Fractal Image Compression Using Block Indexing Technique: A Review
...Show More Authors

Fractal image compression depends on representing an image using affine transformations. The main concern for researches in the discipline of fractal image compression (FIC) algorithm is to decrease encoding time needed to compress image data. The basic technique is that each portion of the image is similar to other portions of the same image. In this process, there are many models that were developed. The presence of fractals was initially noticed and handled using Iterated Function System (IFS); that is used for encoding images. In this paper, a review of fractal image compression is discussed with its variants along with other techniques. A summarized review of contributions is achieved to determine the fulfillment of fractal image compression, specifically for the block indexing methods based on the moment descriptor.  Block indexing method depends on classifying the domain and range blocks using moments to generate an invariant descriptor that reduces the long encoding time. A comparison is performed between the blocked indexing technology and other fractal image techniques to determine the importance of block indexing in saving encoding time and achieving better compression ratio while maintaining image quality on Lena image.

Removal of-Copper Ions-from Aqueous Solution Using Liquid-Surfactant-Membrane Technique
...Show More Authors

Extraction of copper (Cu) from aqueous solution utilizing Liquid Membrane technology (LM) is more effective than precipitation method that forms sludge and must be disposed of in landfills. In this work, we have formulated a liquid surfactant membrane (LSM) that uses kerosene oil as the main diluent of LSM to remove copper ions from the aqueous waste solution through di- (2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid - D2EHPA- as a carrier. This technique displays several advantages including one-stage extraction and stripping process, simple operation, low energy requirement, and. In this study, the LSM process was used to transport Cu (II) ions from the feed phase to the stripping phase, which was prepared, using H2SO4. For LSM p

Solution of High Order Ordinary Boundary Value Problems Using Semi-Analytic Technique
...Show More Authors

The aim of this paper is to present a method for solving high order ordinary differential equations with two point's boundary condition, we propose semi-analytic technique using two-point oscillatory interpolation to construct polynomial solution. The original problem is concerned using two-point oscillatory interpolation with the fit equal numbers of derivatives at the end points of an interval [0 , 1] . Also, many examples are presented to demonstrate the applicability, accuracy and efficiency of the method by comparing with conventional methods.

Minimization of Toxic Ions in Waste Water Using Emulsion Liquid Membrane Technique
...Show More Authors

In the present study, the removal of zinc from synthetic waste water using emulsion liquid membrane extraction technique was investigated. Synthetic surfactant solution is used as the emulsifying agent. Diphenylthiocarbazon (ditizone) was used as the extracting agent dissolved in carbon tetrachloride as the organic solvent and sulfuric acid is used as the stripping agent. The parameters that influence the extraction percentage of Zn+2 were studied. These are the ratio of volume of organic solvent to volume of aqueous feed (0.5-4), ratio of volume of surfactant solution to volume of aqueous feed (0.2-1.6), pH of the aqueous feed solution (5-10), mixing intensity (100-1000) rpm, concentration of extracting agent (20-400) ppm, surfactant co

Nonlinear Optical Properties of CdS Thin Film Nanoparticles Using z-Scan Technique
...Show More Authors

In the present work, a z-scan technique was used to study the nonlinear optical properties, represented by the nonlinear refractive index and nonlinear absorption coefficients of nanoparticles cadmium sulfide thin film. The sample was prepared by the chemical bath deposition method. Several testing were done including, x-ray, transmission and thickness of thin film. z-Scan experiment was performed at two wavelengths (1064 nm and 532 nm) and different energies. The results showed the effect of self-focusing in the material at higher intensities, which evaluated n2 to be (0.11-0.16) cm2/GW. The effect of two-photon absorption was studied, which evaluated β to be (24-106) cm/GW. In addition, the optical limiting behavior has been studied.

Classification of the galaxy Milky Way using variable precision rough sets technique
...Show More Authors

Astronomy image is regarded main source of information to discover outer space, therefore to know the basic contain for galaxy (Milky way), it was classified using Variable Precision Rough Sets technique to determine the different region within galaxy according different color in the image. From classified image we can determined the percentage for each class and then what is the percentage mean. In this technique a good classified image result and faster time required to done the classification process.

Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete T- Section Beams Using External Post-Tensioning Technique
...Show More Authors

This research is carried out to investigate the externally post-tensioning technique for strengthening RC beams. In this research, four T-section  RC beams having the same dimensions and material properties were casted and tested up to failure by applying two mid-third concentrated loads. Three of these beams are strengthened by using external tendons, while the remaining beam is kept without strengthening as a control beam. Two external strands of 12 mm diameter were fixed at each side of the web of the strengthened beams and located at depth of 200 mm from top fiber of the section (dps). So that the depth of strands to overall depth of the section ratio (dps

Improvement Efficacy of Bacillus Subtilis Cellulose Hydrolyzing by Using Cold Plasma Technique
...Show More Authors

Bacillus subtilis, an isolate of bacillus genus, was obtained from the laboratories of Ministry of Science and Technology. The best efficient Bacillus subtilis isolate in cellulose and semi-cellulose hydrolysis was treated with Dielectric-barrier Discharge (DBD). Atmospheric cold plasma technique (non-thermal) was used by exposing them at different times (2, 3, 4 and 5 mins) separately as a first stage, and then 60 seconds after any treatment separately as a second stage. After 48 hours, the difference between the plasma source and the sample was fixed at 0.5 cm. The results showed a variation in the growth of the isolate according to the exposure time by the appearance of culture turbidity and the estimation o

Determine the Radon Gas Level Using the GIS Technique for Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

In this work, radon concentrations in the polluted environment were measured within the Baghdad sample surface soil conservation, and this was done using a RAD-7 mobile detector. The work consists of four parts:
The first part includes calculating the latitude and longitude of each point of the study area using the Global Positioning System (GPS). The second part of which includes Determination of 222Rn gas concentrations in surface soil samples. In the northeast part of Baghdad, the highest concentration of radon was found in Al-
Shaab area (3.11 ±175.33 Bq / m3), while the lowest gas concentration in AL Gzeera area (6.67±73.00 Bq/ m3), In the northwest part of Baghdad, the highest concentratio

Solubility and Dissolution Enhancement of Atorvastatin Calcium using Solid Dispersion Adsorbate Technique
...Show More Authors

Atorvastatin (ATR) is poorly soluble anti-hyperlipidemic drug; it belongs to the class II group according to the biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS) with low bioavailability due to its low solubility. Solid dispersions adsorbate is an effective technique for enhancing the solubility and dissolution of poorly soluble drugs.

The present study aims to enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of ATR using solid dispersion adsorption technique in comparison with ordinary solid dispersion. polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG 4000), polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG 6000), Poloxamer188 and Poloxam
