Objectives To compare the clinical efficacy of microvascular decompression surgery (MVD) and gamma knife radiosurgery (GKR) as a treatment for patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia (TN) and evaluate the outcome regarding pain relief, recurrence, and complications with both modalities of treatment. Patients and Methods A randomized prospective study conducted in SaadAlwitry Neurosciences Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq. Eighty-four patients with TN from January 2016 to January 2018, 45 patients had GKR while 39 patients treated with MVD. The pain evaluated pre-and post-operatively using the Barrow Neurological Institute Pain Intensity scale (BNIPI), visual analog scale (VAS) and Brief Pain Inventory Facial (BPI-Facial) scoring systems. In GKR procedure, the trigeminal root entry zone targeted with a radiation dose of 80 Gy. MVD was performed using retro-sigmoid approach. Follow-up period was two years. Results Both groups showed a considerable decrease in BNIPI scores and VAS scores in the postoperative two years follow-up compared with the preoperative scores with a P-value< 0.01. However, pain relief rate was significantly higher in the MVD group (92.3%) compared to that of GKR groups (73.3%) with a P value of 0.02. Postoperative VAS scores of the MVD group were remarkably lower as compared with those treated with GKR during the same postoperative time.(P= 0.01).
Modified bentonite has been used as effective sorbent material for the removal of acidic dye (methyl orange) from aqueous solution in batch system. The natural bentonite has been modified using cationic surfactant (cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide) in order to obtain an efficient sorbent through converting the properties of bentonite from hydrophilic to organophilic. Toxoplasma gondii has a worldwide distribution and it is one of the most prevalent infectious agents in Iraq. The study was conducted on 200 serum samples of unmarried female university of students age ranged between 18 to 26 years to detect Toxoplasma gondii antibodies. The aim of this study was to detect T. gondii antibodies among unmarried female students in Iraqi universities using different serological tests. Seventy six (38%) serum samples out of 200 subjects were positive for toxoplasma antibodies by Latex agglutination test (LAT). The aim of this paper is to introduce and study a new kind of graphs associated to an ideal of a commutative ring. Let ℛ be a commutative ring with identity, and I(ℛ) be the set of all non-trivial ideals of ℛ with S I(ℛ). The sum ideal graph associated to S, denoted by Ψ(ℛ, S), is the undirected graph with vertex set {A I(ℛ): S⊂A+B, for some B I(ℛ)} where two ideal vertices A and B are adjacent if and only if A B and S⊂A+B. In this paper we establish some of characterizations and results of this kind of graph with providing some examples.
The tourism industry has become, currently, an art, an industry and a science. It is also one of the components that make up touristic regions. Tourist attractions are no longer the exclusive visits of museums and archeological sites, but also involve other service facilities.
