Alteration of cell aggregation and adhesion in Dictyostelium amoeba by an overexpression of paracaspase protein

Dictyostelium discoideum amoeba is a powerful system to study gene function through genetic and functional analysis. Paracaspase (Pcp) is a caspase-like protein that has recently identified in D. discoideum. Study paracaspase molecular function in Dictyostelium will provide insight into its cellular role in more complex organisms and the possibility to use it as a drug target against the parasitic amoeba. In this study, pcp was tagged with Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and over-expressed in the cell. The knockout version of pcp (pcp-) was also investigated. In the course of our examination, it was observed that cells overexpress Pcp was unable to complete the developmental process, leading us to examine its role in development. Those c

Biodiversity and Genetic Relationships to the Species for the genus Gladiolus L. (Iridaceae) Wild Growing in Iraq Using RAPD-PCR Technique

This study observed the genetic diversity and relationships among 4 species belonging to genus Gladiolus L. , by using the Random  Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique , the study  includes extraction of genomic DNA from the dray leaves by using commercial kit . 4 random primers  used the produced of many polymorphic bands among the 4 species , it was also possible to fined the DNA fingerprint of all studied species.Through the appearance of a number of bands that were unique to each species.Genetic distances ranged from 0.10 to 0.86, and used cluster  analysis were performed to construct dendrogram.Cluster analysis grouped the 4 species Into tow main clusters depending on their ancestor and their morphological

Fabrication and Characterization CdO:In/Si Photovoltaic Solar Cell Prepard By Thermal Evaporation

In this work, CdO:In/Si heterojunction solar cell has been made by vacuum evaporation of cadmium oxide doped with 1% of indium thin film onto glass and silicon substrates with rate deposition (3.9A/sec) and thickness(≈250nm). XRD was investigated, the transmission was determined in range (300-1100)nm and the direct band gap energy is 2.43 eV, I-V characterization of the cell under illumination was investigated , the cell shows an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.6 Volt, a short circuit current density (Jsc) of 12.8 mA/cm2, a fill factor (F.F) of 0.66, and a conversion efficiency (η) of 5.2%.

Detecting DNA of multispecies dinoflagellate cysts in the sediment from three estuaries of Makassar strait and fishing port using CO1 primer: Is it CO1 primer suitable for detecting DNA dinoflagellate?

Most dinoflagellate had a resting cyst in their life cycle.  This cyst was developed in unfavorable environmental condition. The conventional method for identifying dinoflagellate cyst in natural sediment requires morphological observation, isolating, germinating and cultivating the cysts.  PCR is a highly sensitive method for detecting dinoflagellate cyst in the sediment.  The aim of this study is to examine whether CO1 primer could detect DNA of multispecies dinoflagellate cysts in the sediment from our sampling sites. Dinoflagellate cyst DNA was extracted from 16 sediment samples. PCR method using COI primer was running. The sequencing of dinoflagellate cyst DNA was using BLAST. Results showed that there were two clades of dinoflag

Total L-carnitine and insulin resistance in non-obese and obese Iraqi women with polycystic ovary syndrome

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most frequent endocrine illnesses affecting reproductive - age women. L-carnitine has important roles in oxidative stress, energy production and glucose metabolism. It affects insulin resistance as decreased plasma carnitine level has been well reported in type II diabetes mellitus. Hence, it means L-carnitine may reduce insulin resistance which is found in PCO disease.

Objective: This study aims to measure the level of L-carnitine and insulin resistance in both obese and non- obese patients with PCOS.

Patients and Methods: Sixty women within the reproductive age with PCOS (30 obese and 30 non- obese) were recruited

Fabrication and Study of Nano catalysis for Alkaline Fuel Cell

In this paper the manufacture of an alkaline fuel cell electrodes made upfrom a Nano mesh (Pt:NiO) catalyst has been studying , made from a Nano mesh (Pt:NiO ) catalyst. The general morphology of the samples is were imaged by using with the an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) to determine the roughness of the prepared surface, it constructed from nanostructure with dimensions in order of 35 nm. The Structural characteristics were studied through the analysis of X-ray diffraction (XRD) of the prepared nanomaterial for determining the yielding phase;1. 72 volt was also obtained at 0.02 A/cm2 current density for an alkaline fuel cell.
