Objectives: Osteoporosis (OP) is a systemic skeletal disorder characterized with bone mass loss and microstructure, resulting in fragility fractures. Continued secretion of Osteopontin (OPN), osteonectin (ON), osteocalcin (OCN), Parathyroid hormone (PTH) and Ca+2 lead to bone remodeling disorders, followed by bone loss and osteoporosis (OP). The current study aims to investigate the biochemical proteins OPN, OCN, and ON in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and determine whether we could use them as good indicators for OP diagnostics. Materials and Methods: Case- control study carried out between December 2022 and July 2023. OP disease was confirmed among 108 Iraqi postmenopausal women randomly selected from different Iraqi hospitals, Baghdad, Iraq. Their ages ranged between 45 and 70 years. According to DEXA scan results 70 samples were OP +ve results, while 40 samples were -ve (healthy control). Blood samples collected from all participants in order to assess the levels of Ca+2, PTH, OPN, OCN, and ON by employing the ELISA technique. Results: High significant increase (P≤0.01) detected in PTH, OPN, and OCN serum levels, whereas, a significant decrease in Ca+² and ON, in OP patients as a comparison to control group. Conclusion: OPN, OCN, and ON measurements are accessible, inexpensive, and easy to use and could be considered a good indicators for OP diagnostics; beside to a DEXA scan as a sensitive monitoring indicator for early detection of osteoporosis.
Through my acquaintance with the literature of Iraqi women, specifically during the first half of the twentieth century, I noticed a lack of interest in this type of literature, which forms part of our literary history. Therefore, I decided to date this literature and extract its output from the stomachs of newspapers and magazines, so that readers can see it and remember the names of the Iraqi poets who defied the difficulties in order to participate in the literary movement and who made their contributions in the field of literature.

The present study aims to investigate the effects of duration and complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus on diabetic related parameters, adipocytokines and calcium regulating hormones. This study was conducted on eighty diabetic patients (41 male and 39 female) in Iraq, with an age range of 20-60 years and a disease duration range of 1-180 months. Anastatica hierochuntica is believed to be very useful in Arab countries for treating various health disorders. The aqueous extract of Anastatica hierochuntica was investigated for its effects on hormones in mice females. the aqueous extract of plant at a dose level of 100mg/1mL showed significant increase (p<0.05) on levels of hormones LH, FSH, PRL level and PRO level. Clomid treated group showd significant increase in LH, FSH, and PRL while there was non-significant increase in PRO. From the above results, it is concluded for the first time that aqueous Anastatica hierchuntica extract offers significant effect of LH, FSH, PRL, and PRO in this mice females scompared with control.
The genus Ziziphus is one of the Family Rhamnaceae and consists of more than 170 species distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. All the species in the genus are of economical and medical importance. This study was conducted to identify the morphologically and anatomically features of the genus in Iraq. The field survey was conducted across the study area where 4 species (Ziziphus jujube, Z. mauritiana, Z. nummularia and Z. spina-christi) were collected and used in the study. The result showed that there is variation in morphological and anatomical features among the species in the stem cross-section and longitudinal section of leaves also the differences appeared in the epidermis of leaves.

recommendations to improve the water quality in the aquatic ecosystem of Tigris
River near Al-Dora refinery. Distribution and concentration of the sixteen polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were studied in surface water. Solid-phase extraction
was used for water samples, and then analyzed by HPLC. Results showed that the
highest and the most dominant (PAH) was ancephthlnene (3-ring PAH), with
concentration of (40.33 ng/l), while the lowest concentration was for Indeno (1, 2, 3-
cd) pyrene (5-ring PAH), with (0.33 ng/l). The highest and the lowest mean

The leaf miners Pegoinya terbrans (Rondani) and P. bicolor (Wiedemann) (Diptera; Anthomyiidae) were newly recorded in Iraq. Host plants of these leaf miners and P. cunicularia (Rondani) were identified: P. bicolor was found to be monophagous, whereas P. terbrans and P. cunicularia were oligophagous . It was found that Cirsixim syriaca and Silybum marianum were more susceptible to P. terbrans than the other ones. Infectivity and severity of infestation were estimated for most susceptible weeds against P. terbrans and P.bicolor. These leaf miners. Have two generations a year.
