ASSOCIATION OF SERUM INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR-1 WITH OBESITY IN TYPE 2 DIABETIC IRAQI PATIENTS AND ACUTE RENAL FAILURE

ABSTRACT : Diabetes mellitus stands for a set of metabolic diseases that if they are not managed, they can initiate threatening life problems. This study hypothesizes that insulin-like growth factor-1 level can be used as a biomarker for early diagnosing renal problems in patients with type 2 diabetic disease. This study included 30 recently identified type 2 diabetic patients with acute renal malfunction who had an entrance in National Diabetic Center,AL-Mustansiriyah University.They have beenin the Center from October 2018 up to end of April 2019. Their age range has been (40-62) years. Comprehensive clinical investigationhas beencompleted for each patient to discount other diabetic complications like cardiac, neurologic and eye complications.About 30 healthy subjects have beendesignated as a control group that have beencompatible age with patients group. A tester of 10 milliliters venous blood has beenassembledfrom every subject after all nightfasting. Fasting serum glucose, lipid profile, insulin-like growth factor-1 levels were evaluated.Aprofile of serum lipid has exhibited more significant means except for high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol in diabetic patients with acute renal failure.As compared to the controls, the concentration of insulin-like growth factor-1 was significantly less in diabetic patients with p-value of 0.0001. Also, there has been a significance for negative correlation amid serum insulin-like growth factor-1 level and body mass index, fasting serum glucose, glycated hemoglobin, triacylglycerol, urea, creatinine and leptin while there has been a weighty positive correlation amid serum insulin-like growth factor-1 level and total cholesterol (TG), HDL cholesterol, and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in patients group. Early detection for insulin-like growth factor-1 and lipid profile anomalies have roles to minimalize the hazard for expansion of cardiovascular complications for the patients with type 2 diabetic. Insulin-like growth factor-1 levels can be an advantageous indication for categorizing subjects for dangerous cardiovascular disease in the type 2 diabetics

Micro encapsulation of Naproxen By Complex Coacervation and Aqueous Colloid Dispersion Part ( 1 )

Naproxen is a non steroidal anti inflammatory and antipyretic drug which has local irritation effect  on  the  stomach, and  unpleasant taste,  besides bad   flowability and light sensitivity .The drug was prepared as microcapsules by complex coacervation method using acacia-gelatin coating materials , and aqueous colloid polymer dispersion method ( ACPD ), using ethyl cellulose and sodium alginate coating materials . The results indicated that microcapsules prepared by 2:1  core:wall ratio is the best for both methods, with an average encapsulation efficiency (75%) and avarege yield (90%) .

Observations on the age and growth of Varicorhinus damascinus (Val.) in Tigris river at Salahuldin province – Iraq

Age and growth of Varicorhinus damascinus (Val.) in Tigris river at Salahuldin province have been investigated. Monthly samples were taken during the period from September 1999 to August 2000, using small-meshed gill nets. The age data showed that there were six age groups and the dominant age groups were (III – IV) for both sexes. The results of the present study revealed that the increment in length of V. damascinus at the sites of study showed a tendency to decrease with the increase in age, after the third year of life in both sexes. We can summarize the main risk factors for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by looking at our nutrition, age, and lifestyle. β-cell dysfunction and insulin resistance (IR) are outcomes of the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes. As an indirect result of IR on important metabolic enzymes, lipid and lipoprotein abnormalities are also a factor in T2DM patients. Recent research has indicated that lipid fluctuation may be the cause of poor glucose metabolism as well as one of its effects. Fatty acids (FAs) affect cell membrane fluidity and permeability, insulin receptor binding and signaling, and the translocation of glucose transporters. Therefore, it is suggested that FAs might play a crucial part in the emergence of IR and T2DM.
