Effect of Phosphatidylcholine on Dyslipidemia and Atherogenic Index in High Fructose Exposed Rats
...Show More Authors

The purpose of this research was to investigate the beneficial effects of phosphatidylcholine in reducing changes in both lipid and protein profiles in addition to atherogenic index in adult rats with fructose-induced metabolic syndrome. Thirty-six mature Wistar Albino female rats (Rattus norvegicus) (aged 12-15 weeks and weighing 200±10 g) were divided randomly into four groups (G1, G2, G3, and G4); then variable treatments were orally administered for 62 days as follows: G1 (Control group), received distilled water; G2, treated with phosphatidylcholine (PC) orally (1 g/kg BW); G3 (Fr), orally dosed with 40% fructose and 25% fructose mixed with drinking water; G4 (Fr+PC), were also intubated with 40% fructose and 25% fructose in drinking water, and received PC at 1 g/kg BW by oral tube. At the end of the research, specimens were taken by cardio puncture approach after fasting for 8-12 h. Serum was obtained to measure lipid criteria (total serum cholesterol, triacylglycerol, high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, very low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, non-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, and Atherogenic index) and protein profile (total protein, albumin, and globulins). The results showed that the occurrence of dyslipidaemia (hypercholesterolemia, triacyleglycerolemia) increase in low density of lipoprotein-cholesterol, very low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, no-high density lipoprotein-cholesterol concentrations and atherogenic index and reduce the concentration of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol) in fructose treated animals in addition to disturbance in protein profile (lowered in total protein and globulins level).PC treatment resulted in decreased changes in lipid profile, protein profile, and atherogenic index in rats, whereas fructose induced metabolic syndrome. In conclusion, using Phosphatidylcholine treatment in rats may reduce the changes of lipid and protein profiles and atherogenic index while fructose may lead to metabolic syndrome.

Effects of Vitamin D3 on Methotrexate- Induced Jejunum Damage in Rats
...Show More Authors

Both methotrexate and vitamin D3 are used in combination for the treatment of various diseases. The aim of this study is to highlight the effect of vitamin D3 on methotrexate-induced jejunum damage using biochemical and   histopathological  studies. Seven groups of both sexes of rats were selected and treated as follows: (Group I and Group II) : control 1,control 2 (I.P normal saline) daily for 14 and 21 days respectively ; (Group III and Group IV) :vitamin D3 groups (500 IU/rat/day) orally for 14 and 21 days, respectively;(Group V): once daily dose of methotrexate 20mg/kg, I.P injected for 4 days;(Group VI):vitamin D3 (500 IU/rat/day) once daily for 14 days and methotrexate (20 mg/kg I.P) injected only at day 10;.(Group VII) vit

Strength Training and its Effect in Some Biochemical Variables in the High Jumping of Advanced Players

The study of biomechanical indicators in the arc of the run and the upgrading stage is one of the important variables that affect the nature of the upgrading and thus affect the result of the race due to the importance of these stages and the consequent variables during the last steps. That’s why, the jump-trainings based on assistant means or body weight positively affect the step-time for each of the three steps in the acceleration arc. As well as, it focuses on the momentary strength of each step at this stage. It also significantly affects the speed of motor performance to suit the activity in which the runner needs to perform perfect steps with high flow in order to convert the horizontal speed to a vertical one. This is achieved thr

EFFECT OF STEEL FIBERS ADDITION ON THE BEHAVIOR OF HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE CIRCULAR SHORT COLUMNS

loaded reinforced concrete circular short columns. An experimental investigation into the behavior
of 24 short reinforced concrete columns with and without steel fibers was carried out. The columns
had a circular section (200 mm diameter and 900 mm long). Test variables include concrete
strength, spacing of spiral reinforcement, and inclusion of steel fibers. The axial stress and axial
strains were obtained and used to evaluate the effects of the presence of steel fibers. It was found
that the addition of steel fibers slightly improves the load carrying capacity of the tested columns
whereas it significantly enhances the ductility of these specimens. Test results also indicated that for

Physiological and histological effects of apigenin and luteolin on Cytarabine injected rats
...Show More Authors

The present study was undertaken to study the effect of apigenin and luteolin on physiological and histological changes in rats treated with cytarabine drugs. Thirty-five albino healthy male adult rats with equal age weighing 250 -300g were enrolled. Rats were randomly divided into seven groups according to the treatment. Group “1” was treated with normal saline and served as the control group. Groups “2,3 and 4”  received cytarabine, apigenin, and luteolin respectively, while groups 5, 6, and 7 received a combination of “apigenin + cytarabine”, “luteolin + cytarabine”, and “apigenin + luteolin + cytarabine”, respectively.  After one week of treatment, all seven groups of rats were

SEASONAL ABUNDANCE OF THIRD INSTAR LARVAE OF FLIES (ORDER: DIPTERA) ON THE EXPOSED CARCASSES
...Show More Authors

The study aims to identify the third instar larvae of fly species (Order : Diptera) feeding on carcasses (Fishes and Rabbits). Two families (Calliphoridae and Sarcophagidae), were recorded with highest rate in Calliphoridae species. The following species had been registered in accordance with their prevalence respectively; Calliphora vicina Rob.-Desvoidy, Chrysomya albiceps (Wiedmann), Chrysomy megacephala (Fabricius), Sarcophaga sp. and Lucilia sericata (Meigen). The highest rate has been registered Calliphora vicina during February, November, December and January at rate 100%, the larvae of this fly have not been observed during July, August, September and October. The highest rate of Ch

Effects of Allopurinol on Ketone Body Metabolism and Tissue Lipid Peroxidation in Alloxan Diabetes in Rats
...Show More Authors

The aim of the present study is to investigate whether or not xanthine oxidase (XO)–derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) may play a role in the pathogenesis of alloxan (ALX)–induced diabetes in rats using the specific XO inhibitor and hydroxyl radical scavenger, allopurinol

The involvement of oxidative stress in ALX – diabetes was assessed by the measurement of plasma and various tissues lipid peroxides levels ( using thiobarbituric acid ( TBA ) reactive substances ). Furthermore, the ability of allopurinol to influence these and other biochemical parameters, including plasma and urine ketones levels were also investigated in diabetic rats.

Rats were divided into four groups: control, untreated diabe
