The main objective of this study was to evaluate the adsorption efficiency of two adsorbent materials, Iraqi chicken eggshells (ESh) and activated carbon (AC) derived from ESh powder for the removal of a cationic dye (Janus green B; JGD) from aqueous solution. Activated carbon was synthesised from ESh using a simple chemical activation method using phosphoric acid as the activating agent. The physicochemical properties of the adsorbents were characterised by the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) method, FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), and point of zero charge (pHpzc). The results of BET analysis confirmed that AC has a higher specific surface area (4.146 m2/g) compared to ESh (1.561 m2/g). The effects of operational parameters including contact time (5–60 min for ESh and 5–30 min for AC), adsorbent dose (0.05–1 g/10 mL), temperature (298–318 K), and pH (3.72–11.36) were systematically investigated. Optimal adsorption occurred at pH 11.36, where JGD removal efficiencies reached 90.13% with 0.2 g/10 mL of ESh after 60 min and 92.89% with 0.1 g/10 mL of AC after 30 min at 298 K. Equilibrium data were best fitted by the Freundlich isotherm model, yielding adsorption capacities of 0.09 mg/g for ESh and 1.85 mg/g for AC at 318 K and pH 5.5. The high correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.99) confirmed favourable heterogeneous adsorption. Kinetic data followed the pseudo-second-order model (R2 = 0.99). Thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS°) indicated that JGD adsorption onto ESh was spontaneous (ΔG°<0), exothermic (ΔH°<0), and associated with decreased randomness (ΔS°<0), while adsorption onto AC was spontaneous (ΔG°<0), endothermic (ΔH°>0), and accompanied by increased randomness (ΔS°>0). The adsorption mechanism was attributed to electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, and π–π interactions. Desorption experiments demonstrated that 0.2 mol/L HNO₃ effectively regenerated both adsorbents. After seven adsorption–desorption cycles, AC exhibited superior stability and reusability compared to ESh.
Samples of Iraqi bentonitic sediments, representing local montmorillonite brought from Traifawi region near the Syrian border. Mineralogical the samples were characterized as low grade of Ca-smectite, particle size, chemical analysis, XRD, and BET surface area analyses of the samples were carried out to examine the structure of bentonite before and after acid activation. The goal is to prepare a bleaching earth for edible oil production. Iraqi Bentonite was beneficiated and activated by series of physical and chemical steps, using 4N & 6N concentration of hydrochloric acid and at a temperature of 70-80 ° C. Surface area and pore volume of the samples were determined to assess the bleaching power
Within this paper, we developed a new series of organic chromophores based on triphenyleamine (TPA) (AL1, AL-2, AL-11 and AL-22) by engineering the structure of the electron donor (D) unit via replacing a phenyle ring or inserting thiophene as a π-linkage. For the sake of scrutinizing the impact of the TPA donating ability and the spacer upon the photovoltaic, absorptional, energetic, and geometrical characteristic of these sensitizers, density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) have been utilized. According to structural characteristics, incorporating the acceptor, π-bridge and TPA does not result in a perfect coplanar conformation in AL-22. We computed EHOMO, ELUMO and bandgap (Eg) energies by performing frequency a

The treatment of the electrode is a crucial step to make the electrode surface more habitable for bacteria growth, thus, increases the power production as well as waste treatment. In the current study, two graphite electrodes were treated by a microwave. The first electrode was treated with 100W microwave energy, while the second one was treated with 600W microwave energy. There is a significant enhancement in the surface of the graphite anode after the pretreatment process. The results show an increase in the power density from 10 mW/m2 to 15 mW/m2 with 100w treatment and to 13.47 mW/m2 with 600w treatment. An organic

This study is qualitative, it illustrates H.G. Wells\\'s The Time Machine through the scientific and social framework of the Victorian Era. Wells\\'s portrayal of future societies examines the rapid technological progress and social changes of the 19th century. The analysis scrutinizes the division between the Eloi and the Morlocks, tracing the consequences of social division. To meet the objective of the study, Victorian frame of mind is utilized to examine the class struggle that is symbolized by the Eloi and the Morlocks. The analysis highlights the economic and social effects of industrialization and how Wells examines the capitalist system and its impact on human relationships and class division. The study also utilizes concepts from D

Show MoreA modified chemical method was used to prepare titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs), which were diagnosed by several techniques: X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, field emission scaning electron microscopy, energy disperse X-ray, and UV-visible spectroscopy, which proved the success of the preparation process at the nanoscale level. Where the titanium oxide particles have an average particle size equal to 6.8 nm, titanium dioxide particles were used in the process of adsorption of Congo red dye from its aqueous solutions using a batch system. The titanium oxide particles gave an adsorption efficiency of Congo red dye up to more than 79 %. The experimental data of the adsorption process were analyzed with kinetic models and

Show MoreHerein, a biocomposite of crosslinked chitosan polyethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (CS-PEDGE), montmorillonite (MMT), and foodgrade algae (FGA) was successfully prepared by a hydrothermal technique. The resulting absorbent (CS-PEDGE/FGA/MMT) was assessed for its adsorption property with methyl violet 2B (MV 2B) a toxic cationic dye. The physicochemical properties of CS-EDGE/ FGA/MMT were assessed via various analytical techniques, including BET, Elemental analysis, pHpzc, and spectroscopy (FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX). The influence of three adsorption variables, namely adsorbent dose (A: 0.02–0.1 g/100 mL), solution pH (B: 4–10), and contact time (C: 10–420 min) on the rate of MV 2B dye removal was examined using the Box-Behnken design (RSM-
