The Effect of Vermicompost and the Extract of Conocarpus Leaves on the Growth and Yield of Coriander Plants and their Essential Oils
...Show More Authors

Field trials were conducted at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Ibn al-Haytham, University of Baghdad Iraq, during the 2023-2024 growing season to study the effect of vermicompost and aqueous extract of Conocarpus erectus leaves on the coriander plant (Coriandrum sativum L.). The experiment involved two factors: the first with two levels of vermicompost at 0 and 5 tons ha-1, and the second by spraying the aqueous extract of conocarpus plant leaves at 0, 10, 20, and 30 g L-1 concentrations. The interaction treatment with vermicompost at 5 tons ha-1 and extract spraying at 20 g L-1 concentration produced the best results for number of leaves (51.33 leaves plant-1), leaf chlorophyll content (41.77 SPAD), dry weight of the vegetative system (13.87 g plant-1), dry weight of the root system (6.30 g plant-1), leaf area (14.533 cm2 plant-1), number of inflorescences (44.37), yield per hectare (669.21 kg ha-1), percentage of volatile oil in the coriander leaves (0.449%), and the specific gravity of oil (0.71 mg). The control treatment gave 30.67 leaves plant-1, 26.57 SPAD, and 5.83 g plant-1 1.90 g plant 1 Address for Correspondence Received: 2025-12-07 DOI: , 5.033 cm2plant-1, 19.57 inflorescences 303.07 kg ha-1, 0.213%, and 0.33 mg, respectively, for the same growth indicators. This study proved that coriander plants respond positively to vermicompost fertilizer and spraying with the aque

Studying some of the optimal conditionals for the best bacterial isolates from soil and its effects on their growth rates
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The current study aimed to use some bacterial isolates from the local soil of Baghdad city by study the effects of temperature, pH and incubation period on the growth rates of isolated bacteria and choose the optimal conditions for their diversity and for understanding bacterial growth and their requirements for survival and proliferation. This information can be applied to obtain their high growth rate for use in various fields such as agriculture, medicine and environmental sciences in the future. And it used to assess the degree of variation in across bacteria species in pH, temperature and incubation period. A number of local bacterial isolates as Enterobacter cloacae</p> ... Show More

Effect of Mycorrhizal Inoculation and Fertilization with Plant Residues on the Growth of Chard Plant
...Show More Authors

In order to study the effect of inoculation with mycorrhiza and fertilization with plant residues on the growth of plants, we used two factors: the first two levels of mycorrhiza inoculation, Glumus mossea (0 and 10 g.pot-1) and the second factor, four levels of plant residues (10 g.pot-1) celery plant residues, 10 g pot-1 mint residues, and 10 g pot-1 black bean seed residues. Mychorrizal treatment (10 g pot-1) increased the number of mycorrhiza spores and the infection percentage of mycorrhizal by 917.44% and 13088.23%, respectively; celery treatment (10 g.pot-1) increased the chlorophyll index in the leaves and height of the chard plant by 31.34% and 94.04%, respectively; and black seed treatment (10 g.pot-1) increased the percen

Improving Nitrogen and Phosphorus Efficiency for Optimal Plant Growth and Yield
...Show More Authors

Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are the most important nutrients for crop production. The N contributes to the structural component, generic, and metabolic compounds in a plant cell. N is mainly an essential part of chlorophyll, the compound in the plants that is responsible for photosynthesis process. The plant can get its available nitrogen from the soil by mineralizing organic materials, fixed-N by bacteria, and nitrogen can be released from plant as residue decay. Soil minerals do not release an enough amount of nitrogen to support plant; therefore, fertilizing is necessary for high production. Phosphorous contributes in the complex of the nucleic acid structure of plants. The nucleic acid is essential in protein synthesis regulation; t

Interactive effects of coco peat and organic fermented foliar sprays on growth, yield, and quality of cauliflower (Brassica oleracea)
...Show More Authors

Sustainable agriculture requires eco-friendly inputs to improve crop productivity while reducing reliance on chemicals. Coco peat enhances root growth and nutrient availability, while fermented fish waste and sugarcane juice provide essential nutrients and growth stimulants. To further evaluate, a study was carried out during the fall season of 2024–2025 at University of Baghdad – Al-Jadiryah campus. Following standard field preparation, cauliflower (Brassica oleracea cv. Casper) saplings were transplanted on October 15, 2024, into raised beds in double rows (75 cm × 40 cm). The trial was conducted as a 5×3 factorial experiment in a split-plot RCBD, with coco peat as the main plot and foliar sprays as subplot. The main plot co

The effect of aqueous crude extract of ginger on the histology of corpus luteum and the concentration of hormones estrogen and progesterone in pregnant mice
...Show More Authors

This study was designed to investigate the effect of aqueous extract of ginger Zingiber officinale Roscoe on the histology of corpus luteum and the concentration of the hormones progesterone and estrogen during the first trimester of pregnancy (0 - 7) days from fertilization. 30 pregnant mice were divided into five experimental groups: control group (administrated with distilled water), and four groups treated at doses (284, 568, 1136,1420 mg / kg), orally administrated , daily with (0.1 ml). Microscopic examination results have shown histopathological changes in corpus luteum included: Pyknosis in some nuclei of granulosa cells, Karyorrhexis, Karyolysis in some granulosa cells, and necrosis in corpus luteum, with additional significant dec

Background: Salvia officinalis is a plant belong to
Labiatae family .The common name of Salvia is sage
which mean save. The leaves of Salvia have special
oil which is effective against filamentous fungi and
yeasts such as Candida albicans which is the
causative agent of vaginal candidiasis in women
Methods. Cultures from 50 swabs of Candida
albicans isolated from vagina of 70 patient women
who complains from vaginal problems, their ages
(24-43) years from Central City Hospital during
Febreoury 2009 to April 2009 were cultured on
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) .Nystatin was used
as positive reference standard to determine the
