STYLISTIC FEATURES OF MITIGATING EXPRESSIONS IN RUSSIAN FEMALE SPEECH (BASED ON MATERIAL FROM THE RUSSIAN PRESS)السمات الاسلوبية لعبارات التلطف في الخطاب النسوي الروسي (الصحافة الروسية انموذجا)
...Show More Authors

This study analyzes the stylistic features of euphemisms in feminist discourse, based on material from the contemporary Russian press of the period (2015–2025). The central issue lies in how the linguistic devices used to soften the harshness and confrontation in discourse contribute to shaping a distinct feminine communicative style within media discourse, where the context necessitates combining the expression of the author\\'s position with maintaining a harmonious interaction with the wider audience. This study aims to uncover and classify the stylistic mechanisms of euphemism at the lexical-grammatical, syntactic, and pragmatic levels, as well as to determine its role in constructing gendered linguistic behavior. The research findings revealed that women\\'s journalistic discourse is characterized by the prevalence of strategies oriented towards linguistic refinement, empathy, and dialogism. This is evident in the frequent use of input indicators that suggest ambiguity and uncertainty, particles of emotional affinity, euphemisms, interrogative and conditional structures, balanced agreement formulas, and expressions of solidarity and collective identity. These devices not only reduce the potential threat to the recipient\\'s \\"image\\" but also contribute to building a communicative tone based on trust, emotional engagement, and the formation of a positive image of the writer. The study\\'s results indicate the growing socio-organizational function of euphemisms in media discourse as an indicator of women\\'s communicative style, reflecting cultural expectations associated with tact and harmony in interpersonal relationships. The importance of this research lies in providing a comprehensive description of the pragmatic and figurative effects of euphemisms in contemporary women\\'s journalistic discourse in recent years, thus enabling a deeper understanding of the dynamics of gender-related stylistics in modern public communication.

The Illusion of Untranslatability: A Theoretical Perspective with Reference to the Translation of Culture-Bound Euphemistic Expressions in the Qur'an
...Show More Authors

The present study investigates the notion of untranslatability where the concept of equivalence is reconsidered since the misconceptions, related to the said concept, inevitably lead to the emergence of untranslatability. Identifying equivalence as relative, approximate and necessary identity makes the notion of untranslatability a mere theorization. The objectives of the present study are (1) to investigate the notion of untranslatability in terms of the misconceptions associated with the concept of equivalence (2) to examine the possibility of translatability from Arabic into English focusing on culture-bound euphemistic expressions in the Quran as an area of challenge in translation. A Pragma- Stylistic Analysis of Formal Congratulatory Letters in English and Arabic

Politeness strategies are of significant importance to maintain the face of the addressee. Senders of formal congratulatory letters seek to create a positive image in the minds of their addresses by performing particular illocutionary acts and face-saving acts (FSAs) in the form of written texts. To the best knowledge of the researcher, this topic received little attention from linguistic researchers, especially on the pragma-stylistic level. The importance of this study arises from the fact that congratulatory formal letters are an effective tool in the successful performance of foreign relations and thus deserve investigation. The current study investigates the pragmastylistic aspects of illocutionary acts and FSA Politeness Stra

Language plays a major role in all aspects of life. Communication is regarded as the most important of these aspects, as language is used on a daily basis by humanity either in written or spoken forms. Thus, language is a fundamental element in identifying peoples’ ideologies and traditions in the past and the present. Despite these facts, the feminist linguists have objections to some of the language structures, demonstrating that language is gender biased to men. That is, language promotes patriarchal values.
