Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is a leading cause of hospital admission and many factors are known to precipitate decompensation. We aimed to assess the decompensating factors of heart failure and the management of patients admitted to the emergency department (ED). A total of 107 patients were examined, all diagnosed with ADHF in the ED of the Baghdad Teaching Hospital, from June 2017 to December 2017, and presenting with decom¬pensation (pulmonary oedema, peripheral oedema, and fatigue). The mean patient age was 62.5 ± 9.8 years (range: 43–85 years); the majority of them were in their 7th decade (37.4%), and men were slightly more than women. Hy¬pertension was the most commonly associated comorbidity (68.2%), followed by diabetes mellitus (57.9%), coronary artery disease (51.4%), dyslipidaemia (37.4%), arrhythmia (28%), and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease / asthma (23.4%). The most common presentation was pulmonary oedema (88.8%) followed by peripheral oedema (61.7%), and fatigue (26.2%). Uncontrolled hypertension was the most common precipitating condition for decompen¬sation (58.9%), followed by infection (39.3%), acute coronary syndrome (31.8%), arrhythmia (27.1%), non-compliance (11.2%), and anaemia (2.8%). The majority of the admitted patients were managed with intravenously-administered (i.v.) diuretics (92.5%) that may have been combined with oxygen therapy (63.6%), antibiotics (58.9%), β-blockers (50.5%), nitroglycerin (40.2%), i.v. fluids (38.3%), and/or digoxin (19.6%).
Background: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
has become the standard of care for the
elective management of cholelithiasis. Little
information exists, however, regarding the
appropriateness of this procedure in the setting
of acute symptomatology.
Objective: This study was designed to
evaluate the outcome of laparoscopic
cholecystectomy in acute and severe acute
cholecystitis based on early and late biliary
complications, their incidence and
management, and conversion rates to open
surgery.
Methods: A prospective study done between
April 2007 and November 2010, in the
department of general surgery, medical city
teaching hospital, Baghdad. Includes patients
with acute cholecystitis admitted f
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an Intervention Oriented program on the prognosis of Osteopenia among Women at Private clinics in Baghdad City. Methodology: A longitudinal design. A purposive ''non probability'' sample of (25) Women who have bone mineral density (BMD) T- test between (-1 to -2.5). The data are collected through the utilization of a constructed questionnaire and by means of interview with each client who is involved in the study. Each interview takes approximately (20) minutes. Results: The study showed that there is a good improvement in bone density accord after applicatio

Fibroblast growth factors-23 (FGF-23) are a class of cell signaling proteins produced by macrophages. They have a range of roles, but they play a particularly important role in the development of animal cells, where they are essential for appropriate growth. Phosphate, which is found in the body as both organic and mineral phosphate, plays crucial roles in cell structure, communication, and metabolism. Most phosphate in the body resides in bone, teeth, and inside cells, with less than 1% circulating in serum. The aim of the study is to evaluate the levels of the Fibroblast Growth Factors-23 and phosphate and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) in acromegaly patients against healthy control. A case control study Fibroblast Growth Fact

The present study investigates the relationship between patient satisfaction and dental anxiety, as well as their relation to demographic variables such as gender, age, number of visits, and cultural level. The study was applied on a random sample of dental clinics in Baghdad city with total of (200) patient (108 male and 92 female). Two scales were used in this study, patient satisfaction scale PSS (included 9 aspects, constructed by authors) and Iraqi dental anxiety scale

Objective: This study aims to use anthropometric measurements (arm span, length of leg, chest circumference, and waist circumference) to find a model (alternatives) that can allow the calculation of the height and the body weight of patients with disabilities. Additionally, a model for the prediction of weight and height measurements of patients with disabilities was established. Method: Four hander patients aged 20-80 years were enrolled in this study and divided into two groups, 210 (52.5%) male and 190 (47.5%) fe
