Assessing Patient Preoperatively and Role in Decreasing Risks on Patients and Preventing Post-Operative Complications for Cholecystectomy
...Show More Authors

Background: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has many difficulties which include port Insertion, Dissectionof the Calot’s Triangle , Grasping of the Gallbladder , Wall thickness, Adhesion and extraction of theGallbladder. Aim of the Study: To predict how difficult cholecystectomy will be from assessing the patientpreoperatively which, in turn, help in decreasing the risks on the patients and preventing post-operativecomplications. Patients and Methods: A prospective study conducted in the department of General Surgeryat Al-Ramadi Teaching Hospital for the period of nine months from 15th of May 2018 till the 15th of February2019. It included 60 patients, all of them were undergone laparoscopic cholecystectomy for Gallstone. Patientswith common bile duct calculus, dilated common bile duct, current attack of acute cholecystitis, those withabsolute contraindications to laparoscopic cholecystectomy, The data were collected prospectively to predictthe significance of association with patients’ characteristics. The time of operation was calculated from thefirst port site incision until the last port closure. All the intra operative events were recorded. Conversionsto open cholecystectomy were done by median or subcostal laparotomy according to the surgeon’s decisionand each patient’s condition. Results: In this study, the highest proportion of operations was categorizedas easy (58.3%), 28.3% of operations were considered difficult and 13.3% of them were very difficult. Asignificant association (P < 0.05) between operation difficulty and all of the following characteristics: Aging, obesity, history of previous biliary hospitalization, thickened bladder wall, pericholecystic collection, andlarge stones. Conclusions: The difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy can be predicted preoperativelybased on number of factors, like: obesity, previous biliary admission, gall bladder wall thickness, ultrasoundfindings (stone size and pericholecystic fluid) and aging process, evaluating of such factors minimize thecomplications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and conversion to the open procedure.

The effect of TSLP, IgE and Eosinophil on Atopic Dermatitis Patients
...Show More Authors

Atopic dermatitis in another word Atopic Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that effecting all ages, described by lesions of eczematous and acute itch. As the objective of this study for determine the effect of variation in TSLP, IgE, and Eosinophil levels in patients with atopic dermatitis compared with a healthy control group. The level of TSLP was almost the same between the patients and the control group, and the reason was that most of the patients were treated with anti-allergic drugs. In this study, there is a significant (P = 0.004), serum level of TSLP in atopic dermatitis patient’s pre-treatment with immunotherapy (corticosteroids and antihistamines) is compared with atopic dermatitis patients’ post-tr

The added value of internal audit greatly contributes to adding value to the institution, but most departments of economic units in Iraq neglected the role of internal audit and the added value that can be achieved by those institutions, since the term added value of internal audit is a relatively vague term from the premise that what cannot be measured is difficult Determine it, and perhaps descriptive standards for it is the extent of compliance with international auditing standards (IIA).

The research aims to study the procedures and results of auditing to verify that they have given an added value to the audit with a positive impact, develop its aspects and research, identify deficiencies for the audi

The Effects of Akkermansia Munciniphila on Serotonin and Fetuin-A Hormone Levels and Some Biometric Parameters in Obese Patients
...Show More Authors

The objective of the present study is to determine the anti-obesity effects of Akkermansia munciniphila  on some biometric measurements. 40 patients were divided into two groups, each with 20 patients; G1 group consumed the probiotic of A. munciphila   and G2   consumed placebo capsules. The results  showed significant effects on the body weight (p≤ 0.001), which was reduced by a range of -2.29 to -0.7, whereas non-significant differences were observed in the Waist circumferance  . The study also showed significant differences (p≤0.001) between the two groups in the levels of cholesterol (287 vs. 285 mg/dl) , whereas the level of  Triglyceride  significantly  decrease

Background :Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was a widely used marker for skeletal and hepatobiliary disorders, but its activity was also increased in atherosclerosis and peripheral vascular disease. Several study has showed that ALP activity was increased in the sera of diabetic patients. The current study was conducted to evaluate ALP activity in type 2 diabetic patients and optimum conditions for enzyme activity in their sera. Methods: This study was carried out at in AL-Yarmok hospital(diabetic center) between February /2009 and April /2009. Fifty two patients with type 2 diabetes have been enrolled. Besides BMI, WHR, serum fasting blood glucose, ALP, HbA1C,uric acid and lipid profile levels have been performed .The relationship bet

The role of myocardial performance index in assessment of left ventricular function in patients with valvular mitral regurgitation
...Show More Authors

Background: Mitral regurgitation (MR) is the most commonly encountered valve lesion in modern clinical practice. Severe mitral regurgitation may cause systolic dysfunction. Left ventricular ejection fraction may not be an accurate measurement of LV function in patients with mitral insufficiency. Myocardial performance index (MPI) is a simple non invasive measure of myocardial function. Methods: The study involved 50 patients with valvular mitral regurgitation and 50 healthy subjects as a control group. Transthoracic echocardiography was carried out for all patients and control group. The echocardiographic measurements included left ventricular end diastolic and end systolic dimensions, left atrial diameter, ejection fraction (EF), and myoca

The coronavirus-pandemic has a major impact on women's-mental and physical-health. Polycystic-ovary-syndrome (PCOS) has a high-predisposition to many cardiometabolic-risk factors that increase susceptibility to severe complications of COVID-19 and also exhibit an increased likelihood of subfertility. The study includes the extent of the effect of COVID-19-virus on renin-levels, glutathione-s-transferase-activity and other biochemical parameters in PCOS-women. The study included 120 samples of ladies that involved: 80 PCOS-patients, and 40 healthy-ladies. Both main groups were divided into subgroups based on COVID-19 infected or not. Blood-samples were collected from PCOS-patients in Kamal-Al-Samara Hospital, at the period between Decembe

The aim of this research is to adopt a close range photogrammetric approach to evaluate the pavement surface condition, and compare the results with visual measurements. This research is carried out on the road of Baghdad University campus in AL-Jaderiyiah for evaluating the scaling, surface texture for Portland cement concrete and rutting, surface texture for asphalt concrete pavement. Eighty five stereo images of pavement distresses were captured perpendicular to the surface using a DSLR camera. Photogrammetric process was carried out by using ERDAS IMAGINE V.8.4. The results were modeled by using a relationship between the photogrammetric and visual techniques and selected the highest coefficient of determination (R2). The first techniqu
