Effect of integrated nutrient management using pigeon manure, biofertilizer and boron on quantitative and qualitative traits of green onion (Allium fistulosum L.)
...Show More Authors

Despite the recognised importance of green onion as a nutritionally and medicinally valuable crop in Iraq, its production heavily depends on chemical fertilisers, which degrade soil fertility and environmental quality. Although organic manure, biofertilizers, and micronutrients such as boron individually improve soil health and crop performance, limited information is available on their integrated application under local agro-ecological conditions. In this regard, an experiment was conducted during the 2024-25 fall season at the fields of College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, Iraq to study the effects of integrated nutrients managements on growth, yield and quality of bunching onion (Allium fistulosum), under split plot within randomized completed blocks design (RCBD) with three replications by using three factors the first was pigeon manure as main plot factor at three levels (0, 5, 10 t/ha) mixed with field soil before planting. While the second was foliar spraying of liquid biofertilizer (EM AGRO) applied at (0, 1, 2 mL/L) and the third was boron at two levels (0, 50 mg/L) considered as sub-plot factors. The results revealed that the three-way interaction treatment of pigeon manure at a concentration of (10 t/ha liquid biofertilizer (EM AGRO) at a concentration of (2 mL/L), and foliar application of boron at a concentration of (50 mg/L) T2E2B1 significantly outperformed other treatments in plant height and leaf area, yielding (58.93 cm and 15.14 dm²) respectively. Furthermore, the treatment also outperformed in the qualitative indicators of onion bulbs with higher vitamin C, tannins, reduced DPPH, and total phenols, and yielding 16.90 mg/100g, 48.87 mg/100g, 0.49 mg/100g, and 42.67 mg/100g, respectively. In contrast, the treatment of pigeon manure at a concentration of (5 t/ha) and liquid biofertilizer (EM AGRO) at a concentration of (2 mL/L) was superior. The application of 50 mg/L boron (T1E2B1) with a boron spray at a concentration of 50 mg/L significantly resulted in a higher yield of 83.3 t/ha.

Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of Plumbagin in the Leaf and Root of Plumbago europaea Growing Naturally in Kurdistan by HPLC
...Show More Authors

Plumbago (Plumbaginaceae) is a genus of 10-20 species of flowering plants used in traditional Indian medicine, native to warm temperature to tropical regions of the world. The roots of Plumbago europaea, the Iraqi species of Plumbago, have been used for the treatment of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and dysmenorrhea. The main active constituents from dried powdered leaves and roots of Plumbago europaea were extracted by Soxhlet apparatus using ethyl acetate, the main active constituent was characterized by spectroscopic analysis (IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR)   as plumbagin. Quantitative and qualitative study of plumbagin in the roots and leaves extracts was carried out by HP

The Effect of Adding Phosphorus and Zinc Spraying on the Nutrient Content and Root Growth of Cabbage
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>This study was conducted at the Research Experimental Station of the College of Agricultural Engineering/University of Baghdad in the Al-Jadiriyah area during the autumn season of 2022. The study aimed to investigate the effect of phosphorus addition and zinc spraying on the nutrient content and root growth of the cabbage. The experiment included two factors: the first factor was phosphorus with four concentrations (P25%, P50%, P75%, and P100%) of the recommended complete fertilizer dose (135 kg P2O5 per hectare), and the second factor was zinc spraying with three concentrations (0, 30, and 60 mg.L-1) of zinc sulfate (ZnSO4). Abstract<p>This study was conducted at the Poultry Research Station, Animal Resources Research Department at the Agricultural Research Department / Ministry of Agriculture - Baghdad Abu Ghraib. To find the effect of adding different proportions of Bay Laurus powder on productive performance and some physiological characteristics of birds during the production stage as Eight Hundreds Female birds of quail were used at the age of 45 days, randomly deployed to 4 treatments with two replicates (100 birds / replicate ) each, and the bay laurel powder was added in the proportions 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% to the diets and for a period of 60 days divided into 4 periods of 15-day .The results indicated si</p> ... Evaluation of antibacterial effect of irrigant solutions (titanium tetra fluoride, green tea, sodium hypochlorite, normal saline) using real-time quantitative – polymerase chain reaction

Background: Removal of bacteria from the pulp system by instrumentation of an infected root canal, will be significantly reduced the number of bacteria, but it is well documented that instrumentation alone can-not clean and kill all bacteria found on the root canal walls. Antibacterial irrigants are needed to kill the remaining microorganisms. The aims of this study was to assess antibacterial effect of titanium tetrafluoride (TiF4) solution and brewing green tea against root canal bacteria and to compare with sodium hypochlorite and normal saline through microbiological and molecular studies. Materials and methods: Microbiological study was carried out to determine the concentration of titanium tetrafluoride and brewing green tea at which

In vitro tests have been carried out to find out the efficacy of watery extracts of garlic Allium sativum and hot pepper Capsicum spp. against the trophozoites of Entamoeba histolytica cultivated in liver infusion agar media at 37 c . The doses of ( 0.01, 0.05 ,0.1, 0.5, 1 ml )of garlic and hot pepper watery extracts were added to certain number of E. histolotica trophozoits for exposure time of 24 hrs., the mortality percentage of trophozoites treated with garlic extract were ( 14.82 %, 31.05% ,46.16% , 64.29% , 92.7%) respectively , these percentages were very close to that obtained from the treatment with the hot peper extract which were (17.86%, 32% , 44% ,66.67% ,100%) respectively . Generally these results showed that the ga
