regardless of their minor incidence. Delayed in identification of invasive fungal infections (IFIs), will lead to delayed treatment and results in high mortality in those populations. The study aimed to assess the frequency of invasive fungal infection in kidney transplant recipients by conventional and molecular methods. This study included 100 kidney transplant recipients (KTR) (75 males, and 25 females), collected from the Centre of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation in the Medical City of Baghdad. Blood samples were collected during the period from June 2018 to April 2019. Twent

Assessment of Malondialdehyde and Soluble α-Klotho Serum Levels in Iraqi Acromegaly Patients
...Show More Authors

Acromegaly has been associated with several metabolic health conditions that can increase risks of death and illness. These include heart disease, diabetes, and problems with how the body regulates insulin levels. Multiple studies have found that people living with acromegaly are two to four times more likely to pass away than others of the same age and sex in the general population. Research also suggests a link between acromegaly and higher levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the body. MDA is a byproduct formed during natural processes like prostaglandin and lipid peroxidation production that is able to damage genes and has been connected to cancer development. The transmembrane protein known as soluble a-Klotho (SAKL) is
