Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory disease of unknown etiology characterized by joint inflammation and the presence of autoantibodies, mostly Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (ACCP) which are released when the body loses its ability to distinguish between self and foreign molecules. Serum amyloid A2 (SAA2) is an acute phase protein produced in response to inflammatory conditions including RA.
Objectives: To investigate the prognostic ability of SAA2 in comparison with ACCP and the prediction of disease activity and response to treatment by Methotrexate and Etanercept in Iraqi RA patients.
Patients and methods: A case control study, on a to

This study is designed to investigate the correlations between serum and tissue markers in order to clarify their role in progression or regression breast cancer. Tumor Markers are groups of substances, mainly proteins, produced from cancer cell or from other cells in the body in response to tumor. The study was carried out from April 2018 to April 2019 with total number of 60 breast cancer women. The blood samples were collected from breast cancer women in postoperative and pretherapeutic who attended teaching oncology hospital of the medical city in Baghdad and

Objective: To detect the level of IL-6 in PCOS patients correlated with their serum glucose.
Patients and methods: This is a prospective study carried out at Baghdad teaching hospital in Baghdad/Iraq from November 2011 to January 2012. In this study, 80 blood samples (40 untreated women with PCOS cases and 40 healthy control) were collected to investigate their IL-6 levels by using Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique and fasting blood sugar (FBS) by enzymatic assay.
Results: Serum IL-6 elevated in PCOS patients mainly
Background: The study enrolled a total of 78 patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases for evaluation of the activity of enzymes, gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and amylase and compared with 42 normal healthy groups with normal albumin, creatinine and other kidney functions test and the samples were obtained from different hospitals in Baghdad.
Patients and methods: Three groups of patients were included. The first group consists of 15 patients with acute kidney diseases that occurs over days to weeks in which measurement of GGT, ALP and amylase were performed. Second group consists of 38 patients suffering from acute kidney diseases for 2-3 months in which serum GGT was
Schizophrenia (SZ) is severe mental disorder and characterized by fundamental disturbances in thinking, perception and emotions. Immune deregulation has been postulated to be one of the mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. This study hypothesized that interleukins would have a link with schizophrenia patients. The serum IL-2 and IL-10 levels were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in schizophrenia patients (n=60) and healthy controls (n = 30). The results showed that serum IL-2 and IL-10 levels were significantly different among schizophrenia patients. The observations indicate a significant decrease (P < 0.05) in schizophrenic patients serum levels of IL-2 compared with healthy control. Whereas

Compared with females, males displayed a four-fold more common incidence of bladder cancer. It mainly affects men. Bladder cancer is the fourth most prevalent neoplasm in males. The most important protein that makes up high density lipoprotein (HDL), ApoA-I apolipoprotein A1 is essential in regulating the right amount of cholesterol. Multiple inquiries have demonstrated that APOA1 plays a pivotal role in the progression, infiltration, and spread of tumors. Objectives. The objective of this study was to measure the level of urine to serum apolipoprotein A1 in patients suffering from bladder
