A comparative study of integrin- linked kinase 1 and anti-smith antibody as diagnostic biomarkers in Iraqi patients with systemic lupus erythematosus
...Show More Authors

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is the prototypic multisystem autoimmune disorder with a broad spectrum of clinical presentations encompassing almost all organs and tissues. Aimes of study determination of integrin- linked kinase 1(ILK-1) and anti-smith antibody(ASAB) levels in serum of Iraqi patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, in addition, that ILK-1 may be as a diagnostic marker of SLE disease, and study the effect of systemic lupus erythematosus on renal function in these patients. This study included 100 females’ patients with systemic lupus erythematosus attending to the Rheumatology Unit in Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Medical City, (Baghdad), in addition to 30 healthy females as controller group were chosen without any chronic diseases. All study individuals with ages ranged from (18-48) years. All patients were classifying according to the severity by the SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) by using Rheuma Helper into 30 female patients with mild stage as (G1), 40 female patients with moderate stage as (G2), and 30 female patients with severe stage as (G3). Results in the current study display a significant elevation in dsDNA, ANA, ASAB, ILK-1, urea, and uric acid levels in G1, G2, and G3 patients’ groups compared with control (C) group. Creatinine levels showed no difference in its levels in G1,G2, and G3 comparing to control group. The current results showed that there were various significant comparisons between ILK-1 and other study parameters in the control and patient groups. ROC test for ILK-1 and ASAB markers showed a perfect cut off value with 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity. Conclusions TK-1 may be helpful as a novel biomarker in the diagnosis of SLE disease, and there was a positive correlation between ILK-1 with urea and creatinine that are considered factors of renal damage. this is evidence that there is an effect of SLE disease on kidney function, and thus these patients may be at risk for kidney dysfunction at severe stage

Synthesis, Characterization and Antimicrobial Screening of New Schiff Bases Linked to Phthalimidyl Phenyl Sulfonate Moiety
...Show More Authors

A series of Schiff bases linked to phthalimidyl phenyl sulfonate moiety have been synthesized via multistep synthesis. The first step involved reaction of phthalic anhydride with aniline producing N-phenyl phthalamic acid which was subsequently dehydrated to the corresponding N-phenyl phthalimide via treatment with acetic anhydride and anhydrous sodium acetate. The synthesized imide was treated with chlorosulfonic acid in the third step producing 4-(N-phthalimidyl) phenyl sulfonyl chloride which was introduced in reaction with 4-hydroxy acetophenone in the fourth step producing 4-[4-(N-phthalimidyl) phenyl sulfonate] acetophenone and this in turn was introduced successfully in condensation reaction with various aromatic primary amines affor

Cytokines are A type of protein that is made by certain immune and non-immune cells and has an effect on the immune system. Some cytokines stimulate the immune system and others slow it down. Interleukins (ILs) can be divided into several families with more than 40 subfamily members. They can interact with a variety of cells that alter the immune system and act on a wide range of cancers. In the past several years, ILs have attracted substantial attention because of their distinct roles in CRC that provide a new and promising strategy for CRC. In general, ILs facilitate CRC by promoting tumorigenesis, tumour growth, angiogenesis, and cancer cell invasion and metastasis and inhibit CRC via complex pathways. With the fast-growing of neural machine translation (NMT), there is still a lack of insight into the performance of these models on semantically and culturally rich texts, especially between linguistically distant languages like Arabic and English. In this paper, we investigate the performance of two state-of-the-art AI translation systems (ChatGPT, DeepSeek) when translating Arabic texts to English in three different genres: journalistic, literary, and technical. The study utilizes a mixed-method evaluation methodology based on a balanced corpus of 60 Arabic source texts from the three genres. Objective measures, including BLEU and TER, and subjective evaluations from human translators were employed to determine the semantic, contextual an
